Happy Valentines Day!! Noticed the Boss had his cartoon featured in the opinion section of USA Today.

Deadline day at the Legislature. General bills and constitutional amendments which do not receive floor action by the close of business today will be “dead to the first degree”.

Hello. Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you. I have a date tonight. Of course, there will be a “3rd wheel” with us. I told Kiddo to find a Valentine of her own and leave mine alone. I believe her response involved her middle finger.
Since we are going out tonight, my morning today was much calmer. And at lunch, I actually relaxed. No cooking, no cleaning, no running errands…just me, a sandwich and bingo on Facebook. Ahhh…I really enjoyed that.
If anybody has any great, prepare-ahead meal ideas, please share. I need to be able to do most of the work early and let Kiddo do the finishing touches (uncomplicated touches).
I have some things that are easy. I make my own spaghetti sauce in huge batches and freeze it in several smaller containers. Kiddo can boil the noodles and heat up the sauce. I have a few good crock pot recipes. But I need more ideas. I don’t know how long this overtime work is going to last. He said that it is ongoing, but there will be breaks in it from time to time.

Molly I will look at some of the quick, but yummy, (30 minute) meals I do/have done and get to you. Most are easy Kiddo could do the entire thing.. some are ones I learned at a young age and used in teaching my 2.

Molly, I am all about one dish meals at my house.

Brown onions and sausage together (either Jimmy Dean sage sausage or sliced up polish sausage, five or so sticks of these) on medium high. Slice up potatoes (use red skinned potatoes and DON”T peel) and carrots (don’t peel, the skin makes for a great sweet taste) for your family. Have half a cup of water hand beside the stove. Turn the eye up and let it get a little hot, then put in the veggies and the water and cover. turn it down to medium again and let it cook about 10 or so minutes. turn it off and let it sit on the stove all day. it won’t ruin. When your daughter gets home, have her add a can of green beans to the top of the mixture and turn the eye on medium and let it simmer about 15 to 20 minutes. By that time she can have tea made and the table set. :)

Did your mama ever make meatloaf? Make it with a pound of ground beef an egg and a handful of oats or some crackers. Let it cook in the oven a bit while you slice up same type vegetables. Then add vegetables and cover with foil and cook until done.

Aternoon. Still fighting the migrane I didn’t get ahead of last night. Went to check on my parents who have been absolutely sick and help them out with getting their chickens to bed and disposing of her rooster that died in the hen house. When I got home I was just TIRED and didn’t take headache medicine before bed. Still paying for that mistake.

But ti’s been a good day. When I finally got here at noon, one of the girls and I went out to eat together at one. I may not last all afternoon.

Belated hellos! Poppy was discharged today. He and Mr. Fab had lunch at Landry’s, then went home to the Pass. T got home around 5, with Landry’s in hand and fresh pralines! The card made me cry. I do love that man.

It’s been a crazy week. I hope I can crawl out of bed tomorrow (today?) and enjoy the weather. It’s almost 330 and I was awake early Thursday.

CLady, take 2 Excedrin! Also, get your blood pressure checked, just in case.

    XOXO
