Good morning! I’m back from the road (1,900 miles in a week!). I went to Oxford (twice), Atlanta and Knoxville. I’m planting seeds for the future and trying to come up with new ways to grow my brand. I’m not sure if I am swimming or just treading water. But I’m still moving.

I’ve been calling the Pearl Parks & Rec folks since Monday morning and haven’t talked to anyone yet. One of our senior directors transferred from P&R to the senior center. She sent a text message Monday and they said they had been cleaning up after a big softball tournament and had been out of the office all day and would get back to us Tuesday. Tuesday came and went and I couldn’t get anyone, so a while ago I called the mayor’s secretary and she said someone would call me back. I imagine if anyone call round anyone up, she will be the one. It turns out that we no longer have a director of Parks & Recreation.
I just didn’t want y’all to think I was slacking on my job of getting the pavilion reserved. Between the mayor’s secretary and me, it will happen and I will let y’all know as soon as it’s been done.
Now I’m headed to Brandon to play some bridge.

Well, it’s not what you know; it’s who you know. The Mayor’s secretary called me this afternoon to let me know that I already had the pavilion reserved. The text message Stacy sent Monday held it for me. The Parks & Recreation folks just failed to call and confirm with me. We are booked for the pavilion at Pearl Park on May 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. I will put an event on Facebook too so hopefully between here and there, everyone will know when to be there or be square.
Watch out Leagle, they’ll make you P&R Director. Heh.

One of our original MRBA members had a need that couldn’t be met by her IRL friends, but was taken care of by a couple of us old timers in under twenty minutes. Her little girl’s blankie will be delivered later today from Long Beach via Gabe’s wife. :)

Molly, Gabe was one of the waaaaay back original members. Our first-ever gathering was at Trustmark Park, and he helped put it together. I know Ace was a little guy back then, but I can’t remember how many years it’s been.
The sun is beautiful today. Mr. Fab is not in any big hurry to get ready to travel, so even though we’ve been planning all week to go to Long Beach, I think he’s decided we’ll stay home. I know it’s mean to think like this, but dang I’m home every. Stinking. Day. :(((
Chicklette is fishing with her daddy and brothers today, then will be off to Orange Beach tomorrow for a day trip! She’s so excited!

I’m getting excited about our 6th annual picnic. I believe it was in the spring of 2009, before we had our 1st annual picnic in the summer of 2009, that Old Bopper and Bloggerman (Gabe) worked together and set up a meeting at a Braves game. I believe Old Bopper paid for tickets in a section together and then when we got there, we gave him what we owed for our tickets. We can start talking about food a little closer to time. All I can think of at the moment are Old Bopper’s brownies and wishing we didn’t have 49 more days to wait.

K reporter cardinal lady here We had our first gathering June 26, 2008 on a Thursday night. First picnic was the following year. Saturday June 6. After that it gets fuzzy. LOL. Jon says I have a much better long term memory
