happy CSD to you, MR! You are an inspiration.

I really like the “Campaigning near the Crossroads” story. The flames in the eyes is just creepy!

  2. Airwolf says:

    Happy cncer survivors day Marshall.

Morning folks! Hot, hot! Off to church in a while. Stay cool if you can!

  3. pncpnthr says:

My BFF is a cancer survivor..I’m so thankful for her!

Everyone have a good day. I’m off in a bit to spend time with A & the wee one. Haven’t seen her in a week, she’s probably talking by now. Ha!

  4. Marshall Ramsey says:

“Inhaled. Exhaled. Just celebrated National Cancer Survivors’ Day.:

Thanks Mrs. H. Wanted to write a short story about it being hot. Having a demonic candidate just slipped in later.

  5. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

    Happy CSD to all!

I sure did hate to hear about PD’s setback. Hope we get a better report today.

  6. dhcoop says:

Molly, congrats on the twins! It should be a busy fun day at your house!

  7. Molly says:

Mornin. The twins are so cute! They slept all night in their crate. They run, play, wrestle, and explore, but when they get tired, they climb in the crate and take a nap. One didn’t like the crate door being closed for the night, but calmed down after a few minutes and slept all night. They are waking up from a nap now.
    Better take them outside.

  8. parrotmom says:

hi everyone, happy cancer survivor day to all, especially MR, and PD (although the last couple of days and nights have really been trying, to put it lightly).
so surprised Sunday FFA showed up earlier than usual.

Molly glad to hear the twin pups or settling in nicely.

  9. Molly says:

PQ, I hope PD is doing better this morning.

    • Molly says:

I meant “PM”. Puppies slept all night, but I didn’t. I don’t know why, but I woke up just before 1:00 am and barely slept after that; just dozed some after 3:00 and then up at 5:45

  10. parrotmom says:

last evening I left pd’s room only for about 5 minutes told the nurse since he is on watch, she left asked another nurse to watch. came back and there was PD sitting up trying to climb out to come find me. he did sleep a little bit on his on, but still out of his mind and was very abusive verbally when he would be doing something he shouldn’t be. they did put him on nasal oxygen to keep his level at 97 or above due to the 2 small pulmonary blood clots. I did not that being in the lungs could cause loss of oxygen to the brain also. the nurse was also told she could give ativan to help so at midnight and a few hours later a little more. then I finally after a few tears I finalll drifted to sleep for a couple to 3 hrs. PD’s kids will soon be here and I will have time to have a shower and a little time with my parrot without all the commotion.

  11. Barb says:

Happy Cancer Survivors’ Day!! I hope you all take the time to read Marshall’s Dragon story. It is truly amazing!! Have a great day!!

  12. parrotmom says:

I am home for a short period, but it is quiet, thankfully. PD’s daughter uncovered the parrot and left him in our room I haven’t disturbed him yet, but really need to. PD seemed to be some better this morning after 2 shots of ativan. He is more coherent and understands he has to use the mouth swabs and the suction and is not fighting that as of when I left. He did wonder where the catherter came from this morning and who put him in that bed as he was waking up and after an explanation he seemed to understand and was familiar with his surroundings. I hope you all stay cool and hydrated. Talk to you all soon.

  13. parrotmom says:

Back to the hospital and taking one of the laptops to see if I can make it work or kill it. LOL!!!! Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes.

  14. parrotmom says:

and same back to you all too. I know I am not the only one that needs them.

  15. OldBopper says:

Early church this morning. PQ and a bunch of ladies left for an Episcopal Church Women’s conference in North Carolina. Just about the same group goes every year and they have a blast in addition to gaining good information from the conference. This one covers the Southeastern U.S.

Came home and fixed some poached eggs on toast with OJ. That’s breakfast today. She left me some delightful leftovers that I know I will enjoy…..fresh veggies.

Glad to know PD is somewhat better. Hope his recovery gathers speed.

  16. blues4you says:

    Good morning.

Continued prayers for PM/PD. Hope things improve soon.

Making homemade ice cream for our Kiwi friend who has never had any this afternoon. Should be fun. She’s quite a character.

Hope Mr. Fab is feelin’ better too.

Hey tank. Yep been singing Steve Forbert songs the last couple of days, especially “Going Down to Laurel”. I have 2 cousins from Meridian that grew up with him and still stay in touch.

  17. dhcoop says:

PM, I’ll be praying for PD to continue to improve. I know that’s got to be tough.

Just had sloppy joes and I think the best ice cream I’ve ever eaten. OB, if you haven’t tried the Bluebell Coconut Fudge yet, you should. AWESOME!

Oh, and it’s HOT! In case you hadn’t noticed…

  18. Legal Eagle says:

Happy CSD to everyone to whom it applies. And PM, I’m so sorry you and PD are going through this ordeal.

I didn’t sleep two winks last night. I guess I was reved up after spending the last 2 nights with people I hadn’t seen in years and thinking of people I never did see and thinking of things I should have asked some of those I did see. Wow! That was awesome!

  19. parrotmom says:

will be here some more days. they will be starting him on coumadin–the pulmnologist said. will have to wait till the dose is stable. Plus he wasn’t that active to start with so he will be weaker than nml if they start any phys or occupational thearapy. Thankfully his mind is some what better if he would just keep hos hands still.

  20. parrotmom says:

I hope Mr Fab has improved and that he does’t have any staff infection (been there done that with PD too!! He took antibiotics for 3 months.

Some ice cream sure would be good. hey I’m in the hospital maybe I could get some….NOT!!!!

  21. parrotmom says:

LegalE so glad you enjoyed your weekend :)

  22. msblondie says:

evening gang! it has been a hot one. Had to go over to my mom’s this afternoon… her dsl modem bit the dust. Took 45 minutes to get it taken care of… but she is getting a new one. She also got a new computer so I picked it up to bring home to set it up. When I was leaving a shower brewed up.. it was nice.. had that summer clean smell. But it was funny.. rained at her house but at the top of the hill/road not a drop then more as I was just about into town.

PM: hope PD gets better. I know it is trying on you.

    Everyone have a great evening.

  23. OldBopper says:

PM, ask the Doctor if he can put PD on Pradaxa which is an anticoagulant without the problems Coumadin causes. With Pradaxa, you don’t worry about all the blood tests to check the thickness of blood and you don’t have to worry about coming off the medicine 3 days before going to the dentist. That’s just two of the advantages. I took coumadin for ten years and fortunately had a good experience with it, but may others have had nothing but nightmares. I’m taking Pradaxa now and love the freedom it has given me. I wouldn’t even begin to think about riding a motorcycle if I was still on coumadin.

  24. parrotmom says:

I will keep that in mind OB. My dad’s coumadin was adjusted weekly and I am not going to have that for PD. He has enough meds to worry about than trying to figure which ones to skip, or give only half and so forth. Thanks for the info.

  25. OldBopper says:

Coop, thanks for the heads up on the new flavor. I saw it the other day. Opted to try Homemade in the Shade as my new flavor on this trip. If you like chocolate, it’s pretty good. I’ll buy it again.

Went for a ride this evening. On roads with little traffic it was pleasantly cool. On roads with traffic I bet the temp was ten degrees warmer. My jacket allows a wonderful flow of air. Rode about 30 minutes this evening and didn’t break a sweat with the jacket on.

  26. Mrs. H says:

My Goodness! It’s been a long day. I just got back from going to get El. She was with a friend for the weekend and their car had problems and then the trailer toting the car had 2 flats. I said, “ENOUGH! I’m coming to get you myself!!”

Thought for the evening: Sir Isaac Newton may have named the laws of motion but God invented them. Mad Science looks at inertia tomorrow.

    • Mrs. H says:

Ooo, that worked!! I wondered if I still remembered how to use those html tags that are mentioned at the bottom of the comment box. I guess I did!!

PM, I posted that before I read any posts from the day. I pray that your beloved makes rapid progress and that you establish a good working relationship with his offspring as a result of this experience (and that you get some much needed rest sometime soon)

  27. dhcoop says:

Evenin! It’s been a fun weekend with Big Sis, although today we have pretty much been slugs…

PM, I hope things continue in a positive way.

OB, you MUST try it. YUM!

Heading to bed soon. Love and hugs to all.

  28. Clucky says:

PM, so sorry to hear of PD’s complications. Not uncommon, saw it many times in my many years of critical care. Ativan works wonders, and if he is in restraints, it is for safety and not laziness or meanness on the part of the staff. Yep, he’s probably used every 4 letter word he knows too, but the good news is that he will remember none of this episode. Don’t take it personal if he cusses you too-he doesn’t know what he’s doing. I know these words do little to reassure you, but he will come back around pretty quick, and getting him home is the best treatment. I do agree with OB-see if he can go on Plavix ASAP instead of Coumadin. The shots in the belly are a low molecular weight heparin that dissolve clots called Lovenox. Once the clots are gone, he should be able to skip the Coumadin.
Granny is on Coumadin, but she also has the “umbrella” to catch clots before they can reach her heart, lungs and brain. She has bad issues with clots in her legs. She’s getting stronger now too. Mr Fab is much better, and I think we avoided staph by keeping him home for 5 days. All the spots are so much better and the swelling is gone. He did have an MRI Friday of his back; interested to see if he has any changes. The new pain mgmt doc in Meridian does a special procedure called neurolysis that can actually kill the nerve causing the back pain. Considering he refuses surgery and the spine injections stopped working, it is wonderful to know there may be help yet.

I worked on priming Chicklette’s room and stayed in as much as possible. TWC has grasses off the chart for this week, and that is my primary allergy. Of course, half the county cut hay this past week. We need rain so I can breathe again!! I took a late nap now I can’t sleep. Tomorrow’s going to be busy, but I will keep my friends in my prayers!

    Love y’all!

  29. Clucky says:

    Yes, it is 0128. Gah.
