Last night, I played with a band called Jason Fratesi and the Dirt Road Jam Band. It capped off a long, but interesting day: From six until 12 — putting together a page of cartoons from the Neshoba County Fair. From 12 until 6 putting together and doing a radio show. From 6 until 7: 30 having dinner with my family at Phillips on the Reservoir. And from 7:30 until 12:30 playing with Jason Fratesi and the Dirt Road Jam Band.
Life is not dull.
Morning friends!
Good morning to all.
Hey Bella! Where have you been?
Sitting in Cups in Brandon. Meeting Sis and BIL in about an hour for a ride on the Trace to Natchez. Gonna be hot but it shouldn’t rain on us.
Hope everybody has a great weekend.
Good morning to everyone. Good to see you Bella it sure has been awhile. Hope life has been treating you kind?
OB have a safe road trip and enjoy Natchez.
Marshall sounds like it was a very busy day but doing all the things you enjoy. I bet you even went to bed with a happy tired smile on your face :)
Hey Bella! Long time no see! Welcome back.
OB, there are a jillion good places to eat in Natchez and lots to do. Have fun.
I woke up at 6:00 and watched the WAPT news show, Good Morning America, and then switched over to The Early Show. Now I’m really sleepy, and after 3 cups of coffee.
Mornin!
Marshall, that was a LONG day! Then again, you seem to have a lot of those!
Welcome back Bella!
Good morning.
Acomplete stranger asked me with a thick cajun accent what I thought about the Reggie Bush trade yesterday. I told him you can’t measure how little I care for the saints or Reggie Bush in words he could easily understand and you can’t print on a family blog. He thanked me for being candid. I’m really glad he didn’t mention lsu.
Blues, sounds like being Candid in Cajun territory is a good way to survive.
I wasn’t having a very good day and pro football was about the LAST thing I wanted to talk about in july…especially with a total stranger.
Blues, hopefully his next subject won’t be the wedding of ex-governor Edwin Edwards, 83, to prison pen pal, 32.
That’s just too much for me to get a handle on there. I would say only in Louisiana….but we all know that could happen most anywhere, especially MS.
I was given a price of several hundred for 3 people to clean my court yard up. I think I can save that money and do a little at a time playing in the heat and waiting for the shades to hit certain sides. I will be some kind of sore. I do use one of those short mechanic roller stools to sit on. I will survive it I always have.
If it wasn’t so far away, I would come and help!
Thanks, I am about halfway around. I have just taken my time. Maybe I will be through before dark?
Blues, will you please e-mail me the e-mail I sent you with the MRBA recipes on it? My e-mail address is the same except the ending now is @comcast.net. Thank you.
Leagle, did you get my email with the recipes I had?
I am marinating pork chops in pineapple juice. About to fire the grill up. I am doing as Big Sis instructed and eating everything in her freezer. Well, the instructions may have been to eat everything in her refrigerator, but… I am looking forward to grilled pork with a brown sugar/pineapple chunk glaze, potatoes in butter and sour cream, and green beans cooked…well, I’m not quite sure yet, but it’ll be good, I’m sure!
OH MAN that was good!!! Marinated pork chops, potatoes, green beans… AWESOME!
Aw hush Coop! That sounds sooooo good.
Met up with my BIL and Sis this morning and we connected with some others at Rocky Springs and rode to Natchez with seven bikes and 8 people. Lunch at Burgers and Blues. Then some went up 65 in Louisiana, the rest of us went up 61 to Port Gibson to a B&B my cousin owns. Soda pop there and some took 61 back to V’burg while Sis, BIL and I took 18 up to Utica where they split off onto 27 back to V’burg and I continued on 18 to Hwy 80 and on into Brandon.
Boule and I logged just over 250 miles today. My butt is sore and I’m worn out. But it was a fun time!
Coop I envy your meal. Sounds awesome. OB sounds like a super nice ride and time :) I quit on my courtyard about 6.00. I still have more to go. Just finally started pulling all the tall crap, still have more to go. Just no energy.
nite lite is on. We are watching MECUM auto auctions. Some awesome looking cars.
I’m home!!
gee that was a quick trip. So glad you made it home safely.
06:50am
Good morning.
Marshall, I hope you had fun making music last night.
I had one of the best culinary experiences of my life in New Roads, La last night.
Blackened catfish on a bed of rice surrounded by crawfish etoufee with a side dish of cream corn topped w/green onions & sugar cured bacon. Bread pudding w/bourbon sauce for dessert. Absolutely fabulous. Leftovers for lunch today.
7:05 AM. Blues, you’re making me hungry! And I’ve had breakfast. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to cook like that? I know some people do.
Morning, all!
Mornin! 7:38 a.m.
Talked to Big Sis while ago. She said it was only 100 in the shade. It was about 3:30 Sunday afternoon when she called. The time difference is still strange to me. She was needing a recipe that she had on a post-it inside her cabinet. She found vanilla wafers (unusual find over there) and had some bananas and the recipe she needed was for the pudding.
I’ll bet OB has a sore butt this morning after that ride yesterday!
Blues, that sounds like a mighty fine dinner. I guess we both ate well last night!
Coop, I did get your e-mail with a 20-page attachment. I sent you and Blues an e-mail at the same time that I think was later than that one, I think closer to 60 pages and I sent it to my friend who works on my computer too and I need to check with him also.
Morning!
Coop, I hope you found the recipe. The one I found was for about 30 servings.
Is this what you are looking for, pncpnthr? If it is, this is the recipe I’ve always used:
Original NILLA Banana Pudding
Prep Time: 30 min
Total Time: 50 min
Makes: 12 servings, 2/3 cup each
3/4 cup sugar, divided
1/3 cup flour
dash salt
3 eggs, separated
2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
45 NILLA Wafers, divided
5 bananas, sliced
MIX 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler. Blend in 3 egg yolks and milk. Cook, uncovered, over boiling water 10 to 12 min. or until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
RESERVE 12 wafers for garnish. Spread small amount of custard onto bottom of 1-1/2-qt. baking dish. Cover with layers of 1/3 each of the remaining wafers, bananas and remaining custard. Repeat layers 2 times.
BEAT egg whites on high speed of mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in remaining sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread over custard, sealing well to edge of dish.
BAKE 15 to 20 min. or until lightly browned. Cool slightly. Top with reserved wafers just before serving.
