Mawnin’ y’all. Watching “Irene” with interest. Our first day on the Florida coast is scheduled for Friday.

Got Boule in May and have put just over 4,700 miles on him since. I really like this motorcycle thing. Wish I had gotten into it ten years ago.

Hope everybody has a good start to the week.

    Howdy.

  11. CornPop says:

    Good morning!

Well, I have to go for an MRI at noon today on my knee. It’s been giving me fits for a couple of months now, so I’m throwing in the towel and saying ‘Uncle!’ GP says he thinks I may have blown my Baker’s Cyst at the back of my knee and also may have a torn meniscus, which can all be fix arthroscopically (sp?). Sure do hate having to go through that, but I’ll do whatever needs to be done so I don’t hurt anymore. Been favoring my ‘hurt’ knee so much that my other knee is starting to protest, too. I’ll know more once the orthopedic surgeon looks at the results.

Orville goes for another PET scan on Wednesday then to see oncologist on Friday for another round of chemo and will find out what the scan shows. I’m taking that day off to be with him. He’s been experiencing more pain lately, with a few other issues that may be chemo-related, and we are afraid the cancer may be trying to come back. We’re doing our best not to borrow trouble, but it’s tough.

On a good note, we got to keep SugarPop this weekend and had such a great time with her! She’s just over 2 now, talking up a storm (have to pay close attention to know what she’s saying, though, or she gets MAD) and definitely has a mind of her own. She’s such a joy and blessing!

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

  12. cardinallady says:

Morning! Flying through. I’ve been looking at Irene with interest also. Just grateful that at this point she is not going to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Would be a bad weekend for that since Monday is the exact six year anniversary of Katrina.

have some things to get done, like a column, so I’d best get with it. Y’all have a GREAT day!! I’ll pop in after the column.

Oh, I just have to mention, it’s amazing the new things you learn from your mom that you didn’t know about birds. We were watching the cardinals come in and she said the young males were beginning to get their red feathers. Said over the summer they look like their mom for protection. That is so neat. It made me really begin to notice my cardinals and I saw one on my feeder yesterday that was changing into his bright red feathers, so I called Jon into the kitchen and pointed it out to him. Just awesome.

  13. The Real JB says:

    Morning people.
My church voted to make an offer on the building yesterday. Please pray that they accept our offer.

Need to have a good week in insurance.
Can’t wait for college football to get going.

  14. dhcoop says:

    You got it, jb!

I just put a hobo pack in the oven. I had two leftover Nathan’s hotdogs, so I put me a layer of sliced onions, a pile of sour kraut, sliced hotdogs, another layer of kraut and another layer of onions. It’s already smelling FINE.

  15. Barb says:

CornPop, hope the tests go well. Hope you get some relief soon.
JB, praying they accept the offer.

  16. The Real JB says:

    PNC…quit cussing on this blog.

Heard Tank got arrested for public indecency…did yall hear that?

  17. OldBopper says:

Cardinal Lady, sent you two replies. Hope it helps.

    • cardinallady says:

They did, thanks. We had a candidate that sat in the circuit clerk’s office all day these past two Saturday’s watching the voting process. ‘Twas humorous. Tomorrow is going to be fun!!!

  18. OldBopper says:

With the election coming up tomorrow, here’s a few ditties for you.

    1. Candidates may be inside the polling place as an observer, but may not campaign inside the polling place or within 150 feet of the entrance. Each candidate is allowed to have one observer designited in writing inside the polling place. Each political party is allowed to have two observers as designated in writing. Poll observers may not mingle with voters and may not wear or pass out political material. Poll observers do have a right to view the registration books as long as they do not interfere with the voting process.

    2. The 150′ boundary should be adequately marked and enforced by the baliff.

    3. An absentee ballot is a provisional ballot until the polls close. A list of persons voting absentee must be posted for public view inside the precinct. A person who voted absentee may cast a ballot in person. If so, their absentee ballot must be voided following the closing of the polls.

    4. Law enforcement officers are allowed to wear a sidearm while voting. Law enforcement officers shall not linger inside or outside the voting precinct within the 150′ boundary. Exceptions may be made if the law enforcement officer is called by the baliff to assist in enforcing the law.

    5. At the closing of the polls, any member of the public whether a candidate or not shall be allowed to view the closing and the tallying of the votes.

    6. No election may be contested until the election commission certifies the election. Certification means the results are officially final. You cannot contest an election before it is final.

  19. msblondie says:

peaking in… been a busy morning. but think i got everyone up and running..

not to do some real work

  20. Clucky says:

Wow. A moment to check in. As OB can attest, we spent most of the weekend under Mom’s house trying to remove an old busted pipe so it could be replaced. Yesterday around 2pm, Mr Fab cried UNCLE! and went to
Lowe’s and got a sawzall and metal-cutting blades. Just as he had it assembled and the extension cord plugged in, the bottom fell out.
So…the boys are now on day 6 without water. Hope to get the old ones out this evening and new ones in by dark tomorrow.
OB looks HAWT on that Hawg! Chicklette is in awe of (don’t take this wrong, OB) that cool old man on that smokin’-hot bike! LOL Even the boys wandered over later to ask who it was and admired the pics. Our mechanic drives a Harley, but they knew by sound it wasn’t him-although it should have been. My car is still dead. Sniffle.
OB, can u vote in a run-off if you didn’t vote in the primary?
PM, get you a matress topper woman and quit sleeping on the dang couch!!! You are KILLING your back on that thing! Granted, we did discover sleeping sideways on a hidabed keeps that rod from killing you. Being petite has it’s advantages!
I still haven’t been to see The Help. Sigh.

  21. OldBopper says:

The primaries and associated runoff elections are conducted by the parties. You should be able to vote in a runoff if you didn’t vote in either primary. The poll workers will be using the same books used for the primary so, if they see you didn’t vote then, they could question you about it and, I guess, keep you from voting in the run off. I’m not sure they have the balls to do that though.

    • cardinallady says:

LOL! Bopper I was about to answer her question and tell her she could vote in the run-off if she didn’t vote in the primary as long as she was a registered voter, but my reply was oh so dull compared to yours!

  22. OldBopper says:

Cardinal Lady you are exactly right. If you did not vote in either primary, you may vote in either runoff. It’s your choice.

  23. pncpnthr says:

I am so not happy with Entergy right now. We have paid our bill online for years & now they want to update our security features & I have to give them an account number just to get into the site. I HAVEN’T HAD A PRINTED BILL IN YEARS!!!

    Sorry, didn’t mean to shout.

  24. parrotmom says:

Prayers to CP and Clucky hope you get those pipes fixed soon.

Evening everyone. Has been a long day.

  25. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

Just had a wonderful dinner of a semi-ratatoulli (sp?) my BFF G made. Squash, okra, tomatoes, corn, onions, etc. YUM!

Getting comfies on and settling in to watch my FAV show of the week.

  26. parrotmom says:

JB, Prayers for the funding to come through for the larger facility.

  27. Barb says:

OB, do you have to vote in the same party as you voted in the primary?

  28. OldBopper says:

You cannot vote in a runoff different from the party whose primary you voted in.
If you voted in the Democratic primary, you are limited to voting in the Democratic runoff.

  29. parrotmom says:

    nite to all!!

  30. Legal Eagle says:

Y’all have seen on the news the last few days how grateful all those people in Libya are for overthrowing a dictator after 41 years. Our forefathers fought so that we could be free. Exercise your freedom today by going to the polls and casting your vote for the candidates of your choice.
