  2. Mrs. H says:

This morning there didn’t appear to be a cloud in the sky (stars all the way down to the treeline), but there was definitely lightning to the south.

  3. parrotmom says:

good morning to you all. After today only one more day this week then a 3 day weekend for some of us. Yea!!!

OB, that is too funny that he cleaning people never knew where the thirde bed and bath were after all this time? Do that not open what appears closet doors to be sure the gues have removed all there personal belongings? On any of out trips to Houston, TX I always removed the stuff of the the bathroom counter and place it on the closet shelf to have out or my way. Truely amazing !!!

High, high tide last evening. Today we have rip current warnings. The waves are big and powerful. The ocean conditions are expected to last through Sunday. We’re leaving out Saturday morning.

  11. blues4you says:

    Good morning.

As per yesterday’s free for all:

I’m at home this week cardinal and currently unassigned.

My first job was farm hand for my father.

Hope you get to feeling better soon, clucky.

    peace,y’all.

  12. tank says:

    hey folks.

I’m still working at my first job and unless they fire me or we fold this will probably be my last job. not many people can say that I bet.

I’ve got free box seat tickets to the Saints game tonight and my husband is sick and can’t go. Which, since we are playing those little ol’ Titans, coach is starting the third string qb.

I went to bed at 7:30 last night and enjoyed every minute of it. (sleep, just to clarify)

    have a super day folks.

  13. dhcoop says:

Lunch today is going to be porkchops baked in crushed pineapple and brown sugar, baked sweet potatoes and crowder peas. nom nom nom

  14. Legal Eagle says:

Crowder peans are one of my favorite vegetables, but BE doesn’t like them. He prefers purple hull peans, which I think are rather tasteless when compared to crowders. Anyway, happy anniversary, BE. Be proud of those gray hairs I have put in your head. At least you have hair.

I’m off to the Thursday game. I’ve had 2 people call this morning to ask me if they were signed up to play today. One was and one wasn’t. Aaaaawwwwkkkk! Speaking of gray hairs.

  15. dhcoop says:

Big Sis just ran into some guys from Mississippi over in camel land! One from Lucedale and one from Monticello!

    • bpman says:

small wurl it is! I remember just weeks before Katrina hit, my mom called me from Italy & says “hey, the lady that sat in front of us on the bus today was from St. Charles, MO!”, which I live only minutes from, here in St. Charles county. yup, small wurl indeed!

      • bpman says:

O & this other time, my cousins # shows up on my caller I.D. and I answer, but its the voice from a lady at our church that speaks to me on the other line. I’m confused, then she tells me how she & her husband met a nice couple on the beach. My friends from church explain they’re from STL. Thru conversation, the couple says they own a business in AR & get their inventory from STL. and that their 2nd cousin lives in STL area & buys & coordinate’s the shipping of their inventory. After they both realize they both know me, my cousin hands my friend from church the phone & says here, say hey to him, just to him a chuckle!

  16. cardinallady says:

    Morning! Flying through.

*scree, scree, scree* that’s me running on this hampster wheel. A cardinal on a hampster wheel is not a pretty sight. Be back later to catch up.

  17. Mrs. H says:

Ask her if she got the Lucedale guy’s name! We probably know him.

As I was walking out of the post office this morning, a gentleman was walking in, whistling a tune. After a few notes, I recognized it as a jazz classic bearing my name. Yes, I turned around, walked up to him and asked him if he knew my name (after all, this IS George County and lots of people know other people’s names.) He said, “No” (with a rather shocked look on his face, I might add!) I told him he was whistling “******” and that was my name. Then I turned around and left!

  18. Clucky says:

Checking in at work. Stuck at an outlying location while waiting on others. I was out two days; I have THINGS TO DO!!!

  19. OldBopper says:

Afternoon! Went down to Seaside where we tried some “organic” hot dogs served on “organic” buns. I got a bottled coke and as I read the label, I saw it was bottled in Mexico. There was a big write up in the paper about these hot dogs so we tried them.

You want a really good dog? Hebrew National on a Sarah Lee wheat bun. It may not be organic, but it’s Kosher and pretty tasty.

  20. Mrs. H says:

The didgeridoo in my office just fell over and hit the filing cabinet. Almost scared me to death!

    • Mrs. H says:

It’s the northern edge of invest 93. Since it’s not officially a storm yet, it doesn’t officially have outer bands. But if it was, these would be them!

  21. Barb says:

bpman, I responded to your reply on the pyramid.

  22. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

About to get on the phone with Wild Blue to try to troubleshoot the modem problem.

  23. OldBopper says:

The tropical depression has increased our tides and reduced our beach from 200 feet to about 75 feet. The sun rose this morning and was quickly covered with clouds for the rest of the day. The locals tell us the tides will continue to rise throughout the evening. We have had a couple of sporadic, localized short rain showers today. Our waves have been 4 to 5 feet today and expected to be 5 to 7 feet tomorrow.

Went to Big Mamma’s Hula Girl Gallery 2nd Annual End of Summer Party this evening. The Hula Girl Gallery has everything from folk art to some reasonably serious stuff. We always go there to see what’s new. It’s a fun place to visit. Had a little wine and some snacks then went and had crabcakes and fried green tomatoes at a local resturant.

If things start to look bad, we will pull out of here tomorrow. Right now we’re thinking of heading directly north and then coming in through I-20 to try to avoid the worst of the weather.

  24. dhcoop says:

    OB, y’all be careful!

As I suspected (knew) the modem is toast… BUT they can’t do a service call without Big Sis’ consent. So now she will have to call them from the UAE to say it’s okay!!

BTW…I missed saying this earlier. ..Happy Anniversary to Leagle and BE!

  25. Legal Eagle says:

That y’all for the anniversary wishes. I hadn’t eaten a bite all day and was starving and BE wanted ribs so we went to Sonny’s and I am so stuffed I’m miserable and haven’t eaten but about half a rib. I love their chicken salad and since their baked beans and potato salad suck, I had a baked sweet potato with cinnamon butter and brought my corn on the cob home to go with the ribs I didn’t have room for. I may drop at any time now.
