I’m VERY happy! Dead modem has been replaced and I feel “connected” again!
Now, I’m not sure what to do with myself today, since I had thought I’d be stuck waiting on the service until they decided to show up. The young man that came was here before 8 a.m.! Had me back up and surfing in 30 minutes. Bonus of the morning was that Big Sis called me from the UAE! She said she was on the golf course sweating bullets and hoped I was freezing to death. I told her it was quite comfortable here!
Mooring gang! Been up since 5. M had ACT this morning, hubby hair appointment, and me grocery shopping… All done,, M still taking tests. Now time for football.
Hey, y’all. I would love to go to the Muscadine Festival in Pelahatchie today. Ricky Skaggs is playing at 3:00 p.m., but I doubt that I will get there. I love muscadine jelly and even muscadine wine. And Duke’s is there, home of the hamburger steak and steak sandwiches and homemade onion rings.
I finished reading Davis Bunn’s “Lion of Babylon,” which I highly recommend, and started on an old Elmore Leonard novel.
Afternoon. Beautiful day out there. Went for a ride earlier this morning then to pay respects to the family of a dear friend who passed. Watching football right now.
I have cut the back yard finally after a long time. Still need to weedeat. I hope to get the sump pump done once the evening shade takes over that part of the courtyard. That will be 2 down and 1 to go. Still have my fountain to take a part and reinstall the hose to that pump and then put all the concrete peices back together. I don’t see that happening.
The Dawgs are not looking that good anymore, hopefully Auburn want blow them away too bad.
The good news is that I cut all 8.5 acres of grass today. The bad news is that I got too close to the pump house and a wheel of the lawn mower snagged on a hose that was attached to filter, knocking it over, which busted up ALL the PVC external to the pump. Water was gushing and I had no idea how to turn it off. I ran for Mr. H who was just settling down to watch the Dawgs. After a trip to Lowes, cutting, fitting, gluing new PVC, and re-priming the pump, we now have water again but the game is over. I have never felt so bad.
I’ve been completely worthless and lazy all day. Actually, I did some crocheting and watched some very interesting programs on National Geographic Wild about animals from conception to birth (lemon sharks, penguins, parasitic wasps, kangaroos, lions & kittens). It’s amazing the footage they get now. Then I started watching 9/11 footage and it completely wiped me out emotionally.
The backyard looks good, the sump pump is in. I can’t wait to see which way the water shoots out from the 3 connections that I did, on the first heavy rain? I guess the guy that is supposed to do the front yard will show up Monday.
I just read the entire lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner because of Marshall’s toon. I had never read the whole thing. I only knew the one verse that we’ve all know and have sung. You really need to read (and think about) the whole thing.
Written in 1814 by Francis Scott Keys
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Been up since 8….LAST NIGHT. MR, I drove to Decatur at 5am to get a C-L. Just because you said so.
Listening and watching 9/11 coverage on History Channel today. Cleaning cabinets, still. Ready to finish so I can get back to working on the rest of the house, esp. Chicklette’s room.
Getting ready for church. We’re all really excited: adult handbells, youth choir and Bible Drill all start tonight. The kids have been ready for Bible Drill since children’s drill ended in the spring.
Today I remember Karen Martin. She was the number one stewardess on board American flight 11. She was stabbed by one of the terrorists at the beginning of the hijacking. When I worked at a hotel in Lexington, we had the contract for the pilots and crew of Delta, American and another airline. Karen was one of the crew that regularly stayed at our hotel. It was policy that all wake-up calls were to be given personally, so as the PBX operator, it was my job to call every morning and wake them up. She was always so friendly and cheerful at 4am, and she was extremely nice all the time. She always seemed like she was doing what she wanted to do with her life.
May God bless all the people who continue to mourn the loss of loved ones around the world.
Good morning! Having a nice breakfast on the deck. It’s a beautiful day!
Mornin again!

So sorry about your accident with the pump MrsH, so glad MrH was home to take care of the situation for you.
Oh, MrsH!! That stinks!

I feel so disrespectful that I spelled his name wrong! It’s Key, not Keys!!
thanks for posting Coop!!!
Francis Scott Key wrote that song while being held on a British Ship.
I’d still rather have God Bless America or America The Beautiful for a national anthem but I was never asked.
Nite to you all.
Mawnin’ y’all. Early church and then to Southaven to celebrate oldest daughter’s birthday. She hits the big 4-0 tomorrow.
Good Sunday morning!! Safe travels OB and PQ and happy early birthday to your oldest :)
Mornin!
I’m getting ready to go to Peanut’s 10th birthday party. She was born on 9/12/01.

That is a very special memory. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck and have fun at churcht today.
On the return trip to Jackson. Lots of JSU football fans on the hey too. Some are crazy drivers. Guess you can find that in any crowd.
Auburn drivers are the worst. Trust me on that one.
Evenin!
AnnO, that’s an awesome memory! May she rest in peace.
I just got in from Peanuts birthday party. She wanted an 80s theme. She’s 10. Go figure…
BUT, a good time was had by all, other than the little boy that was afraid of balloons. He apparently had a bad experience in his past…
I have never heard of a fear of balloons, although I don’t like blowing them up because I don’t like them to burst.
My cat is terrified of Smiley balloons!!
