Morning folks. I’m stumbling around trying to wake up! We’re off to church in a while, then back to the farm for a relaxing afternoon. I hope you all have a pleasant day!
Good morning.
Looks like rain here in the Big Thicket.
Rain is supposed to move in here tonight. We have flash flood watches through Tuesday morning!
Mornin!
Having a great weekend! I’ll check in later with more.
Seems like the girls have a band friend who is rather loose with his footwear. Mr. H found a large pair of black Dinkles (band shoes) in the bed of Em’s truck when he left for church this morning. Then when I was putting El’s uniform bag in the back of my car, I looked to see if her Dinkles were in the bottom. No . . . but there was a large pair of tennis shoes in it! Her band shoes were in the floor of her room. Someone will be happy to be shod this afternoon at the band concert!
morning gang! been up most the night with muscle cramps in my legs. But I am up and slow moving.
Proud how USM and LSU did yesterday.
We have a Christmas party tonight. Our Christmas with C’s roommate before she goes home for the holidays next week.
Everyone have a great day!
The boys hate cleaning the house. So I broke out our chores into small time-dependent goals and we worked as a team. We got done an hour quicker. Lesson learned.
You’re on the right track, MR, as always!
We just finished watching the premier of Lady GaGa’s video “Marry The Night.” I then had to go to youtube and watch some Bee Gees to clear my mind.
Good morning did some errands, the Parrot has had his showers. Now off to the hosptial. I want my usuall from El Sombrero but just don’t think the salsa is a great breakfast food on an an empty stomach. So guess I will do without again :(
Hope everyone has a great Sunday. Loves and Hugs to all.
Good morning to all. Enjoying the sun before the rain, hope all have a good day
Just saw on Christiana Amanpour’s Sunday news show where there’ll be a new movie coming out soon about the Bosnian war, (from back in the 90’s).
If your still there dwb810, I know you said on yesterdays free-for-all that ya’ll lived in South City. I was wondering if you were close to the StL’s Bosnian community that is in South City?
I was told STL accepted something like 50 thousand Bosnian war refugees, that eventually made South City STL their own.
When I first moved to the STL I worked out in retail car sales, at one the largest volume stores in the U.S (at that time), (for that particular brand we offered for sale). I became one of the main salesmen that would cater to the Bosnians when they’d come in to buy a vehicle off the pre-owned side. (Because many of the other salesmen were predjudice against the Bosnians).
After coming from the delta, where for the most part its one color predjudice against another, I found it amazing how there was this same predjudice among my white co-workers against white bosnians. Really amazed me. Especially after hearing bits & pieces of stories about the God awful acts of war they had survived (and the loss of so many of their loved ones that hadn’t). I heard them called dirty stinky bosnians & also heard the excuse that you shouldn’t assist them because they can’t get a loan anyways, no credit.
Little did those racist knotheads know, but the bosnian community obviously had a friend within the “Southern Commercial Bank”. (Which I think is down in South County. Well, not only did I meet some truely wonderful & inspiring pple from South City & get a neat look into a different culture, I was rewarded with many more sales to their pple even after I had left that particular dealership & was working elsewhere.
Anyways dwb810, hope your job hunt pans out.
*And because that particular bank was willing to make loans to those Bosnians, it meant that the dealership where I worked missed out om profits within the dealerships F & I office*
Just another poke in the eye to some that worked their I guess.
Coop, I don’t know if you’ve seen today Clarion-Ledger, but on page 3E there is an article about Christmas ornaments that are available from the Mustard Seed. A frog ornament wearing a Christmas hat immediately caught my eye and I thought about you and your new avatar on FB. It was made by N’Krebls studio. Their studio is in Brandon and their website is nkreblpotterystudio.com. I went to their website and while I didn’t see any Christmas ornament pictures there, they do list a telephone number. I didn’t go to mustardseedinc.org, however, because BE is chomping at the bit for me to get dressed and go somewhere with him. It may be worth checking out.
Hey bpman, I am just about a block from River Des Peres where the Metro Link is. From what I have seen, there is not a huge bosnian presence.
Afternoon folks. We’re back from the mountain top and out of the rain. Lots of rain in Arkansas last night and through the morning. Finally cleared it after leaving Southaven, MS.
Glad to report all’s well in Arkansas. With lots of luck I won’t have to go back for a long time. Sorry, but the Ozarks are not my cup of tea.
Glad to see USM get the Hawaii bowl. Nice trip for the team.
Hey Olbopper, I was in the Mountain View during the weekend og the “Out-house Races”. Enjoyed the beautiful weather that fall colored weekend. Picked up a new coffee mug at the “Ozark Folk Center”. The only thing I really missed was being able to enjoy a mexican dinner inside or out on the patio of the historical previous Ford Dealership on the town square. It used to be so a fancy lil Mexican Resterraunt, all while keeping murals & such in the building to remind folks of the old days when it used to be an auto dealership.
Unfortunately the Feds came into sleepy lil Mountain View, arrested & took away the Latino’s the ran & operated the resteraunt. Heard they might a been deported, but never found anyone that really knew where authorities sent them.
My understanding is the Mexican place was selling a lot more than food.
When you see or hear of a good restaurant in Mountain View go try it out. It may not be open next week. I’ve seen a bunch start up and go out of business.
Yup. I figured they was sellin’ moonshine too. Bein’ in the area they were in, they prolly were cuttin’ in on some a the hillbilly’s territory. At least now the mountain locals can back to feelin’ safe an all.
;-)

Evening everyone!
Glad to see DWB810 with us and welcome back to bpman!!
Thanks Barb! I still make my weekly trip to Columbia. There’s actually a lil camper I’ve been eyeballin’ over there for months. Its at the auction. Its a repo. Auction is waiting for the bank to provide a title. I’m thinking its time to get the kids out to see the rest a the country, other than just MS & MO. And the couple states in between.
Is the auction why you go to Columbia every Friday?
Why yes ma’am it is. Its not quite all the way to Columbia. Bout 10 min east of town actually. Now there is another auction on Thursdays that’s in town, but I haven’t attended that sale in a few yrs.
Good evening everyone. I have been fit to be tied today. It is tuff enough sitting at a hospital even tougher when you find out at 5:30 that someone you love has been running a fever again at 101.5 when it was known at 2:00. I could have strangled that nurse good thing she was gone. When I left it was down to 99.7. It was like she could not give his brother and I the time of day at 2:00 oh that is correct she didn’t.
I will try to stay off my soap box the rest of the evening.
I just finished a Frosty from Wendy’s and am freezing—where’s my blankie??
PM, any time you need a soap box, consider us all ears.
I’m finally home after leaving at 8:45 a.m. I’m part of the children’s large group story tellers during Sunday School. We did a song from our Christmas musical in “big church.” The church staff had our Christmas family luncheon after church. Then at 2:00 we were in Lucedale for the girls’ Christmas concert. The rehearsal for children’s Christmas musical was at 3:30. (I had a part in that, even though I’m not a chil’ren!) The performance was at 5:30. Then at 6:30 we had adult choir practice because our musical is next Sunday night. I couldn’t stand the thought of more noise, so I’m hiding out in my room where it’s quiet.
We just got home from Chef Eric’s house where we consumed a goodly portion of the big pan of jumbalaya he made and brought a large go box home. And then we stopped on the way home and bought one of those Edwards turtle pies. BE just handed me a piece of pie and I’m in heaven!
Goodnight. Prayers ascending!
