Mawnin’ y’all. A pretty day outside. Need to get my mower cranked so I can take care of the pine straw and leaves. I run my neighbor, who has a leafless lawn, nuts because I only rake mine once.

Hope everybody has a fun Friday.

    • blues4you says:

I’m with you, OB. Rake once and be done with it.

And if that’s all your neighbor has to worry about, then we should all be so lucky.

    • cardinallady says:

I’ve got to do some raking too OB. Thankfully tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day so I can clean the chicken pen out and pile it up with pine straw and leaves. The snow is a coming, and I want my chickens to sleep as warm as possible against the cold weather.

I’m cooking some black beans for lunch and have the whole place smelling good!

  10. cardinallady says:

Afternoon everybody!!! Mmmmmmmmm Coooop I KNEW I was smelling something that absolutely was watering my tastebuds! One day I’ve got to try this bean soup recipe that I put on my cook page last month. (I think I’m only going to use black beans instead of the 16 beans)
    1 pound 16 beans mix
    2 quarts chicken broth
    1 ham bone
    1 can Rotel tomatoes
    1 chicken, stewed and chopped
10 bell peppers, cut in strips
    1 quart canned tomatoes
    1 quart tomato juice
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    salt and pepper to taste

Mix together and cook all day.

That just made me OFFICIALLY HUNGRY!!!

PQ is at a church women’s conference so I ate at KFC this evening. We’ve had a little rain out this way and a lot of fog in the low lying areas or areas close to water.

I guess MrsH and her eldest are having a good time looking at bridal things. We’re in pretty good shape on that. The biggest thing left is to set the reception menu.

Boy, I wish Haley could have stayed in the presidential race. I do believe he would be one of the top two by now. It’s amazing to me how people jump into the race with absolutely no prior planning. Romney is the only one with a game plan. Of course he’s been around the block before as has Ron Paul

Rick Perry is running because his wife wants to be First Lady. Gingrich is running because he now has a wife he considers to be young enough and pretty enough to be First Lady. Ron Paul doesn’t know why he’s running but he is sure he wrote those newsletters, oops not really sure, well he didn’t write those things but if he explains, the American public just won’t understand. Rick Santorum wants to be the darling of the evangelicals. He also wants to bomb Iran. The guy left the Senate to work as a “consultant” to businesses he supported with legislation while in the Senate and has made a bundle. A college audience booed him off the stage in New Hampshire. So that leaves us with the two Mormons which also are two former governors. Hey, they go to church, don’t drink and appear to be missing skeletons in their closets. But a lot of people are just unsure about that “unusual” religion. Of course the same could be said when Jack Kennedy ran. I tell you it’s a crazy election year!

  16. Barb says:

Coop and msblondie, there is an OEC in Brandon, also. I love their fried rice with steak, chicken or shrimp!! It is on Hwy 80.

  17. Legal Eagle says:

We went to the Chinese buffet in front of Wal-Mart in Pearl for lunch today and I love their sushi, especially the ones with the cream cheese and avacado. I have some leftover favorite salad from Newk’s that I’m thinking of digging into soon and it’s loaded with roasted garlic and CAPERS!!!!!!!!!

I finished reading “Wild Orchids” by Jude Deveraux” yesterday morning and just finished “The Litigators” by John Gresham. I think of all of his books, this has to be my favorite so far. When I, of all people, found myself with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat, pulling for a group of lawyers, I knew I was in trouble.

Barb, I’ve already become Maxine and it’s wonderful. Once you reach that certain age, you suddenly become confident enough to tell it like it is, even if it’s a little harsh for some folks to hear. Not really that bad all the time, but occasionally someone will ask me what I really think and I no longer feel it necessary to hold back.
