Mornin
PM, I hope PD didn’t damage his wrist too bad. Maybe just sprained.
It’s going to be another foggy drive this morning. Everyone stay safe.
Foggy down south, too, Coop.
OB, we have considered the cowbells, but dang, those things are expensive. I’m betting that if we got the word out, though, enough cowbells would materialize at the reception for a ringing send-off. Did I mention that Mark is performing the ceremony? Even the minister has his own cowbell!
The cowbells would be a riot and something quite unusual.
I see where the new person the CL has covering the Capitol writes a good story but has no idea of the legislative process. That happens when you get rid of good people for cheaper help.
AW, hoping to hear good news from you soon. PM, you and PD stay in my thoughts. I wish I knew of some answers to help. Coop, can you keep us apprised of Orville’s progress since CornPop has basically gone silent for Lent.
Alright folks, heads up, forward march.
Good morning.
I wish we had done the cowbell thing at our wedding 28 yrs ago. Nobody loves MSU more than Mrsblues.
Good morning, Happy Thursday. CowBells for a wedding exit would be great!!!
morning gang! everyone have a great day!
barb: just saw you comment from last night.. M goes to Terry High.
PM: hope PD is ok and it is nothing serious with his wrist.
I don’t know why I thought you were one of the bloggers who lived out of town. I knew better.
OK, here’s a short update. The spinal tap that was done on Orville this past Friday showed more Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cells in his systemic system (brain & spinal fluid). It is CNS Lymphoma (secondary) and very unusual to be seen with the slow-growing bone lymphoma that he has – it ‘normally’ occurs with an aggressive cancer. He’s being referred to UMC specialist for treatment. That treatment will be with high, toxic dosages of Methotrexate and he will have to be admitted to hospital for two days with each treatment that will be done every other week. We don’t know how many he will have to undergo, but do know that he’s guaranteed to have the worst of the chemo side effects. Prior to his beginning that, though, they will first give him meds to stimulate the production of his bone marrow so they can harvest it to be ‘cleaned’ and ready to be reintroduced into his system after the chemo is completed. He will need a TOTAL bone marrow transplant and they will use his own marrow for that. He will need to be admitted to the hospital for 3-4 weeks when they do the transplant and, probably, be in isolation, too. Basically, his oncologist told him that once the Methotrexate has killed all his cells then the transplant will be done to ‘bring him back to life’. Orville didn’t like the way she put it, but I guess it’s the honest truth. He’s, actually, relieved because he knows that he can be treated and it’s possible that once this is all completed the cancer could be eliminated. We are all trying to remain positive. First thing is to get into see the oncologist at UMC (she specializes in bone marrow transplant, cancer & hematology) and his doctor has called her directly to expedite getting him into to see her as soon as possible. Time is of the essence!
Thank you for your concern and prayers, as mine are with all of you as well!
You know we are all praying for you and Orville!!
I guess the plus is knowing that it’s his own marrow that will be going back in: no chance for rejection or other incompatibilities.
Prayers for you both!
Corn Pop, I have a friend who went through a similar procedure about 20 years ago. Has been normal ever since. Wishing the same for Orville.
Thank you for that encouraging info, OB!
MrsH – you’re right about it being a + that it’ll be his own bone marrow.
Thank you, too, Coop & AW. :-)
Prayers definitely continue! I am so glad there is treatment for him.
Definitely in my thoughts and prayers. A friend had a bone marrow transplant from a donor a few years ago. There were some very rough patches during recovery, but she is doing GREAT now! On a humorous note, her donor was a man, so she now has male DNA.
That’s too funny, Molly! I’m hoping that his recovery from the transplant won’t be quite as bad as it could be since it WILL be his own bone marrow.
Assessment meeting went well. Dad is making progress albeit slow. But he is 88. I don’t think he’s going home soon. My Dad is doing well and Mom is worn out from running back and forth. I’ve encouraged her to slow down a bit!
Very glad to hear that your dad is improving. I can certainly understand how tired your mom must be.
My mantra: One day at a time…
Today is Baby Darling’s 40th birthday! We’re going out tonight to a nice restaurant to celebrate. She’s making me feel old!
Happy Birthday to Baby Darling!
CP Praying for you dear.
well got bingo with my mens tonight… got beads from mardi gras and moon pies for them.
I hope OB rode today! It’s 82 right now!
It never got that warm down here, but then, the sun never came out either.
That is good to hear about your Dad, AW. I hope he keeps getting stronger and better.
Prayers CornPop and Orville, You both have a long way to go before peace and quiet returns.
Happy Birthday to Baby Darling I hope you all have a fine meal tonight. Enjoy!!
Evenin
Well, I thought I had found a good new show, but The Finder has resorted to aliens and conspiracy theory. Disappointed.
In other news, it’s windy out!
I did ride today for a couple of hours. It was quite warm and I actually sweated a bit in the back. The back armor in the jacket doesn’t allow for air circulation and neither does the backrest. I would like to have ridden without the jacket, but since my accident, I wear all the protection I have all the time. Well, I don’t wear gloves all the time cause I just don’t like’em. But full face helmet, jacket with armor, and boots are standard.
It was a beautiful day for riding.
OB, I hated gloves until I found a pair that fit. Having small hands, that was a challenge. Most gloves have fingers that are an inch or more longer than mine so they would fold over at the ends and get in the way. Then I found a pair of JoeRockets that fit perfectly: they fit me like a ….. well, you know ….. a glove!
LEagle, I just went back to see if you had responded to my post Tuesday night. I love “Bones”, so I really need to find some books by Kathy Reichs. Thanks for the info.
I just finished “Devil Bones” by Kathy Reichs this morning and started on her “Fatal Voyage.” I love discovering an author who is new to me but has written a lot of books before my discovery. Then I go back and read all of them I can find. I never discovered Greg Iles until I read “Turning Angel” and then had to go back and read the rest of them and can’t wait for the next one.
My prayers go on day and night for all of you who need them and this morning I found out my friend L just found out that her son D has cancer, so she needs prayers too. If I waited until I went to bed at night, I would have to go to bed at 5:00 p.m. to get to sleep by midnight. I also know a very disturbed and delusional individual who needs someone’s prayers. I’m too close to the situation to have any sympathy whatsoever for the craziness to do any good and it would be hypocritical of me to say that I ever gave that one a try.
6:30 AM Good Friday morning!!!! Going to be windy and cold, Brrrr….
