    Oh

    My

    Goodness!!!!

Would you call a church asking for help to purchase Easter baskets for your children?

    • cardinallady says:

My parents never even asked for help for CHRISTMAS presents for us. the year that there was no money, and I’m talking dad was out of work for a year, we made our christmas presents. It was the most special Christmas of all. and Easter, a dollar box of egg dye will color three or four dozen eggs which are on sale these days. You can make six kids happy with about ten bucks.

    • Mrs. H says:

Mr. H said that Easter baskets are a pagan religious observation, so no, we should not assist.

I didn’t put it in those terms, but that was mainly my reasoning. And Easter baskets are definitely a “want” not a “need.”

    • Airwolf says:

Oh no! Just boil some eggs and dye them. Or buy some candy. Easter is not about easter baskets!

Mrs. H., no, I would not. So sad that is what holidays have become to many people. We got candy for Easter, period, when I was growing up. Now it’s all about these huge baskets or expensive gifts. Eventually, there is a point that you can’t “outdo” anymore. Thankfully, my girls are older and are in on the secret, and if we were in less fortunate circumstances, I could explain to them and they would understand. But more than that, I hope I have instilled in them the true meaning of these holidays.

  7. Old Bopper says:

When I was a child I think I always had an Easter basket with candy and goodies in it. It’s funny, but that’s not what I remember about Easter. My most favorite memory of chil!dhood Easters was our family attending the Easter Sunrise Services on Fort Hill in Vicksburg. What a beautiful occasion!

Had a good ride this afternoon. Totally enjoyable. I think I am going to take advantage of the weather again tomorrow. I see where Blue Bell is going to be on sale tomorrow. I gave up ice cream for Lent but I plan to stock up for next week. Also noticed that Belk has a sale tomorrow and Saturday where if you buy one sport coat, you will get two free. It’s worth checking out.
