Sad day across the street at the Jackson Police Department’s headquarters. TV trucks are lined up and reporters are completing their live shots for the morning broadcasts. Det. Eric Smith, a face I had seen around as I walked in and out to my car, was murdered yesterday while interviewing a murder suspect.
A sad day all around.
Mornin
Such a sad day. Prayers going out to the family and friends of this good man.
morning gang! It is Friday :)
It is a sad day. Prayers for this officer’s family.
My Dad was an officer on with the JPD back in the ’60’s. I’ve always felt like, because they all wore the same uniform, that somehow, we were family.
good morning to you all. I slept till 8:00 that hasn’t happened in a long time. Of course it helped not going to bed till 1:00 am.
I was stunned yesterday when I received a text about the officer. Prayers for his family and the JPD.
I can’t imagine how it feels to lose one in the line of fire. I suspect that even in booking and interviewing suspects will have their hands and feet chained here to fore.
Dear Lord, please surround the family members of that brave soul with Your love and comfort today. We pray that in the midst of their personal tragedy that YOUR light will shine and that people will come to the Kingdom because of this dear one’s life. Draw all concerned, from the police chief to the officers he worked with to the entire community to Your great heart because we know that it is big enough to handle even the biggest tragedies we face. Thank You that there is room at the cross for all hurting souls. Send your ministering angels to soothe their soul and Your sweet Holy Spirit to minister to their spirit. We lift these dear ones to Your throne of grace today. In Jesus’ sweet name, Amen.
I was shocked to learn he had been disarmed and killed by the suspect-who was then killed by another officer. We always see on TV that there are 2 officers with a suspect and one-way glass with others watching during an interview. I cannot imagine how those working in that office must feel. God bless his family-by blood or badge.
Amen. CLady
Clucky I agree. Makes you wonder if the whole truth will be known.
Clucky, I saw the same article you are referring to. It said another officer shot the killer multiple times. Now the story is that the killer committed suicide. Either way, shooting an officer inside the Police station is just temporarily delaying suicide. Suicide by police. I’m just glad there won’t be an expensive trial. He got what he asked for.
Marshall, this must have been taken before the death was announced. I’m guessing the flag is at half staff now.
Afternoon folks! It’s been a beautiful day up here!
Taxes are done and filed. Even had a little left.
We’re taking Mom with us for supper.
So sorry to hear about the JPD Officer, law enforcement seems to be under attack every where!
I had dinner at the Blue Rooster in Clinton. They do burgers, chicken, and side orders. The prices were reasonable but I still love my Roosters in Fondren. They have the best burgers.
The police shooting range is just a couple of blocks away from us and they just started up again. The dog used to hate it, but she doesn’t pay much attention to it anymore.
Suicide my ass. This one yesterday was strictly suicide by cop after he wrestled the homicide detective’s gun away and killed him with his own gun. My oldest child thinks she worked with Eric Smith years ago at Wendy’s when she was young and he was still in high school.
Good Saturday morning to you all. I know Marshall is probably extra busy with the “Run From the Sun” race later today. Praying you have a great turnout and all goes well.
The roofers were here shortly after 7:00 am my poor parrot is beside himself. I wonder if they make tylenol or ibuprofen for them. His head will be pounding by the end of this day.
I’m printing out directions now for Run For The Sun. When I go north of County Line Road, I may as well be in another country. I don’t mingle with the snowbirds often, but for MR, it’s a different story.
I hope to see y’all this afternoon at the 10th Run From The Sun!
Beautiful day in the neighborhood!
Heart broken, we lost one of our young men who grew up in our church last night. He was 22 and had an auto accident in Birmingham!
That’s sad AW, We had an awesome ride today through the country roads to Onward Store for lunch then the interstate back home. What a beautiful day!
I had a great time at Run From The Sun yesterday and it was great to see MR, Stacy and Ace! They will be at our 5th annual pick-a-nick next Saturday.
Where is everyone?
