MRBA Free-For-All

Good morning! I hope you survived the Freezing Fog this morning!

It has been 17 years since I moved to Mississippi. You’ve been a big part of the joy I’ve experienced since. Thank you.

    Good morning.

No freezing fog in my neck of the woods. Just a hard frost.

I’ll always have to thank you, Marshall, for creating this place.

It has been a real pleasure.

  3. parrotmom says:

    Happy Monday morning!!

Blues I second what you said. Marshall so glad you are part of Mississppi and I’m a piece in your puzzle.

    Everyone have a good one

  4. Clucky says:

    Ten days til Christmas.

I’ll be taking my cat to the vet for her follow up checkup today. Staples come out today! She can’t jump for at least 3 more weeks so her broken pelvis can heal. She’s been sweet in spite of the crate treatment for ten days. Love my little Juno.

Chicklette made fudge yesterday. Ohh Myyyyy.

  5. Molly says:

Mmmmm….fudge. Haven’t made any of that yet. I have made Peppermint Meltaways, Red Velvet Cake Balls and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough truffles. I have butter cookie dough made and ready to roll out, cut out, decorate and bake. Will be working on that tonight.

  6. Cardinallady says:

I second Blues motion fudge would be nice toooo. :). Marshall I don’t know what I’d do without these dear friends you have allowed me to meet. You have created a family for me that I cherish each day. Thanks. I’m glad you chose to make Mississippi your home

  7. parrotmom says:

Happy Tuesday. I appreciate each one of my friends in this wacky place. Thank you for keeping me going. You may not know when you do this but you all are a breath of fresh air and remind me there is a big wide world out there.

Now pass me some fudge, cookies, red velvet cake balls, and any other goodies.

  8. msblondie says:

    morning gang!

ooh the sweets sound good. I haven’t made anything yet. I gotta get busy just so much going on.

    everyone have a great day!

  9. Molly says:

Okay, Blues, red velvet cake balls on the fax now. Enjoy.
Finished the cut-out cookies last night. Still need to make some fudge. And I’m thinking we may need some Snickerdoodle bread.
Everybody help yourself to any of the goodies you want.

  10. blues4you says:

    nomnomnom…thanks

  11. Airwolf says:

Afternoon! I’ve been on my roof again getting the last of the oak leaves. I’m glad OB is on the coast, he would have stroked from my 300 hp leaf blower. Got em down now I’ve gotta clean up my mess!

Ladies keep baking I’m gaining weight reading about it!

Glad you settled in Mississippi Marshall!!!!

  12. Molly says:

I love baking, AW. In my next life I think I will be a baker. In this life, I wish it didn’t kill my back to be on my feet for so long at a time. It seems my favorite recipes take a while…either they have to be rolled into balls and then dipped in a candy coating, or they have to be rolled out, cut out and decorated. I still make them though; I can’t help myself. I now have all the time consuming projects done.
My fudge is easy … takes maybe 5 minutes, if you count the time it takes to get the ingredients out of the pantry. Snickerdoodle bread will be easy.
At lunch today, I made hot chocolate mix. It’s a new recipe and I sure hope it is good seeing as my 32-cup mixing bowl is completely full! I plan to give large quantities to bosses/co-worker. I’ll have to try it out tonight…even if it is spring time weather today.

  13. Clucky says:

I’d love that 5 minute fudge recipe!!
I finally quit whining and went to the clinic yesterday. Two shots-feel some better already.

Well, we had a death in the family, so I held off on taking Juno to the vet-we’ll tasked her today. In the meantime, our Siamese kitty ran behind the truck yesterday morning and was killed. We all still have the sads. Siiiiiigh.

The kid’s step-grandmother died of leukemia. Her funeral was at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetary between Newton and Hickory. They said it was beautiful. I’ve driven by it before and noticed, but they were blown away by the beauty inside the memorial garden.

We all miss Mamaw Raine; she’s the kids great-grandma that passed away in March or April. She was our candy maker. Chicklette wants to go to her Mamaw’s and make candy this weekend :)

Thanks MR for bringing this group together!

  14. msblondie says:

    morning gang!
I need to make some candy. I haven’t yet. I have all the stuff for cookies, fudge, butterfingers. Maybe this weekend. I need to get my mom’s skillet cookie recipe.. soo good.

    everyone have a great day!

  15. Molly says:

Mornin. Hot chocolate mix is GOOD!!! There is a package of pudding mix in the ingredients. I think that may make the difference. I mixed it with hot milk which makes any hot chocolate mix better; haven’t tried it in water yet.
    Clucky, here’s that fudge recipe:

    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1/2 pkg semisweet chocolate chips
    1/2 pkg milk chocolate chips
    1 tsp vanilla
chopped walnuts or pecans, if desired (can’t remember how much because I don’t use them)

Put all chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in microwavable bowl and melt, stirring every 30 seconds or so until smooth (or melt on stove top, stirring constantly). Once melted, stir in vanilla and nuts. Pour into greased 8 x 8 dish and refrigerate until firm.

This is a very smooth, creamy fudge.

The recipe calls for all semisweet chocolate chips. I like it that way, but many complain that it is too dark. All milk chocolate makes it too soft. So, I split the difference and do roughly half and half (usually putting a little more semisweet than milk chocolate.) Kiddo doesn’t like nuts so I don’t put any in.

  16. blues4you says:

    Good morning from Yazoo county.

After being home for 2 days my office called and asked if I would come up here and start this well. Hoping to score some goodwill points by doing this. I also need the money. This would have been my “Christmas” week at home, alas, it is not to be. Got here on saturday and will probably leave for Texas this saturday or sunday.

Has anyone seen or heard from LegleEagle or Coop lately? I miss’em on here.

    Everybody be careful out there.

  17. Clucky says:

Leagle and I are in a tight game of Words with Friends, and I see her and Coop on FB sometimes.

    Love to ya, brother.

  18. parrotmom says:

Hi folks been a busy week so far. Two more days to go till after Christmas.

  19. msblondie says:

morning gang! Hard to believe Christmas will be here next Wednesday. I have to say this year has been fast and full of ups and downs.

    everyone have a great day!

  20. Molly says:

Hey. Same here, MsB… lots of ups and downs this year. I’m hoping 2014 has more ups than downs. I’m not sad to see 2013 go.
Really quiet at the office this week. No one wants to work on legal stuff right during the holidays. Makes for a rather boring work day.
I am done with my Christmas shopping. But now am doing my dad’s shopping for mom. She’s picky and he’s a procrastinator, so finding her specific requests is a challenge. I ordered one thing for her online this morning that is supposed to be here by Monday or Tuesday. Crossing fingers. Another thing will be picked up tonight, but will be a color variation from her request. Maybe she won’t mind too much.

  21. blues4you says:

Yes, it’s been an “interesting” year.

Will have to work Christmas and New Year’s eve/day but trying to look at it as a positive.

  22. Clucky says:

Got to see the Boss this evening in Philly! It looked like he was still rocking and rolling at 730.

    Home. Bed. Meds. Kleenex. Nitey-nite.

  23. parrotmom says:

Happy Friday!! My last day to work till next Thursday. I work for a wonderful company. I may get frustrated at times, but nothing is perfect.

You all take care and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  24. msblondie says:

    Happy Friday gang!

    Everyone have a great day!

  25. Molly says:

Mornin. I finished Dad’s Christmas shopping last night, well except for the vacation Mom wants. Dad is on his own for that one.
Made Snickerdoodle Bread last night. I had forgotten how good it is. Yum!

  26. blues4you says:

I feel like the late George Goebel on the Johnny Carson when he said, “Do you ever feel like the world’s a tuxedo and you’re a pair of brown shoes?”

  27. Clucky says:

Great analogy, blues. Hope you are well, my friend!

  28. parrotmom says:

Good Saturday morning 6:50 am. Hope you all have a terrific day.
    Love, hugs, and prayers.

  29. parrotmom says:

Happy Birthday Marshall. Hope your day is full of Joy and Love.

  30. Old Bopper says:

    Happy Birthday Boss!

  31. Old Bopper says:

Merry Christmas ere’body! Next year PQ and I are definitely going on a trip for Christmas. Our oldest daughter will have to work Christmas Eve. Our youngest will be at her mother-in-laws for Christmas dinner. We have been invited. We’re going. My sister will be in New Orleans until Christmas Eve and then they are going to Vicksburg to spend Christmas there. I have a cousin who has taken over Mom’s guest cabin for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas so I can’t go see my Mom at Christmas. We are going to try to get up there after Christmas for a quick trip and plan to see my Sister who now lives in Oxford on the same trip. We’re all scattered out and don’t get together as a family any more. Takes a lot of fun out of the holidays. Sooooooo, next year I’m hoping for the Caribbean.

  32. Molly says:

Happy Birthday, Marshall. Hope you have had a great one.

  33. Cardinallady says:

It is now 12am the day after Marshall’s birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAYy dear.

Jon and I spent the day cleaning the living room I won’t even tell you the last time I was in it for any length of time. It has been the catch all place since the end of June took us a while to unload it. We put the tree up went Christmas shopping and then decorated the tree. Going to wrap presents today and will be ready for Christmas except that I need to get him a couple of thi ga and get the resr of the stuff for wassail and presents for our neighbors

  34. parrotmom says:

    It’s Monday, Christmas Eve, Eve!!!!

Hope you all are well. Love and hugs!

  35. Molly says:

Mornin. A bit chilly out this morning. AW, Card — did the weather get bad up your way this weekend?
I burned a CD with some of my favorite Christmas songs last night and have it playing in the office now. Boss is a bit of a grinch and he may make me turn it off when he gets here. He hates Christmas music. Don’t know what’s wrong with him.
Other than 2 gifts for hubby I need to wrap at lunch, I am complete and ready for Christmas. Bring it on!

  36. msblondie says:

    Morning gang!

Been a busy weekend – Had our Family Christmas at Mom and Dad’s last night. They all loved the scarves and socks I had made them. And my dad loved the shoes I did for him ( I will get some pics posted on FB soon).

Tonight is Christmas at our house with the girls. Then Christmas day is at Hubby’s mom’s and we go over to my mom’s to get stockings.

I have Christmas music going at my desk.

    Everyone have a great day!

  37. Clucky says:

    It’s Christmas Adam!
(I borrowed that from MarkW :))
Nieces will be here tomorrow for a couple of days. I feel honored!

I took a nasty spill Friday night and it really ticked me off. I’m almost over my cold, but my right shoulder is like NOPE every time I try to lift anything more than my purse. Not again, dang it!!!

  38. Molly says:

Took me a second on that “Christmas Adam.”
Sorry you fell Clucky. That’s no fun.
I was hoping the office would close at lunch today, but it’s not. At least the “me” part is not. Everybody else is gone for the day.
MsB, you have been busy. We will only have one Christmas. Well, 2, but both on Christmas Day. We’ll have ours at home in the morning and then on to my parents a little later. Hubby doesn’t have any family and Kiddo is still at home. When she gets married, I guess things will change up a bit.

  39. Clucky says:

My kids have Christmas with their Dad on Christmas Eve afternoon, grands Christmas Eve night, here for beignets and cocoa Christmas morning, late lunch here, then Miss Thang will go to her boyfriend’s house on Christmas evening.
We’re making our own traditions for Christmas; this is our 3rd or 4th year to have beignets in the morning, red beans & rice, cornbread, etc., and seafood if we have any. It’s mighty fine. We’ll have 9 this year-I better get busy!

  40. blues4you says:

I would like to wish everyone on here peace, and a very merry Christmas.

  41. parrotmom says:

It’s Christmas Eve and good morning to all!

  42. Airwolf says:

    Merry Christmas friends!

  43. Clucky says:

    *waves*
    Love y’all!

  44. Molly says:

Merry Christmas! Kiddo no longer gets up at the crack of dawn (or earlier) to see what Santa brought. We’ll have to wake her in a bit. The pups have had a Christmas bath this morning already (a gift they would have been happy to live without!). They have to be clean to go to Grandma’s house in a bit.

  45. Cardinallady says:

Good evening! And merry Christmas to all of you. Has been a glorious three days off for me. Ease pray for us. A Guam took the life of a tupelo policeman and life won’t be right until he and his fellows are brought to justice

  46. Clucky says:

My nieces are back in New Orleans. Can’t wait to send my great-niece (named Nola) her copy of Banjo’s Dream. Yes, I’m late but y’all should expect that by now.

I’ve received some extremely upsetting news I’m not ready to share. I just ask that you keep our family in your prayers. Thanks so much.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.

    • cardinallady says:

Dear Lord Jesus, while we don’t always know or understand what is going on in another’s life, I am so grateful that You do. Thank You that you can be right there beside Clucky in South Mississippi and with me here in Pontotoc at the same time. I pray that you will hold her family in Your tight grip. God how we thank you that as that great hymn says ‘Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side, Bear patiently thy cross of grief or pain, Leave to thy God to order and provide in every change He faithful will remain.’
And God I thank you that you are faithful. Fill their lives with comfort and joy and we will be careful to give You the thanks and praise. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

      Love you sister!!!

  47. msblondie says:

    morning gang!

    everyone have a great day!

  48. parrotmom says:

Mornning everyone. Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas Day. Nice short work week. You all have fun.

  49. cardinallady says:

Prayers please. Just learned that cousin killed himself in the night.

  50. Clucky says:

Just heard the helicopter fly overhead going to the hospital. It’s 1225 am.

  51. msblondie says:

    Happy Friday everyone!

Cardinal ooh no I am so sorry, prayers for your family.

Now that Christmas is over. I have to start making baby stuff. The grandbaby will be here in about a month.

    Everyone have a great day!

  52. parrotmom says:

    Prayers CLady (((((((((❤️)))))))

Everyone take care and be safe.

  53. Molly says:

Mornin. Sorry to hear about your cousin, Card!
Pretty day today. Cold, but pretty blue skies.

  54. cardinallady says:

Afternoon. I’m here. Woke up at 20 til 8 this morning and guess who had to be here at 8 to open? I literally climbed out of bed pulled on clothes and hit the door. Still trying to find my beak and my tailfeathers. when I get them found I’ll be back.

  55. parrotmom says:

Happy Monday morning! Marshall enjoy your day off.

  56. Airwolf says:

Happy Monday! I hope you got everything you wanted for Christmas! I hope you have an abbreviated week if you’re working!

  57. Molly says:

Mornin. Christmas was a good one at my house. Kiddo didn’t have a clue what was under the tree for her. But every gift was something she had said she wanted. And she was pleased.

  58. Clucky says:

Monday morning. Had Thing 2 at work early after 3 hours of sleep. Tried going back to sleep but sleep won’t come. Guts in a knot and I’m immobilized by fear. What to do, what to do.

Y’all have a good day. Gonna roll over and try once more.

  59. msblondie says:

Morning gang! look like it might be a 3 day week for me. I am hoping so, I need the extra day to work on baby stuff. We are in count down mode. I also need to take down my Christmas stuff. Have started just need to finish.

    everyone have a great day!

  60. cardinallady says:

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Monday afternoon!! My newspaper is to bed. I am off of work tomorrow and the next day. Gonna stay up late and have fun with cardinalson tonight. He is getting plenty of wood around so we can have a crackling fire on this cold rainy night that is already changing to sleet at my house.
