I’m craving the 100-degree weather of August — no, I’m really not. But it is cold. Very cold. I hope I have my house weatherproofed enough. It’s heck when Minnesota comes to Mississippi.

BRRRRRR!!!! morning gang! Brrrr!!
Everyone stay warm and have a great day!
Hey folks.
Finished up in Huntsville, Tx and drove to Monroe, La to start another well. Busy busy busy…..
Y’all stay warm.
Evening to you all. I hope you are all staying bundled up and not having any issues. Hang on and we’ll get through it.
Brrrrrrrrrrr even the birds are shaking! Gotta get home and add another log to the fire and shut up the chickens and get the dogs in and cook supper. I miss CardinalSon already. He spoiled me by getting all this done these past 21 days while on Christmas break.
I guess my body thought hoping to bed before ten meant a nap. Good gravy!
Today, January 7, would have been my sister’s 57th birthday.
*sniff* ((((((((clucky)))))))) I can’t imagine. I know you miss her. Love you girl.
Every day, CLady. I can just see her and Mama watching me and shaking their heads sometimes!
And I was mistaken-she would have turned 58. She never seemed older than 40.
Mornin. Wind is not blowing today so it doesn’t feel as cold to me as it did yesterday morning. I can handle the cold when the wind isn’t blowing and it’s not raining.
It must be too cold for everybody else in the office. It is 8:25 and no one else has shown up or called in (office opens at 8:00). Guess I have the place to myself. I needed to run in Kroger across the street before work, but didn’t want to be late, so I didn’t. Now I wish I had.
morning gang!
everyone have a great day!
Morning to you all.
On the radio this morning, the guy said that somewhere in Minnesota was colder than Mars this morning. And that a zoo was bringing in its polar bears and penguins because it was too cold for them outside. What in the world? That is just too cold.
I did go exercise yesterday morning when my class met, but I left my sweatshirt and gloves on and wished I had a hat. Since we meet in a glorified shed, I could see my breath. And there were lots of breaths as I slugged through the workout. Egad. I took the day off to run a bunch of errands; I didn’t know at the time I made all the appts that it would be the coldest day of several years and too cold for polar bears! I’m just not cut out for it. 100 degrees and 90% humidity, please!
Hope y’all all had nice holidays and are back in the swing of a new year.
I unfroze my tail feathers from the branch. Got my paper to bed. My brain is ftozen though. No telling what I put in this paper.
My goodness, it’s been a while since I was here. I apologize.
El is a junior this year. Her boyfriend is a senior. He is the leader of our youth praise band and plays in the regular praise band (with Mr. H) on Sunday mornings. He had an interview Sunday afternoon with a church in town about being their worship leader and youth pastor! He won’t hear for certain until probably this Sunday. If they call him, they had best love him or they will have at least 2 mothers taking them to task.
GrammarGirl, you can keep your 100 degrees and 90% humidity! If I had to choose between today and that, I would take today. Now, if it was windy and rainy, I would have to think a little harder about it.
Found out that the boy I had a major crush on in 6th grade died of cancer over the weekend. He and I both moved to Troy, AL the summer before 6th grade. As the new kids, we bonded. I don’t think he ever knew I had a crush on him, but I sure did. I moved away right after 9th grade and never saw him again, but thought of him from time to time. From what I have heard, my friend was still an amazing guy and will really be missed.
I did not know until today that his father was the head football coach at Troy State University back then. (6th grade girls don’t care about that kind of thing!) And what will impress my husband is that he was the head coach at University of Kentucky before that. He played under Bear Bryant at UK, and coached under Bear at UK and followed him to Alabama before becoming the head coach at UK.
Mrs. H, I have some of your red beans going in the crock pot as we speak. I got home at lunch and was disappointed that I didn’t smell them as I walked in the door. Went to check, and OOPS! forgot to turn it on this morning. I plugged it in but didn’t turn it on. So, it is cooking on high for the afternoon. Hope that’s gonna work. Good thing I go home at lunch every day!
Hey folks.
Good to see you GG, it’s seems like it’s been awhile. I’m with you. Would much rather deal with the heat instead of cold. Especially at work.
Hope your beans get done in time for supper, Molly.
Stay warm.
Me, too, Blues. Supper may be a little late tonight. But it has been on high since about 12:15. I’m hoping 5 hours on high will be as good as 8 hours on low. I’ll find out in an hour or so.
It’s 06:30 folks! On your feet, let’s go! This ain’t no rest home!
Except for Old Bopper and AW.heh
I was on my feet at 6:30, Blues. Didn’t wanna be, but I was.
Beans were done when I got home yesterday. I apparently didn’t season them enough, though. Could have used a bit more taste.
That’s what tabasco/louisiana hot sauce is for.
I put some in; guess it wasn’t enough. I am NOT Cajun and don’t know how to do all that stuff right. In Tennessee and Kentucky and even Alabama, creole cooking was uncommon.
A couple of bay leaves are critical to a pot of rb&r.
After that, just salt pepper and lots of garlic. And onions, of course.
Andouille sausage if you have it, or any kind of smoked sausage.
I did all of that, except it wasn’t andouille sausage. But it was still a bit bland. I followed Mrs. H’s recipe exactly. I guess I need to experiment a bit.
Ain’t nothing a few shakes of Zatarain’s seasoning won’t fix.
morning gang! already been a busy one.
Fixen to brave to cold and leave my office to walk across the parking lot to the hospital to work on somethings. I know I can drive over but why waste the gas when the good Lord gave me 2 good legs to use and the distance is just a huge parking lot. plus it counts as exericise :)
Everyone be good!
Afternoon to you all. I don’t like the bone chilling cold, but very glad not associated with any rain/ice or gloomy gray.
Everyone take care. We will warm up and have rain—more yuck!
morning gang! everyone have a great day!
M heads back to the delta today. Time to start the next round of classes.

Did you ever make it to a doctor, Blues? If not, and if you can get to a store (don’t know how far out in the boonies you are), try Alka Seltzer Plus cold medicine. They make it in gelcap form now so you don’t have to “plop, plop, fizz, fizz” and the stuff really works! There is a daytime and a nighttime gelcap. Both work wonders. The nighttime one does knock you out though!
You got that right, Molly. We’ve been hoarding the stuff. And using it, too.
Molly, I try not to include too much hot stuff when I post recipes. Most folks don’t eat it as hot as we do. And most need more salt than we like. More Lea & Perrins and either hot sauce or cayenne pepper should fix you up. And the leftovers will be better than the first time.
MrsH, I still haven’t learned to knit. I can knit, but my hands don’t want to purl. Weird.
Evening everyone. Blues take care of yourself.
Evening every body. It is 11:47 pm central standard time. I went to the site several times to post today but just did get to it. My editor interrupted every time you’d have thought he wanted me to work or something. LOL. Got a good bit done. Made my list and got all done except for toning a picture a d writing a story which I can take care of tomorrow
I wanted some time to myself for the story any way. I have the awesome privilege of writing a memorial story on a lady who went home to be with Jesus at age 98 yesterday she has been a dear friend to me for all of my adult life. And while I cried at the first news of her passing from this life to the next one I can’t help but be joyful for her. She has earned her rest. She was a historian for our county and published several books

I hope to hear from my office this morning that relief is on the way. Probably be tomorrow though. Maybe I can get to the doctor on monday. Then, back to Texas on wednesday or thursday.
morning gang!
Blues hope you get to feeling better.
everyone have a great day.
At lunch, I doctored up those red beans and they were MUCH better! I don’t want anything particularly hot, so I didn’t add any more Tobasco. I put more Tony Chachere’s and Lea and Perrins, and added some seasoned salt. That did the trick.
Sunday! Sunshine! Sick again! Sinuses!
Mornin. Wet, soggy mornin. Thankfully the hard rain didn’t start until after I got to work and Kiddo got to school. She does have to drive from NWR to Hinds today for her class over there. I hope there’s a break in the rain for that trip.
Okay, gotta get busy. Have a great day, everybody!
Good Monday morning! raining in my neck of the woods too. I wanted to stay in bed with my little dog, Tuck. My brother gave me the dog at Thanksgiving. I guess you can say he was an early birthday present. He is somewhat house broken, but being a little boy dog he thinks that where ever he needs to stop and squat is the place to deposit “lemon juice” on the floor. He responds well to puppy pads for the more serious business, though, which helps.
He is my traveling dog. He doesn’t mess or wee in the car. I love him so much. He is only ten inches high, floor to head, and about two feet long nose to tail. Brother said he was half/half miniature doberman pincer and chiuaua, which means he is a feist. Heh.
morning gang! late getting here today… been a busy morning.
everyone have a great day!
It is wet and nasty!! My cohort has pink-eye so she stayed home this morning. The Music Bro. is spraying Lysol everywhere. And they took issue with her red feathery Valentine’s wreath on the office door. It’s now hanging on the back of the Ladies’ Room door.
*giggle*
Tuesday morning, still chilly, but supposed to warm up later today. I went to bed last night with a sinus/migraine headache. Thank God it was gone this morning!
I’ve got a lot to get done today! TTFN :)
