good Tuesday morning!!!!! please don’t forget to vote.

  2. OldBopper says:

Voted absentee a few days ago…one of the perks of getting old.

Mawnin’ y’all. Another hot one in store. Glad I didn’t volunteer this year to work at the polls as an official or a poll watcher for a candidate. It will be the first time in a long time. After all, I am retired.

Hope all of you have a great day and that my choices win! (Ha, that’ll be the day!)

  3. Mrs. H says:

OB, I’m conflicted about which primary to vote in. I would really like to vote for most of our county offices (sheriff, circuit clerk, etc.) but they are ALL on the democrat ballot.

    • Mrs. H says:

Should I vote that way and just leave blank the other offices (like guv and lt. guv)
because I wouldn’t vote for those candidates in a general election? Is that the right thing to do?

    • cardinallady says:

Ms. H. I’m just now coming in but I’ll tell you what I did. I voted the PERSON rather than the party. In a local election you have to live with whoever is in office and that is more important than what party they are affiliated with. ONE day in Mississippi all local elections should be on ONE ticket.

  4. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

I’ve got a similar problem, MrsH. I’ve decided to wait and vote this evening and hope to do some reading during lunch today about the candidates.

Hope everyone has a great day!

  5. Ann Onimous says:

I’m there as well: the Sheriff’s race is on the Democratic ballot, but the Lt. Governor’s race is on the Republican. I suppose it’ll all come down to who needs my vote more. Plus, since the kids have decided to go back to public school, we have to go register today. It’s going to be a very long day for us.

  6. Airwolf says:

Morning friends. Closed primaries are the pits. Maybe the Feds will allow us to change to open someday!

    • Ann Onimous says:

I’m not complaining. Here, I don;t have to declare a party on registration, and I can vote either one I choose. In Kentucky, you had to declare a political affiliation and you had to vote that party during primaries. If you had registered Independent, most of the time you couldn’t vote in the primary at all.

  7. blues4you says:

    Good morning.

    Worked 18 hours yesterday…got paid for twelve…sigh.

  8. msblondie says:

a quick good morning.. will vote this evening.

everyone have a great day. i have a lot on my plate this morning.

  9. Clucky says:

Blues, I have a lot of days like that…but don’t think I can leave a few minutes early without something stinky hitting the fan.

Love MR’s stuff he has posted today. I can now hear his radio show! 103.3 in Meridian just joined the SupertalkMS family. I’m tickled.

Feel like I am coming down with something..probably a terminal case of Craniorectal Inversion. Oh wait, that’s not me!! I am having allergy mess again. I was tickled to find local honey at Piggly Wiggly. The joys of living in a small town.

I brought Granny to work today…well, part of her. I think this is so cool-we ordered jewelry that has a small receptacle for ashes. So…Poppy, the kids and grands all have a little bit of Granny :) (Not as creepy as it sounds-really) I love the idea…I think I will include that in my pre-arrangements, along with commissioning my own urn :D I’m gonna have it so well-planned, nobody has to do anything. It makes all the difference in the world to the grieving family.
The site for the jewelry is http://www.perfectmemorials.com then check out cremation jewelry. Fab hasn’t taken off that bracelet once since Saturday.

OK, praying I still have a job….again. Why? Remember I told y’all I felt a change was coming? I’m still waiting-but hospice isn’t it. I cannot take the heartbreak.

    • OldBopper says:

Clucky, separating the ashes into multi containers seems to be fashionable these days. I think if the family is happy with the concept, then it’s alright. Personally, I plan to have mine scattered at sea in the deep blue water.

PQ wants hers scattered at the site of the Episcopal camp where we met.

And I much prefer a memorial service to a funeral. Even if I didn’t want to be cremated, I would not want a bunch of people staring at me and telling folks how natural I look. Nor do I want to be drug around all over town and dumped into a dark hole. It’s just not my thing. I would want a very quick and private funeral followed by a memorial service.

My way doesn’t take up any space on earth and will certainly prevent someone from digging me up later to check my DNA.

But to each his own. I certainly won’t disagree with your final wishes.

  10. The Real JB says:

    Morning all.
Still getting settled in at my new office. Had a great month of insurance sales last month. Praying for a good month this month.

Coming to central MS in October for a wedding. Was hoping there would be time to meet some of you for meel in Jtown. It doesn’t look promising.

  11. parrotmom says:

I finally finished moving this morning. I love my view.
JB sorry there may not be a chance to see you when you make it to MS.

  12. parrotmom says:

Blues I feel your pain on the hours and pay, we can sing the Blues together :)

Clucky that sounds very interesting. I will need to check it out.

  13. OldBopper says:

I think it is important that you vote regardless of which primary. I can certainly understand folks voting in the Democrat primary because of local races. You just need to be comfortable with your vote. And, you don’t have to vote for every person on the ballot. There was one on the Republican ballot I voted that I omitted because I just don’t want to help the person at all.

Sometimes I wish you could vote for a candidate or against a candidate. Then in the final count, deduct the “againsts” from the postive votes to get the result.

AW, back in the day, the Republicans tried to mimic Louisiana to get an open primary. A.F.Summner (sp?) was the AG and argued against it because the Democrats didn’t want to give the Republicans a toe hold. Now that the Republicans are in power, the Democrats are begging for an open primary but again the party in power won’t let it happen.

Personally I favor an open primary. Even better, I’d favor doing away with party labels and make everyone run just using their own name. We have done that with judicial races in Mississippi but the parties still seem to favor one candidate over the other. I wonder if doing away with parties would allow Congress to accomplish something.

    Bottom line: Please vote.

  14. Mrs. H says:

I want to know why the local offices (like superintendent of education and sheriff and supervisors) are even party affiliated. Seems like they should be on a separate ballot anyway.

    • Mrs. H says:

One of my co-workers says that if I end up voting on the primary ballot of state-wide candidates I don’t want, I should write him in for Lt. Gov.

  15. cardinallady says:

Alright I’m here until midnight. Anybody with me? YES! It is political time in Mississippi! I do love the count out.

  16. parrotmom says:

I’m here but I’ll probably leave you before midnight.

I love dependable employees in a doctors office—-NOT!!!! Even the doctor knows they don’t know there head from a hole in the ground. Blood work can be a mighty important thing to someone taking coumadin. I have never had to call a doctor at home before and hope I never have to again.

  17. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

Well, I went and voted. I thought about it a lot, and decided I just had to not worry about the Sheriff. I hope he makes it. After hearing a couple of interviews on the Boss’ show, I had a REALLY bad taste in my mouth about a certain candidate and his scare tactics and wanted to make sure I voted for the one I thought was better. There was only one Senate seat and I didn’t recognize either name, so I just picked one. I hope I wasn’t wrong.

To be located in rural Podunk, my precinct was really busy. I looked at the Hinds county site today and my precinct has 909 voters. (it said 911 on the CL site, but I’ll go with the Hinds number). Based on the book I signed, it looked like there had been a good turnout.

  18. Legal Eagle says:

Home at last. The air conditioning in the building couldn’t keep up with the heat outside today and I am soaked to the bone, but glad another election day has ended.

  19. msblondie says:

Well get home and no water, no gas.. water company hit a gas line. the heat busted a water line. so tonight was Chopsticks for supper. We have a street full of construction and emergency vechiles. Did get to meet our Fire Chief tonight. He let us know what was going on, very nice man. Now let’s see if it is back on tonight as promised.

  20. dhcoop says:

Blondie, I hate to hear that about your water and gas. But I have to ask. Chopsticks seems to be a fav of yours. I know you are near me, but I’ve never quite pinned it down. Are you in between Terry and CS? I love Chopsticks too. Maybe we can meet there one evening when we are “taking out”. That’s all I’ve ever done there. The atmosphere is not condusive to a sit -down dinner. heh

  21. parrotmom says:

So far not many surprises. Still waiting on a few to be called. I am sure I may not agree with it but not much else could be done.

PD sees the neurologist tomorrow to see about the brace.

    Nite to all!!!

  22. msblondie says:

coop: I am in Byram (Lake Dockery). We just found Chopsticks to be a good take out place.. and reasonable. We like it better than the buffet places around here. We’ll have to meet there one day. This was last minute tonight since no water.

    everyone have a good night.

  23. OldBopper says:

Well, I won some and lost some. Overall, I’m OK with the results. Lost one that really hurt. Some serious surprises out there but we really won’t know about Hinds County for sure until all the votes come in. They had a huge mess at the polls today.

  24. dhcoop says:

    Mornin

Well, I’m just sick about the outcome. I’m hoping the recount at Wynndale will save the Sheriff.

    Headed to work.

  25. parrotmom says:

I haven’t turned on the tv yet. Coop I hope the same thing in that race.

Good morning!!!! Happy Hump day :)
