In Mississippi, news stories are like people: There are only a few degrees of separation between them.
For example. Judge Biggers refuses to throw out Zach Scrugg’s conviction. Zach is Dickie Scruggs son. Dickie Scruggs was a prime fundraiser for the Democratic party. The Scruggs funding machine was shut down (by his own stupid actions and by tort reform). The Democratic gubernatorial candidates are now in a run-off. They’ll have to spend more hard-to-come-by money. After spending that hard-earned campaign cash, they’ll have to face a rested and well-funded Republican challenger.
Yup. Always a connection. That’s Mississippi for you.
