Morning. It’s Thursday. Thursday’s are always busy at work. Dad is having his other cataract removed today. Hope it goes as well as the last one. He can see better without his glasses now which is really strange. Dad’s always worn glasses…Love him!!

  2. parrotmom says:

Good morning everyone. Prayers for PNC’s dad’s surgery that it will go well.

  3. Mrs. H says:

It’s the last first day of high school at the H house. Next school year, they’ll both be pros.

  4. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

It’s hard to believe school is starting already! Where has the year gone?

  5. Airwolf says:

Morning friends. Bear spent the night and will be with me today. Tomorrow is his first day in school. He’s seems excited to be going back.

  6. OldBopper says:

    Mawnin’ y’all.

The sloppy poll managers in Hinds AND other counties including Madison continue to cause big problems. Each technician programming the machines should check the machines against the paper ballot. Every Poll Manager should check the machines against the paper ballot as soon as they are opened. Every candidate or their appointed poll watcher, and every poll watcher from the Secretary of State’s office or the Federal Government should do the same. There is no excuse for any candidate’s name not to be on a voting machine.

I know setting up the machines is not an everyday event, but there are mandatory classes for poll managers and manuals of instruction available. Every poll manager should be trained. There’s no excuse for being sloppy.

Noting that one precinct in Clinton did not bring their machines in until Wednesday morning is unexcusable. The Circuit Clerk should have sent the sheriff to pick up the machine after a certain hour.

Again, there is no excuse for polls to be late opening. Yeah, yeah I know the one about not being able to get into the building, but that should have been addressed well beforehand. If poll managers arrive at the polls by 6 am, a key should be found before 7 am.

There are NO excuses for the sloppy poll management by the local political parties.

    morning gang!

this has been a long rough week around here.

  8. Molly says:

Mornin. Kiddo and I were rear-ended on the way home from church last night. Kiddo was driving and it really shook her up. We’re ok….just sore. My shoulders, neck and lower back are talking to me today. Kiddo’s head was hurting last night from banging it on the headrest. She was still asleep when I left this morning. The back of my van is all messed up. The front of the Altima that hit us is a total mess. That car hit us hard enough to knock us into the car in front of us. It was an old Mercury Grand Marquis and built like a tank (no offense, Tank) and we just bounced off of it. I don’t see any mark on the front of my van and didn’t see anything on the back of the Mercury. I’m going to see my insurance agent in a minute.

  9. tank says:

a fb friend’s child had ear tubes put in this morning. she keeps saying “sugary” instead of surgery. I want to correct her so bad.

Cool story about a RC toy truck!

Molly, glad y’all are okay and glad you were in the van with Kiddo when it happened. I’m sure that it helped her mindset quite a bit not to have to explain anything to you.

    • Molly says:

She would have been in BIG trouble if I had not been with her since she only has her permit and not her license! :)

  11. Legal Eagle says:

I’ve read a few books over the last week or so, none really worth mentioning. Now I am about 2/3 of the way through “Kings of Tort” and my stomach has curdled several times. I also have “Fall of the House of Zeus” checked out and will read it when I finish this one. I read on page 174 that one of the motions filed in the Scruggs case even contained a color editorial cartoon by Marshall Ramsey and that legal advisors stated that it was the first time they had ever seen a color cartoon inside the body of a legal motion.

  12. OldBopper says:

Molly, so glad y’all are OK. The other insurance company should be providing you a rental car. If they want to pay you to have your car fixed, don’t take the first check. Heck you work for attorneys, they will help you.

  13. OldBopper says:

LE, the Fall of the House of Zeus is well done.

  14. Mrs. H says:

Since before school was out in May, there have been signs on Hwy 612 of impending resurfacing: the large orange diamond signs with garbage bags over them but you can tell they say “No Centerline Ahead”; Pass with care; No passing Zone.

Why would MDOT wait until the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL when there are more cars with unseasoned drivers at the wheel than just about any other day of the year to start blocking off lanes?

    • Airwolf says:

It only reflects the leadership of my old agency!

    • msblondie says:

I know what you mean MrsH. I live off the main road in our town.. and they waited till 1st of july to start the rework and resurfacing of the road, after months of talking about it. Now the busses and all have to play cone dodge.. makes so much fun.

      • Barb says:

The back way to our voting place Tuesday had about 8 big trucks on it blocking more than just one lane! And, this was only barely a two lane road!!! They really should plan a little better!!

  15. dhcoop says:

    Glad y’all are okay Molly!!

I fixed squash and onions and it smells good! We’ve got peas, butterbeans, corn and rolls. Co-worker brought a pecan pie and we’ve got birthday cake at the other office. We shall eat well today!

  16. Legal Eagle says:

I’m going AFK to play. JB never responds to my gigs anyway!

  17. parrotmom says:

Molly I hope you and kiddo don’t have any lingering affects from being rearended. I know two people that were in the same type accident that a year later are still suffering from pain.

  18. Barb says:

In response to where has the year gone…have ya’ll ever noticed how long some days seem to be but the year just flies by?!!

  19. Molly says:

Went home and took a 2 hour nap at lunch. That helped some. My boss is insisting I go to the emergency room and get checked out, particularly in light of my prior back problems.

  20. OldBopper says:

It’s so dry in Texas that….
the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling,
    the Methodists are using wet-wipes,
the Presbyterians are giving out rain-checks,
and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water.

    • Mrs. H says:

that reminds me: I need to check and see if our burn ban has been lifted. We’ve had 2 trees come down (one ours, one just fell onto our property) and the pile is beginning to need an address of its own.

  21. Barb says:

Took a shower, ran a couple of errands, need another shower!!! it is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Airwolf says:

Almost two inches of rain since 4 pm. Thank God, we were very dry! Temp dropped from 104 to 78!

  23. parrotmom says:

I have these big black ants out under the persimmon tree and they are also getting into the cat’s food bowl. Does anyone know what kind of ants these are they appear to be about 1/2 long?

  24. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

PM, that sounds like what I call carpenter ants. They are probably looking for moisture.

  25. dhcoop says:

Just talked to Mom. Dad did really well with his surgery today. Thanks for the prayers! They are apparently doing more than just removing cataracts. He’s been wearing glasses all his life and now he doesn’t need them except to read?!? Awesome!

  26. Molly says:

We went to the ER. Both of us have muscular issues; nothing broken or messed up very bad. They thought Kiddo had cervical spine problems and put her in a neck brace until they could do x-rays. The x-rays showed no problems, though. They x-rayed my back and it also looked fine. They said everything around my “hardware” in my back looks great. I got 2 shots – one an anti-inflammatory mixed with finagrin (or however you spell that anti-nausea medicine) and I still almost threw up. The other was a narcotic of some kind. Within minutes, I couldn’t hold my head up. Good thing Kiddo was driving, cause I couldn’t have if I wanted to. Just woke up and got a bite to eat. Now I think I’ll go back to bed. Good night.

  27. parrotmom says:

Molly so glad you both went to get checked out. Sounds like they gave you some awesome type meds. Sorry for the nausea. Sleep well.

  28. Barb says:

Coop, glad your dad did well. Molly, happy you and Kiddo aren’t hurt worse than you are.

  29. Legal Eagle says:

Coop, I’m glad your dad came through his surgery fine. I have a number of friends now who have had cataract surgery and I think they use implants or something so glasses are no longer necessary most of the time.

Molly, don’t sign any releases. Sometimes whiplash takes weeks or even months to show up and the insurance companies usually want you to sign a release as soon as possible and a lot of times people have trouble later. Just take your time and make sure you and Kid are both totally fine.

  30. parrotmom says:

    nite to all!!!

  31. Clucky says:

    PHENERGAN.

    That is all.
