Goodmorning! Busy day today. Up earlier than I’ve been in weeks. I gotta be in Columbia for my regular friday trip, a few hours earlier than usual. Yes Barb I’ll say hello to the town for your daughter:)
Yesterday I saw something that looked like it’d be family fun, so I packed the kids up yesterday evening & headed for the city. I took the fam to Forest Park. The St louis Symphony Orchestra played a free concert at the base of Art hill (below the Art Museum), overlooking the Grand Basin. Afterwords they had fireworks. We got their late of course, having to wait on my son to get out of his marshall arts class & myself having to meet a transport driver to give keys to, for work. But it worked out beautifully, got there & instead of having to park a mile away (like hundreds did) we luckily got a parking spot from someone that was just pulling out, literally 20 yards from a great spot to sit to listen & watch. We were basically on top of Art hill, to the left of the orchestra but overlooking a great view of the Grand Basin.
Have a great day folks. There’s promotional vacation package to somewhere being given away today for the “early birds” that attend. I’ve got I purdy good shot at having my ticket pulled in the drawing, but even so, wish me luck. I’ll let ya know if I win.

  2. Mrs. H says:

We discovered at our choir rehearsal last night that the district office had never informed Biloxi Middle School that anything was planned for their school auditorium on 9/11!!

After several calls were made, yes, the appropriate paperwork was on file; yes, we still had permission; NO, we could NOT set up Friday at 10 a.m. So, at 3:30 this afternoon several of us will be with the 2 guys and the truck that is delivering the risers for the stage to set everything up.

  3. Airwolf says:

Time to go cut my 8 acres. Hope everyone has a great day!

  8. parrotmom says:

MrsH sorry for the short notice on the event for 9/11 on Sunday, but very glad that it is being done.

LegalE–enjoy SoulSurfer, I really enjoyed it.

  9. parrotmom says:

JB, I hope your spirits are up, you never know what is around the other door!!!

  10. Mrs. H says:

Got to head in to work for just a tiny bit this morning. Then this afternoon we’ll go set up in Biloxi. If you’re in the neighborhood Sunday evening at 6 p.m. come to Biloxi Middle School for the service.

  11. The Real JB says:

    Morning
PM…I’m a little disappointed but really I’m excited about what we can build. It will cost more and will take longer but in the long run it is nice to build what you need.

Sorry Saints fans. You are now 0-1. Titans are still undefeated. It was close to the end.

  12. Legal Eagle says:

Good morning. I’m still drinking coffee and BE just brought in hot lemon poppy seed muffins. The only thing on my agenda is getting to the library for the 1:00 o’clock movie, Soul Surfer.

  13. parrotmom says:

Off to run some errands and probably an early lunch. I am not sure what I want just don’t want to be entangled in the Friday lunch mob.

  14. dhcoop says:

    I’m fixing some chicken nuggets.

  15. The Real JB says:

Soul Surfer was a great movie. I’m looking forward to Courageous.

  16. parrotmom says:

I had my usuall a chicken quesadilla at El Sombrero. I would be be cheapest date around $4.27. I thought about Applebee’s but didn’t feel like paying $10.00 for a meal. I did find out while getting my haircut a good place to get a hamburger in Clinton. I may have to try that another day. Although it is a place to order and leave with it. If it is that good I would not want to eat it in front of PD.
Happy lunch time to all of you!!

  17. cardinallady says:

Morning! Nope. Afternoon! I had a deadline for the daily paper today, and though it wasn’t until 5 p.m., I wanted that story put to bed. Now I can breathe the rest of the afternoon.

I went to the Operation Christmas Child kick-off celebration we had at a local church last night. This teen shared of his trip to Bolivia to deliver the shoe boxes in the summer of 2010. They get a team of 25 kids to go and he was one of the 25 chosen for the week long experience. I MUST relate one story.

He said they went to one place in Bolivia and had invited 100 children. When they got to the site 200 children showed up. There were only 100 boxes. While they were doing the program they prayed over the brown cardboard boxes that held each of the little shoe boxes. The children had no idea they were getting their own gift, they were just there to enjoy the program. At the end of the program “We started handing out the boxes,” he related. “And every child got one.”

This ole gal said “Hallelujah!” Made the boy loose his train of thought there for a minute. Jesus multiplied the boxes, just like the bread. AMEN!!! HALLELJUAH!!

Looking forward to dinner with good friends tonight and a nice relaxing weekend. Not too much going on, but the stuff I do have to do is fun and/or what I want to do. The weather is beautiful. Have a great one, friends.

    Tank – GUILT!

  22. OldBopper says:

Lunch on the porch today and tonight steaks and wine on the porch with candlelight.

    Home.
    Tired.
    Long day.
    Thankful it’s Friday.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend! :)

  24. pncpnthr says:

Just had a brief conversation with Cub on the phone. I told him I didn’t really want to see all the 9/11 pictures & film clips they keep showing & will be showing all weekend. His comment was “But Mom, that was our generations’ Pearl Harbor. And we are still fighting the war that it started.”

    Love my boy!

  25. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

About to try to call Wild Blue and make sure they still have me down for appointment tomorrow. Need to get internet back up in Gtown.

  26. Airwolf says:

I took Bear bowling for a while. Helps burn off his excess energy!!!

  27. dhcoop says:

I’m all set! They will be here tomorrow!

  28. Legal Eagle says:

OK, Coop, I’ll bite. What’s Wild Blue? Are you going flying, doing a new stand up comic routine, or going naked in an icy cold whirlpool, or do I even want to know?

I thoroughly enjoyed Soul Surfer. I ate some popcorn and drank a Coke while at the movie, but I was starving when I got home. I made up a batch of tuna fish salad and pigged out on tuna fish salad sandwiches.

    • parrotmom says:

For Coop which she will probably post shortly. Wild Blue is the modem for the computer in G-town.

LegalE glad you enjoyed the movie today.

Oh!! The movie I bought for PD turns out he has already seen it, so goodness knows when I will ever have the chance to see it.

  29. Barb says:

Had not heard of the movie that JB and CLady mentioned. This is a pretty good write-up.

Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they face danger every day. Yet when tragedy strikes close to home, these fathers are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, and their faith. From this struggle will come a decision that changes all of their lives. With action, drama, and humor, the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures embraces God’s promise to “turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers.” Souls will be stirred, and hearts will be challenged to be … courageous!

As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners are confident and focused. They willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet when they take off their badges at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they’re quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark. They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to drift further and further away from them. Will they be able to find a way to serve and protect those that are most dear to them? When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God … and to their children? Courageous is the fourth release of Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Church in Albany, Georgia. Their first release since FIREPROOF, the No. 1 independent film of 2008, Courageous joins Facing the Giants and Flywheel in touching and impacting lives through heartfelt stories of faith and hope. Moviegoers will again find themselves crying, laughing, and cheering-sometimes simultaneously-as they are inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children. Protecting the streets is second nature to these law enforcement officers. Raising their children? That will take courage. Courageous … honor begins at home. Written by CourageousTheMovie, com

From the writers of Fireproof and Facing the Giants comes a story about four law enforcement officers whose lives are deeply tested as they embrace their calling to serve and to protect. As crime fighters, they must face danger every day. Yet when tragedy hits close to home, they are left wrestling with their hopes, their faith, and their priorities as men. Like iron sharpening iron, the power of their friendship invites them to face their hidden struggles as fathers. It is out of this honesty that comes a life-altering decision. With action, drama, and humor, the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures embraces God’s promise to “turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers”. Your soul will be stirred and your heart will be challenged to be…Courageous! Written by CourageoustheMovie.com

Leagle, PM is correct. Wild Blue provides satellite internet for people who live in the boonies. Big Sis’s modem died last week, and with her living “away”, its been a challenge to get to fixed. Hopefully it will be tomorrow!

  31. Barb says:

Brian, the 23rd is on a Friday…don’t you go to Columbia every Friday?

    • bpman says:

yep yep. I’ll most definitely be at the sale that day for sure. I wanna win that vacation get-a-way! Especially since we didn’t take a vacation this year. (we’re doing the Dave Ramsey thing right now, baby steps) Anyways it’d be nice to win that vacation package.
We sorta took ‘staycations’ this year. Anytime family came to visit us here in STL, we’d all end up taking the kids out to somewhere in our around the STL area that was fun for all. So in a way we had many ‘mini’ vacations this year. haha.

  32. dhcoop says:

Watching Dateline special on 9/11. Remember it well. Never forget.

  33. OldBopper says:

Watched The King’s Speech tonight on our tv. Good movie.

The few clips they played from Jackie Kennedy on NBC news really got my interest. May have to buy that book. I totally agree with her on MLK. If that gets me in trouble with some people then so be it. I had a personal one on one conversation with the woman he was sleeping with at the motel in Memphis.

  34. parrotmom says:

We watched the “Bad Leutinent” with Nicholas Cage. Not a huge fan of his but he has had a few movies that I have enjoyed. This one had my interest and the ending was not what I expected.

Barb thanks for the info on the movie, “Courageous” I have enjoyed the other movies they have done.

  35. Barb says:

    Good morning!
    You’re welcome, PM.

  36. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

    They’re here already!

  37. dhcoop says:

YAHOO!!! YEAH for Wild Blue!!! Back in business and I haven’t even brushed my hair yet! LOL!

I was sitting on the porch talking to lil sis on the phone when I saw the DirectTV truck coming down the road. Still in my jammies! Certainly didn’t expect them this early, but I’m tickled to death! I was afraid I’d be sitting here all day waiting on them!

  38. parrotmom says:

good for you Coop, so glad you are up and running again this early.

Morning to everyone!! Hope you have a great day. My day is going to be like the little engine that could. I will do my best to get the new 1/2 horse pump installed today. I have to be independent and not think I always need help just because I am a female. Wish me luck.
