  5. Airwolf says:

PM I pray PD will get some good news. Barb hope your back is better soon.

  6. parrotmom says:

    Is it lunch yet?

  7. blues4you says:

    Hey folks.

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Glad to hear good news from AnnO.

My little project is not going as well as I would like but I think it’s going to be ok by the end of it. The client is sitting out here 24/7 which makes any little glitch I might have look like a major screw up. Thankfully, all my problems have been minor, so far.

    Y’all be careful out there.

  8. OldBopper says:

    Hey Gang!

Wonderful news AnnO!!!! Praise be to God.

Wishing the best for PM and PD today. Keeping fingers crossed.

Hope Clucky does well in Arkansas.

PQ left me this morning to attend a church seminar in Memphis. She will be back late Saturday. So, it’s just me and the cats.

Have we heard from Cardinal Lady lately? I know she had a death in the family and Jon had a wreck and a simple fracture to his collarbone. Just wonder how everything is going for her.

I’m glad you’re at least employed, Blues.

I got a call Sunday asking if I could play bridge today, so I decided not to go to senior day at the fair. Once you’ve seen Guy Hovis and Ralph Semmes, you’ve seen them and I saw them last year. Lunch was to be on our own and we couldn’t afford to eat down there anyway. Someone told me that the Silver Dollar cinnamon rolls are $8.00 this year. $8.00 for a cinnamon roll is beyond ridiculous even if I had $8.00.

Here’s the song of the day, one of my all time favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktd1vB2kvp0&feature=related

Hey there. I’m accounted for. I just had a lot of work to catch up to yesterday. Last week I missed several hours and then was off half a day Monday for Uncle Lynn’s memorial service.

Had a health screening this morning. My blood pressure was up. any surprise there? I KNEW my numbers would be skewed today and this is the only day I could do the health screen.

  12. parrotmom says:

Well back from the doctor and heading in to work.

TURN ON SPEAKERS AND BE PREPARED TO EXCLAIM “WOW !  WHAT TALENT !!,” AFTER THE YOUNG LADY COMPLETES HER RENDITION.

First, read the following, and then click on the web site.

    UNBELIEVABLY BRILLIANT
The conductor of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Holland . The young
lady, her trumpet and her rendition of TAPS makes your hair stand on
    end.

Many of you may never have heard taps played in its entirety, for all
of the men & women that have died for you to have the freedom you have
in America . This is an opportunity you won’t want to miss and I
    guarantee you’ll never forget.

Amazingly beautiful .. Melissa Venema, age 13, is the trumpet soloist.
    She is also from Holland.

Here is Taps played in its entirety. The original version of Taps was
called Last Post, and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801. It
was rather lengthy and formal, as you will hear in this clip, so in
1862 it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named Taps. Melissa Venema is
playing it on a trumpet whereby the original was played on a bugle.

    Watch at this site.

afternoon… i aint gonna be worth anything the rest of the day. Took mom to lunch – her birthday is today – we went to Takira (?) in Clinton. Was good. I just forget how slow they are.

ok.. now to do some work.

I have spent all morning working on something called the ACP (Annual Church Profile.) It’s a survey of Southern Baptist churches gathering info on membership, attendance, giving, that sort of thing. This year it is very different from previous years. AND for the first time, there were no instructions enclosed. I called the state baptist office in Jackson and told the lady I needed help with the ACP. She said, “What’s that?” It took all I had not to laugh out loud. I told her what it was and she transferred me. The 2nd lady told me that wasn’t her area, but she would find out who I needed and call me back. In the meantime, I did some sleuthing. The GA, TX and VA baptists have their instructions online, so I got some general guidelines. Then the MS lady called me back with a name and # to give me specific help. Ooooo, did she have things to say about the way things were done this year! She has fielded 10 to 20 times the number of calls this year over previous years. We had a very informative discussion and I made notes.

  16. OldBopper says:

Oh my AW, that sent chills down my spine!

This morning I was driving by St. D’s and watched a helicopter landing there. It brought back memories of the thousands of helicopter landings we had on our Hospital Ship. Just one difference. This chopper likely had only one patient. Ours had up to 14 and another chopper was loaded and hovering while we emptied the first (chinooks for AW). They always came in pairs.

I said a prayer for whoever was being brought in and then thought maybe it was an organ transplant so I said a prayer for whoever might be the recipient.

  17. parrotmom says:

Evening everyone. I made it home and under the garage before the rain storm hit it’s hardest in Clinton. PD was sound asleep in his chair. I know that was good for him. I took a couple of ibuprofen and my head still aches. I am sure it will get better after some sleep tonight.

  18. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

I’m about to see if I can play the link AW posted.

  19. dhcoop says:

Crap. Not working. I can hear parts and it sounds awesome. Gonna keep trying.

  20. Barb says:

AW, I watched the video and as always when I hear Taps, it gave me goosebumps!! I was watching Criminal Minds and when the video finally started playing, the characters on the show were calling out names to be remembered from a school massacre that had occurred 10 years previously. Very eerie!!
