Thursday Free-For-All

Good morning!  Thankfully I’m not driving too far today.  Yesterday was six hours driving, one hour and fifteen minutes of speaking and three hours of radio.

Mawnin’ y’all. The cool front hasn’t passed Jackson yet but will soon. Looks like we will be driving in rain all the way to Meridian. The front appears to be moving at about 20 mph and is about 15 miles outside of Jackson. That’s courtesy of Old B0pper’s unscientific weather service.

    Prayers for PD and PM.

  2. dhcoop says:

    Mornin

Praying that all goes well for PD today.

Dreading driving to work in the rain.

  3. blues4you says:

    Good morning.

My job has been extended for 2 more days. This is a good thing.

    Prayers for PM/PD, Clucky/Mr.Fab.

Front has passed here. Brought just a little rain to a drought stricken region. Wind is gusty and it’s supposed to get cold today.

I hear banjo music(Deliverance) everytime I turn on to the lease road and head for the rig.

  4. Mrs. H says:

Even though we live out in the sticks, there is traffic at 5:30 a.m. This morning there was a car on our main walking road and one coming out of a side road at the same time that we were at that spot. I stepped too close to the edge of the asphalt and took a tumble. My ankle stopped hurting within 10 steps of my getting up. The opposite knee and hand however left skin on road, as I discovered when I got back to enough light to see by. The knuckles on my right hand look like I punched someone. Good thing Mr. H doesn’t have a black eye!!

  5. parrotmom says:

Good morning to everyone thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. MrsH so sorry for the tumble this morning I hope you are ok and your ankle doesn’t flare up later today.

Clucky, Wow!!! Chickelette will be 13. Good luck with the basement plan.

Prayers for Mr Fab and you.

Safe travels OB, I hate driving in the rain.

  6. Marshall Ramsey says:

I’m thankful I drove to the Coast yesterday and not today. The commute in was a BEAR. And 18-wheeler veered into my lane on I-55. It was pouring rain and I was afraid my sudden veer would cause a spin.

    A little pee came out.

  7. Mrs. H says:

I am so thankful for the commute that I have. The only place wider than 2 lanes is in front of the elementary school where there’s a turn lane. But now that Em is driving, she is the one that has to contend with the crazy teen drivers. They’ve all made it to school by the time I get on the road.

  8. pncpnthr says:

Raining here now. I’ll take the main roads this morning, too many curves that hold water the other way.

Prayers for all in need. I have a friend that in the last 2 weeks her step-mother passed away, her sister had a stroke (52 years old) and they had to admit her father to the nursing home. I’m thankful all my family is well right now, with the exception of a few sniffles. Take care, all…

  9. parrotmom says:

PNC that is just too much at one time, prayers forsure.

  10. dhcoop says:

Icky drive in, but I made it safely. Co-worker texted me and is bringing me a Morning Glory muffin from Broadstreet. That’s something to look forward to!

MrsH, I hope you don’t have any lingering aftereffects of the spill!

    • Mrs. H says:

I rolled with it, so I think I’m good, even “at my age”….. ahem, OB ; p

      • Legal Eagle says:

He is so much older than you, MrsH, it makes me smile. When you fall, it’s the embarassment of it all that’s worse than the actual pain. I was taking a file to a lawyer one day and the sidewalk in front of the Governor’s Mansion was torn up. I tripped on a tear in the sidewalk and fell and tore my right knee and panty hose to shreds. Some men stopped to help and I was telling them I was ok just to avoid the embarassment of letting them see the blood running down my leg.

  11. Molly says:

Mornin. Ouch, Mrs. H. OB, needs to re-think his comment! Ha!
This morning, I put gas in the car, stopped at Donut Palace, took Kiddo to school and got to work in about 20 minutes. And even then was 20 minutes early. I love working close to home!

  12. msblondie says:

morning gang! it was an icky drive in this morning.

    MrsH glad you are ok

Prayers for PM/PD hope all goes well. and for Clucky/mr.Fab.

Lot to get done so I best get busy.

  13. Barb says:

    Safe travel, OB.
Prayers for PD & PM, Clucky & Mr Fab.

  14. Airwolf says:

    Morning, wet and soggy here.

Prayers for PD/PM and Clucky/Mr. Fab.

I’m going to go hang out at the coffee shop until the housekeeper leaves!

    • blues4you says:

Retiree at the coffee shop. So, you’re gonna be one of THOSE guys, huh?

      • Legal Eagle says:

There is a regular group here at the Krystal in Pearl and the Krystal in Brandon, and McDonald’s in both locations and no telling where else. Some of those folks get up there bright and early every morning to meet and drink coffee together. I guess it’s not much different than the MRBA, but at least some of us can meet here in our pajamas and don’t have to get dressed up.

      • Airwolf says:

Yep! There’s a bunch of regulars that are here everyday. I usually make it once a week.

  15. Legal Eagle says:

I had to read that twice, AW. I thought maybe you were in the dog house and had to wait outside until I had another sip of coffee and read it again and understood that you were trying to say just what you said. Never mind. Go back to your coffee and I will go back to mine.

Coop, I was freaked by the child being hit and then finding out he had been hit by an elderly man whose wife is a cancer patient and I had to walk away from the computer too. I see people at the senior centers every day or so who drive just fine, but everyone is different.

  16. parrotmom says:

Surgery may be around 1 or 2:00.

  17. dhcoop says:

I’ll be thinking of you PM!

I’m heating up leftover peas, okra and greens for lunch.

    It’s gotten downright chilly out!

  18. parrotmom says:

They finally have him in OR but will be approx 30 minutes before the surgery actually gets under way.

  19. parrotmom says:

Coop eat enough for me :)

  20. OldBopper says:

Back from Meridian. Easy trip over and back. I returned some boots I had bought the last time we were there. Then we loaded up on groceries and came on back home.

  21. parrotmom says:

OB glad the rain was not a problem.

  22. dhcoop says:

I can’t breathe!! My head is SO stopped up! I was just getting over the other crap, now I’ve got a head cold!

    ARGGGGHHH

  23. Mrs. H says:

Black bean soup and cornbread. Waiting for the oven timer to go off!

  24. Legal Eagle says:

We had a great bridge game this afternoon. I’m trying to figure out what to cook and I’m thinking of hamburger steaks. I do it my way and I’ve been on line searching for recipes, but now I need to ask the experts. Do any of you have a good hamburger steak recipe – not salisbury steak, but hamburger steak?

  25. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

Just got off the phone with Parrotmom. PD’s surgery was scratched for today. They are headed home now. She’ll give you more information when she is able to get on later. She just wanted me to let y’all know that it didn’t happen today.

I still can’t breathe. Afrin used to work for me, but it’s not now. I think lil sis gave me whatever she came down with Sunday! Little brat! j/k :) bless her heart!

  26. dhcoop says:

Oh, and I’m about to watch “Community”. One of the drag queens I watched on RuPaul’s Drag Race (not the winner) is going to be on it!

  27. parrotmom says:

Hello everyone, PD’s surgery did not happen. They had him under and in OR they had hooked to all type wires attached to monitor his nerves to make sure he would not have any problems during the procedure all was well until they turned him over on his stomach. His blood pressure dropped and the monitor for his nerves went haywire so they were afraid due to the fracture and the curve of the neck that he was in a compromised position that could be causing damage. So they opted to not begin and to wake him up to make sure that nothing bad had happened. Surgery now will be next Wednesday. Cluck sorry if that means your appointment is scratched. Just blame PD.

  28. dhcoop says:

Shangela (the drag queen) did a great job!

I just bit my lip eating a corndog. Yay me!

  29. Barb says:

PM, I am so sorry you have to wait another week! But I guess they were right to err on the side of caution. Continued prayers.

  30. Airwolf says:

PM I’m sorry, but better to be careful. Continued prayers.

Coop you would really hurt someone you didn’t like!! I bite the underside of my tongue for some reason and it hurts!
