Clucky I gave you a chance to be first!!!
Good Wednesday morning. I hope everyone has a good day :)

Morning! For those of you with the crud: Make a hot tea with the contents of three capsules of echinacea. You can add sugar but it’s not bad without. Drink two or three times a day and you will feel better. It may not get rid of the crud but it definitely helps with the symptoms!!
    Hope everyone gets better soon!

  6. Mrs. H says:

Some friends lost their house to a fire last night. All that is left is the brickwork on the front and the staircase. Their girls are good friends of my girls. No one was home so the family is okay. Looks like it started in the garage, maybe the freezer…

Em has started the “Let’s Buy Cr@p for the W***s Family” Fund. She received a $50 rebate Visa card in the mail yesterday (from purchasing her new cell phone) and collected $30 from around the kitchen table this morning. On her list for the girls: underwear and mascara! I guess some things are more important than others. :)

Young teens still need to look good :)

So sorry for the loss of home and belongings.

Mrs. H, Tell the family to get a slip from the fire department and they can go to Wal-Mart to get some necessities. It works that way here in Pontotoc, surely it does down in George county too. also the local Salvation Army helps out in crisis and if you have a food pantry, they can help with food.

Good morning gang! Sorry I’m later than usual but an article in Der Spiegel caught my eye and I’ve been reading information on line ever since. The article said that in Syria, Christians are siding with the current dictator because they fear a government take over by the extreme religious right. That’s REALLY being caught between the rock and the hard place!

Religious freedom is a subject near and dear to my heart. I probably have a slightly different view than some, but plan to blog on it in the next day or so.

MrsH, glad your daughter is trying to assist the burned out family. I’m sure their daughters will find it refreshing to know someone their age is seeking to restore some items that are important to them. Still it is a cute commentary on what is important in teenager lives.

  8. Mrs. H says:

It made me start thinking: no wedding or baby pictures. In the next little while, I’ll be scanning important pictures onto SD cards and keeping them in my safe deposit box.

  9. parrotmom says:

Knock, knock! Anyone home? End of one long month. What will December be like I shouldn’t even wonder ?

  10. msblondie says:

peeking in.. sorry has been a busy day.. and still going.

  11. Mrs. H says:

C-Lady, they are very active, much-loved church members. They have been offered more than they are able to accept right now. Their next door neighbor owns a clothing store and is outfitting the family. The mom is a teacher at East Central and her PTO is getting school uniforms for the kids. The school district is collecting funds for winter coats for them. They’ve got several offers for temporary housing. The dad is in the insurance business, so their claim should be processed very quickly. Both sets of grandparents are local, so they have short term places to stay. In fact, I think they are embarrassed at the outpouring of support they are receiving. I love my church and community.

    • cardinallady says:

Listen Mrs H. You let those people know that they are allowing God to bless somebody else when they receive the blessing they are given by others. Obviously they are a very giving family and folks know it, so they should just be on the receiving end of blessings right now and give praise to the Almighty. Bless the LORD!!

Has been a busy morning for me. At supervisors meeting and now I’m about to go out to lunch. Getting ready for my brother’s birthday. He is 27. Seems like yesterday … The party is going to be small today but that’s okay

Woo Hoo! I just scored a Marshall Ramsey original card. My editor was cleaning out her drawers … DESK drawers … and showed us the folder of the letters to the editor she hasn’t published over the past six years. She was about to chunk it when she came across an envelop. She pulled the card out and I said ‘that’s a Marshall Ramsey picture!’ She looked at me funny. Turned the card over and saw his name on it. It is the one he drew of Highway 90 after katrina. She gave it to me.

  14. dhcoop says:

Evenin. Goodness I’m chilled to the bone. I sure do hope I’m not coming down with something with Big Sis coming home in a couple of days.

MrsH, I hate to hear that about your friends, but it’s a blessing they have you and your church. And, that WAS funny about the mascara!

I think I need another layer of clothing on…

Good evening all . Yes it is cold. Brrrr is right. Second week of vacation, ready to go back to work. Only so much housework one person can do or wants to do. At least have most of my christmas shopping done and it’s the end of November.

  16. parrotmom says:

Brrr!!! here too!!! Coop that is how I feel about 8:30 just pile the covers on me and get me warm. Then I wake up sweatin having to go to the cold, cold bathroom. No fun at all!!

  17. parrotmom says:

Evening folks. Back from a spaghetti supper and bingo as a fund raiser for the youth. They are raising money for a trip to Panama this coming summer.

Daughter’s wedding dress safely stored at our house. I saw a picture of her wearing it. She’s going to be a beautiful bride.

When is the big day, OB?

Audit underway. Resumes in the morning. So tired..havent been able to sleep for more than 3 hours a night. Praying for rest tonight and get up early and be there with the sunrise.

Please pray for my friend, Tom Carson, East Central Comm College’s band director for the last 30 years. He has esophageal cancer-he’s been through chemo and radiation. Tomorrow, the tumor is being removed along with his current esophagus. He has a long row to hoe, and has the greatest attitude about this. We all love him-he was my band director all those years ago, and was Thing 1’s band director last year. He will be at Baptist.

Y’all snuggle up and sleep well. About to call it a night. Sweet dreams.

First! I fell asleep about 9:00 last night since my favorite night of TV wa screwed up with reruns and specials and woke up a while ago. BE can’t sleep either, so he’s washing clothes and I’m making tea for later and about ready to switch this iced tea I’m drinking to some coffee.
