He will forever be remembered for the Hall of Fame . . . but he was a GREAT reporter and really got involved with the people he interviewed!!

Today we have a HUGE void in Mississippi Sports. I watched Rube on WLBT for years and worked with him on some fundraising for the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame even before the building broke ground, I was very fortunate to work with him on some fundraising aspects for the hall. Listening to him, his passion, for not only th hall but to present Mississippi in a positive light motivated me to be more involved. It was always a treat for me to listen to his stories about Mississippi sports, the people he touched. I consider myself priviliged to have met the Rube, to have known him and I am a better person because of him. I think that either all awards handed out for now on should have his name attached to them or have a special award in his name awarded to someone in the sports business whether they are an athlete or behind the scenes that has made a postive impact on sports in Mississippi. I know Rube would not like that idea but I, hopefully along with alot of his friends and fans, feel that he deserves that. Rest in peace, Mr Rubenstein “Rube”, Mississippi Sports will never be the same.

A true original who showed what Sports Reporting can be at its best! Gone too soon.

I’m thinking a name change is in order…..the Michael Rubenstein/Mississippi Hall of Fame.
