  3. Airwolf says:

Morning! Big snowflakes on my hill!!

  4. blues4you says:

    Good morning.

Looong day yesterday. Hope I used up all my bad karma.

    Now, to the mines!

  5. parrotmom says:

Saw snow about 7:30 am at 55 and count line rd while getting on to 220 heading to work. It put a smile on my face and a tear in my eye :)

  6. OldBopper says:

Good morning all. Kinda cool out there, don’t cha think? Not much going on here, guess I need to get to baking but having difficulty figuring out what I want to bake for Christmas this year. I’m leaning toward pies. Got a super duper chocolate pie recipe. It’s not real pretty, but it’ll knock your socks off if you like chocolate.

I usually do brownies and cookies, but I’m just not in a cookie mood. I give baked gifts to the neighbors and a few close friends so I’m looking at about a dozen pies.

    • Molly says:

I’m craving Christmas cookies of some sort. Think I’ll make a batch of sugar cookies or butter cookies this weekend and cut them out in Christmas shapes and decorate them.

  7. Molly says:

Mornin. Beautiful snow falling right now at the Rez. Unfortunately I have a coworker who just moved here from Ohio who won’t shut up about how stupid Mississippians are when it comes to snow. “This is nothing! You should see it in Ohio.” I’m kinda wishing she would go back to Ohio.

    • Airwolf says:

Rambette grew up in Cleveland and she tells them that Delta can have them back there before dark!

      • Molly says:

I’m about ready to buy her a ticket. She is generally a likeable girl. However, way too many sentences begin with, “In Ohio, we…” She has been reminded numerous times that she is no longer in Ohio and she needs to get used to “In Mississippi, we…”, or go back to Ohio where apparently the world is perfect.

        • OldBopper says:

Got to remember. The best place you lived was the last place you lived.

Actually she’s just trying to point out interesting differences she note.

And for what it’s worth. Yankees can drive in snow but they go crazy when it rains.

    • bella says:

Molly, I have the same kind of friend, she calls this little bitty Mississippi snow. I tell her snow is snow to us in the South. lol

    • Legal Eagle says:

Tell her to pack her carpetbag and hit the road since the snow shouldn’t slow her up any, or give her a hot buttered biscuit and stuff it in her mouth. Heh!

      • Ann Onimous says:

You all do remember I’m not from here, right? While I love Mississippi, I do miss the snow. Even though Mississippi is not my birth home, I’ve been told I may as well claim it, since I’ve lived here 14 years. I threw away my carpetbag and ain’t going to buy another one, so y’all are just stuck with me. Nyahh. :)

        • Molly says:

I’m not from here, either. And it’s not necessarily where I would like to be, but I don’t criticize everything about it. I just get SO tired of her constantly saying things about how everything is done in Ohio. I don’t care; we’re not IN Ohio.

  8. msblondie says:

morning gang! brrrrr! Think I have caught the crud from some coworkers.. woke this morning not feeling the best started sneezing and havent stopped.

I was excited to see the snow as well this morning. I stressed over and over to M to be extra careful driving to school this morning. I even told to make sure she took the interstate with all the water on the side roads.

Everyone have a great Wednesday… time to find a cup of coffee.

    • Legal Eagle says:

The only times in my life I’ve ever seen lawyers generous with their “support staff” was when they had something contageous they could bring to the office and spread around so that when we got sick and had to miss work, they could throw a fit because we weren’t there.

  9. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

Crazy busy, but good day so far!

I know I’ve mentioned them before, but I can’t say enough good things about the customer service Pinnacle Printing & Copying provides. They are awesome at it’s best. Customer service is so rare these days that they are truly a breath of fresh air.

    Commercial time over…

    Have a great day!

  10. Mrs. H says:

Our 21 year old drier has quit heating. The heater element has gone kaput. $106 to replace the unit, but I’m thinking on a drier that old, what would go next? So I’m taking off at lunch to go drier shopping with Mr. H.

On a much happier note :) I have just cut an 8″ pi symbol out of red felt to go on El’s poodle 50’s skirt. She’s portraying a math nerd who has pi memorized to 19 decimal places. It was Em’s idea to put the symbol rather than a poodle. There’s a reason that girl is in charge of designing pit costumes for the marching show!

  11. bpman says:

Mornin’ MRBA. I recently found this..again. Thought I’d share:

I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently.

Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row. I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing. I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook 30-minute brownies in 20 minutes.

I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.

Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello. I was scouted by the Mets. I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I’m bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge.

I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don’t perspire.

I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal force demonstration. I bat .400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me.

I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations for the CIA. I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics do not apply to me.

I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life, but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven.

I breed prize-winning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis.

  12. cardinallady says:

Mornin’! A pretty female cardinal struck a pretty pose in the snow this morning as I sipped my black coffee from my cup. I started the morning with that and a fire in the hearth. It’s been a lovely day!

  13. Legal Eagle says:

In the last couple of weeks, I have read “Quinn” by Iris Johansen and “Drummer in the Dark” by T. Davis Bunn and something else I can’t remember because I’ve already returned it or them to the library.

  14. Mrs. H says:

    I love the essay, bpman!
A few of those apply to me: children trust me (because I have a toy box in my office) and the full contact origami (I gave a spontaneous tutorial to my young padawan on the way out of Sunday school on how to make the flapping bird)

  15. dhcoop says:

    Very cool, bpman!

As of yesterday, I have discovered I can no longer see my computer screen without my readers. methinks it’s time for an eye appointment. blech

Big Sis’ homemade chili and cornbread for lunch. YAY!

  16. OldBopper says:

Krystals and Krystal chili for lunch. First time I have ever tried their chili. I do love those little sliders. Bet they would be good with a cup of Wendy’s chili.

  17. clucky says:

Waiting in the surgeon’s office. Had to call agencies this morning to find someone to fill in for me while I am out. Made me sick how much more a temp will make.
A darn shame it’s so cold…would love to meet for beverages. Instead, I’ll probably meet PM at Crossgates.

  18. Airwolf says:

‘M*A*S*H’ star Harry Morgan dies at 96!

Colonel Potter: We order rectal thermometers, we get spark plugs. Both useful articles, but hardly interchangeable.

Potter: Listen, when you love somebody, you’re always in trouble. There’s only two things you can do about it: either stop loving them, or love them a whole lot more.

    • Barb says:

Love Col. Potter!! Do you remember the episode he was on as another character when Henry was still there? He was crazy as a betsy bug!!! Seriously not wrapped too tight!!

  19. OldBopper says:

Got everything out and measured for the first pie. Just waiting for some stuff; eggs and pie crust to get to room temperature.

  20. parrotmom says:

3:41 what happened to the sunshine they said we would see this afternoon?

I loved “MASH”. Harry Morgan was an awesome actor. I remember him from “Dragnet” too.

Clucky hope to see you dear.

OB is this a chocolate pie you are making ?

  21. dhcoop says:

    Goodness, it’s cold!

RIP Harry Morgan. I always adored him.

  22. msblondie says:

brrrr… i don’t think my feet have been warmed all day.. so cold didn’t even take my shoes off in the office (yes we run around bare/sock footed alot)

I am heading home to fix a pot of potato soup.

Harry Morgan was great.. Love me some MASH… might have to watch some reruns tonight.

Everyone have a good night and stay warm.

  23. dwb810 says:

Mississippi had more snow than StL. We had barely a dusting.

  24. dhcoop says:

    Evenin! Trying to stay warm.

  25. parrotmom says:

late evening. Its down right bone chillin tomorrow will be more fun.

I didn’t see Clucky, I hope she is ok. I got to see PD a little earlier than normal. Slow night for them. PD was looking good, but keeps trying to tell me something, but I am limited on my lip reading skills. I found a child’s alphabet book at Fred’s maybe it will help. We tried the iPhone but the keyboard was too small for him to read and his left hand is too shaky to try and press the right key anyway. So I will try the book tomorrow.

Everyone stay warm see you all bright and early.

  26. clucky says:

PM, sorry I didn’t come by. I didn’t get out of Dr. Fred’s office til after 6. She was kind enough to work me in and do 4 trigger point injections. The surgeon has me set up for a myelogram Friday week, then we’ll discuss surgery. I’m relieved. I’m off tomorrow since I got the shots today. Very happy for the day off.

Poppy made it to Mexico with no problems. We are keeping his Bichon Frise while he’s gone.

    Gnite.
