Fit-to-Fat-to-Fit Blog Day 12

Goal weight: 195.

Current weight: 227.6

Three weeks down. Nine to go.

First of all, I am very proud of all my 5 a.m Fit4Change teammates and thank them for the encouragement and motivation they give me.

I weighed in today.  According to their scales, I lost one pound this week — and I wasn’t pleased.  After the first week of losing seven pounds and the second week of losing ten, one measly pound seems like a mighty small number.  I have hit a plateau.  Excuse me as I curse a bit.

#$%#$%

OK, I’m back.  I’ve been playing around with physiology long enough (starting with high school football weightlifting) to know that this is not the end of the world. So I’m keeping a few things in mind:

1. I’m putting on muscle. Muscle is denser and heavier that the fat that I was carrying.

2. How do I know? I have lost 2 1/2 inches off my waist.  Yup. I barely fit into size 40 pants at the beginning of the month and my gut hung over. Now I am wearing size 38’s and they are loose.

3.  This is a marathon, not a sprint. My goal is 50 pounds. I have lost 18 in three weeks. I am on target.

4. I started in the beginner group. I’m now in the intense group –In three weeks!  I can run four miles now. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs before.

Next week, I’ll lose more than a pound.  And by April 28 when Patrick House weighs me on the air, I’ll weight 195 lbs.  I’ll also have my life back.

The view from the plateau is beautiful: I can see my goal clearly in sight.

And that’s worth getting up a 3:45 in the morning for. Trust me.

I am two weeks into my goal of loosing 40 lbs. Reading your blog with a shirt still wet from sweat at 7:30 is very encouraging. Keep up the good work (fitness and blog)!

It’s because of you, that even though I BADLY wanted to stop in Whataburger and get a breakfast on a bun & potato sticks, I just ate my yogurt and am about to eat some oatmeal. In a couple of hours, I’ll have a piece of fruit. I’m serious. I kept thinking about you when my truck tried REALLY hard to go through the drive thru. You inspire people every day. I’m just one of them.

You are doing great. I want to find that same wellspring you’ve tapped into. Tried a personal trainer on Wednesday this week, and have been so sore I am having trouble getting up off my couch, and definitely haven’t been back to the gym.

I’m curious what “pushing the towel across the gym floor” exercise is. Can’t picture it. Are you on hands and knees sprinting/crawling?

Keep up the good work. Oh, and maybe consider tagging these posts “Fat-to-Fit” so your readers can find them.

Well we are down 3 weeks and have 9 to go way to go We miss you Marshall in low impact but we are proud that you are continuing to reach your goal. It was best for you to move to reach your target. For me it has been up and down with Paul screaming in my ear or someone’s ear saying “run that’s why you are fat now, you want fight” that is meant to push you to the next level to fight for your goal. I’m fighting my own challenges. My goal is 25lbs and a hope to get closer to 40lbs off. With me I’m loosing 2lbs a week and for me that is good but not good enough. I’m looking for my reverse plateau where a big number drops. I work out in the morning and work out in the evenings up to 3-4 times a week.

“pushing the towel” you are bent over as if you are about to tie your shoe but you actually are placing your hands on a towel. The goal is to push and walk without falling. It sounds much easier than it is.
