So happy that you did this tribute to Mike Walter.. Such a tragedy and this has to mean a lot to the family especially, and our Metro area.. Another fallen hero~ RIP Mike Walter
Thank you!
duty… does not ask how much you willing to pay,,,,,just how much you willing to give!~
I’ve missed the story about his passing, but I have seen badges from all around the state with black sleeves marking this tragic loss all over my Facebook feed. Unless you have been married to an officer, you never know that fear; that every time they go to work, they may not return. It’s a sick, kicked-in-the-gut/can’t catch your breath feeling when you hear that siren and know they’ve made a call (especially a domestic violence call), but you don’t hear from them until an hour or three later to know they are safe. I’ll admit-I was in those shoes for less than a year-despite my years as a critical care nurse (or because of it), I could not handle that level of fear on a daily basis and the marriage was over before it really had a chance. Spouses and families of law-enforcement personnel have my upmost respect.
God Bless and be with his family-both by relation and profession.
Our pastor was the chaplain for the Pearl Police Department during another dark time and still has many friends on the department. He told us about this tragedy yesterday just after it happened. Prayers for all the families of the Pearl Police Department.
Terrific tribute, Marshall. Very well done.
Here’s to hoping you never have to draw anything like this ever again.
Hope you are right. Unfortunately I said the same thing the last time I had to.
I’m just now catching up. Been busy for two days.
Marshall, this gives me chills!
thank you MR
Thank you so much for this! My husband is a Police Officer and it is just a sad time and praying for all!
What are the words around the badge I see Love, Courage and Duty but what is Bailey Jeanne, SanDieago and Astro are those things special to him? and what are the other words around the badge? Such detail you are truly talented!
Yes. Bailey is his daughter. Jeanne is his wife. He was from San Diego and was a Houston Astro for a while. They are all pieces of his lives. I could have Photoshopped a badge, but chose to draw one that meant more. Thank you and your husband for what your family does to keep mine safe.
OH! That is amazing and so much better that you drew it, you have a true gift from God! I am so glad I asked I had no idea, I have just seen the reports about the incident on the news and you have made him a person instead of a report!
My dad retired with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. I never realized growing up how much my mom went through. She must have been so scared every day when he left for work. We just don’t thank our Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters enough for what they go through, and how they risk their lives every day for us.
