Good morning, I hope you had swell time at the Neshoba County Fair. I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and hoping the AC person can get here first!! What are my chances of that.

    • Mrs. H says:

It actually worked that way for me last month, PM. I was just happy they didn’t catch my house on fire when they pulled out the torch (like his AC people did to Rexi)!

  2. Mrs. H says:

Good morning! School uniform and supply shopping today. El is taking her driver’s permit test today. We’ll go down to Pascagoula (Lucedale’s station is only open on Wednesdays and we didn’t have the form notarized yet). Then we’ll head west to Biloxi to the mall. The eldest has a job interview in Biloxi this afternoon, so we’ll meet up for lunch beforehand.

  3. Mrs. H says:

    three in a row here!!

OB, you can get a separate phono preamp and use it with your new receiver and old turntable. That’s what Mr. H does. Well, he’s using his 30 year old integrated amp in his current set-up due to the speakers he’s currently using, but he has also has a TCC preamp (TC-750LC Audiophile M/M Phono Preamp)

Mr. H didn’t like the new turntable we got a few years ago, so he refurbished the one he got in college – 1980 (new belts and stylus)

    • OldBopper says:

Good information. Belts and stylus….sounds like a Dual 1019. If it is, don’t ever get rid of it. IMHO its the best turntable ever made.

    Wanders in….gets some coffee….hey folks.

Hope your AC gets fixed today, PM, and that it doesn’t cost next months salary. I feel your pain.

I’m very jealous of y’alls sound systems OB/MrsH. Wish I could sit down and hear some tunes with you godd folks.

Welp, gotta go outside and look concerned for a minute. See y’all later.

  5. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

LOL@blues! Better get that “concerned” look just right!

    Happy Friday!!

  6. OldBopper says:

Mawnin’. A little less humidity in the air right now but that won’t last long. Completely reworked the auxiliary driving lights on Boule yesterday. The auxiliary lights have given me fits and proved to be an expensive item. My advice to anyone with a Memphis Shades wind shield is do not purchase lights made specifically for motorcycles. Look around and you will find comparable lights for about a tenth of the price. I hope this fix is the final one.

  7. msblondie says:

    morning gang! happy friday!

  8. parrotmom says:

Blues I hope that concerned look works for you. Turns out just to be a compactor, breaths sigh of release.

  9. pncpnthr says:

Morning! I cooked a pork roast this morning, seasoned with instant coffee, cocoa, cinnamon & chili powder. It’s wonderful! And I am now convinced that I have always overcooked meat. I followed the recipe & cooked it to temp. Unbelievable. I just hope I have some left tomorrow when Cub comes home.

    • parrotmom says:

      Interesting mix of seasonings.

    • Legal Eagle says:

How about sharing the recipe with us, pncpnthr?

      • pncpnthr says:

        Cocoa Crusted Pork Tenderloin
        1 T cocoa powder, unsweetened
        1 t instant coffee
        ½ t ground cinnamon
        ½ t chili powder
        1 T canola oil
1 lb (16 oz) pork tenderloin
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine the spices in a small bowl. Rub the tenderloin with the canola oil. Dust the loin with all of the spice mixture. Heat a cast iron or heavy bottom pan to high heat. Spray with nonstick cooking spray. Place the tenderloin in the pan and sear on all sides. Transfer the pan to the oven and roast for 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees. Remove the pan from the oven. Place the meat on a cutting board and allow to rest for 5 minutes. Slice.

I don’t know why, but I don’t think I’ve slept for the last two nights. I drifted off a while earlier in the evening, but bedtime was a different matter.

I’m needed at the church in Brandon today, so I told them I would play. We should be completely moved into our new senior center in Pearl next week and we are all looking forward to that. It is really a beautiful building.

  11. Airwolf says:

    Afternoon!

Gentle rain failing. I’ve been picking 10 to 15 tomatoes from my 4 plants a day! Today I got 40!!

    Play nice, later.

So being stuck in a funky motel room every night, I’ve been watching the olympics.

    Things I’ve noticed:

All the girls on the women’s gymnastics have a y in their name.
Watching women’s gymnastic events made me feel really creepy after a while so I quit.
Although Phelps is now in the history books(which is nice) I probably wouldn’t invite him over for dinner.
The “dream team” looks as if they want to start a fight at any time.
Bob Costas went overboard with the botox and never blinks. Ever.
And what is Ryan Seacrest doing announcing sports?

Am I un-American for feeling like this?

  13. parrotmom says:

Blues laughing silently at your perspective on the Olympics. You did a good report and are NOT unAmerican. Hopefully, someone brought to their attention of Coop’s comments about not chewing gum and using the video feature in their smart phones for the coming up closing ceremonies.

  14. parrotmom says:

guess what the temp was in my house at 4:50 pm? 90 degrees again. He is back now saying it wasn’t the capacitor probably now the fan? I hope this takes care of it. I am hot, but at least he will all charge the difference of the two.

  15. OldBopper says:

Just hooked up my new turntable to my receiver and pulled out some old, old vinyl records. PQ and I agree. We’ve never heard them sound so good. Of course we never had the sound system we have now. Got some static out of one record, but after wiping it off, most of it went away. Next I’ll hook it up to the computer, but I have to download the program that came with it first.

  16. Clucky says:

Checking in. Before I ever decided to actually GO to the Fair, Chicklette came home Wednesday rather sick; mostly allergy/sinus mess. She’s getting better. I did get my ear checked out after a week, and yep, infected. MUCH better already after two days of antibiotics. You better believe I will take the remaining eight days of meds; it wouldn’t bother me in the least if I never had another earache again for the remainder of my life. Speaking of The “Fayah”, Trace Adkins is playing tonight. This is his 3rd time in the past ten years. He was there last night, walking around and visiting. Several of Chicklette’s friends got their picture taken with him. Also, on a more serious note, Monday during the running races, a jockey passed out and fell off his horse. He was 21, and after going to the hospital in Philly, was flown to UMC. He’s is neuro ICU in very serious condition. Thankfully, he wasn’t injured by the horses or the fall, but he was unconscious and had to have pressure relieved on his brain-not sure if a bleed. His name is Blaine Little of Enterprise, MS. Send up a word or two for him; his family is devastated. It’s on WTOK and neshobademocrat.com.

Thing 1 started percussion camp at EC again today-this time as tenor (what we used to call quads) captain and, I think, drum co-captain. I’m so glad he’s going back this year. He’s got his head on right now; he’s motivated and has finally decided to shoot for a business degree.

I’m looking forward to the rain this weekend and some cooler weather. School starts Monday..this summer really flew by. Another prayer request, please: I’ve shared about the long-time band director at EC, Tom Carson, and his battle with esophageal cancer. He’s not doing so hot at the moment; there are 3 small remaining tumors that are not responding to the latest chemo regimen. He may be going to MD Anderson soon. He’s an awesome guy, so uplifting and optimistic-and always funny. (He’s got your H.O.P.E. lesson memorized, Marshall!) If you would like to read about him, see http://www.caringbridge.com/visit/thomaswcarson .

Later…to try to go to sleep before I start trying to saw off my left leg. G’nite, y’all.

  17. parrotmom says:

prayers for you and your request Clucky. I hope they all pull through ok.

  18. OldBopper says:

Happy Saturday! Headed to the coast for some seafood and groceries. Later dudes!
