My Saturday morning has been filled with trying to find one of your cartoons from 2007.

Maybe you can help me. I work with students and parents on college readiness. I was reading a packet of information that someone gave me, and one of the slides had your cartoon from March 19, 2007. It had a young man who was a drop out on a basketball court shooting for a good job.

Can you direct me to where I could find this cartoon? It is a great graphic on the importance of education.

    Thank you!

Thanks AW, the last few weeks I have been super tired which leads to lack of concentrating in the tasks. I am so ready for some time off and have some days coming up in September. So I know there is some rest in its way.

  5. parrotmom says:

Some BBQ sounds wonderful just about any food does.

Afternoon! Got up this morning and mounted Boule and we sped off through the cool air. When I got to the Reservoir the water was smooth as glass. The invasive vines whose blooms look like water lillies are in full bloom. It’s a pretty sight. Looks like cotton in a field.

Tried out my communications system using the Ipod and had PQ call me. It interrupted the music and I took the call. Hung up and the music came back on. Looking forward to linking up with some other bikers on a ride to test one other feature.

Looked at the radar. Better get your life jackets out there’s a “monsoon” headed our way.

    Mornin’!
/sarcasm It’s almost 1pm. I’ve decided my body has become a barometer in the last couple of years. It can predict rain better than any weather app I’ve found!

Only the 9-12 grade band members went to the game last night. They wore rain boots! Our team won, too :) We didn’t attend, but grilled burgers then watched Batman Begins on the big TV. Tonight, we’ll hopefully watch The Dark Knight. I look forward to seeing Heath Ledger’s last performance. I’ve read many articles, etc about him that included quotes from the director and producer of the film that feared The Joker role was one that he could lose himself in. A shame.

MrsH, I’m so glad we only have one band shirt to wrangle this year!

The year of Night Moves? I wouldn’t have remembered-I was 7. Heh. Still love some Bob Seger.

  8. Mrs. H says:

GC lost in the last second (that was put back on the clock!!!)

Our room is looking so good. Grey with white trim. I can’t wait to move in. I’m going to the carpet place in town Monday to talk to them.

  10. blues4you says:

Oh….Hi MrsH. I didn’t see you over there.

  11. parrotmom says:

Tough loss MrsH for GC. Hey Blues!!
What year was night moves so I can feel old too?

  12. Molly says:

Hey. Been at work for the past 3 hours. Still have lots to do, but think I’ll call it quits anyway.
PM, Night Moves was in 1976. I was 11 at the time.
Kiddo had to work last night so she missed the first game of the season. Just as well, NWR lost. Thought they were going to pull it out for a while, but no. I watched it online.
Yesterday was a long day for Kiddo. She left home for school at 7:30 a.m., went straight to work from school (shift started at 4:00), and then finally got home at 10:15 p.m. She will get in at least 16 hours at work this weekend (Fri-Sun). Sure will be glad when she gets a paycheck. Some will have to go to the car repair fund, and a little to pay the increased insurance premiums (due to wreck), but she should still have some spending money left and leave mine alone.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

We went down to Wright’s Produce on 49 south a little after noon and I just happened to notice Tom’s Original Fried Pies sign on the right just before we got to Wright’s. We looped back around and checked it out and I sure am glad we did. They were wonderful! He has homemade fried pies in the following flavors: apricot, apple, peach, pineapple, cherry, pecan, blackberry, coconut and chocolate and the sugar free version of all of the fruit flavors. Then he has savory pies: Tex Mex, spinach, bacon egg, sausage egg, pizza, broccoli, beef, chicken, and roagie, and they all come in regular or large. BE and I both had a large roagie pie, which contains ground beef, onion, mushrooms and shredded potatoes in a rich brown gravy. I had never heard of, much less tasted, a blackberry fried pie, even though blackberry cobbler is my favorite. BE had a large one of those and I had a large apple. It was all I could do not to take a chocolate fried pie home with me, but I resisted this time. They were all delicious. This is the same man who opened the fried pie restaurant on McDowell Road. He closed it and has moved to 49 South. We will go back, and soon!

    6:40 a.m. Sunday
    It’s raining pretty hard here.
This evening, our church is feeding the local VFD’s: Agricola and Movella. Mr. H was asked to bring his famous cheesecake. It’s now sitting seductively on the counter.

    Mornin! 8 am

Blues, I always get a kick out of your “entrances”!

No, PM, just never made it in yesterday. Got up early for a road trip north with Baby Girl, then went on over to Moms to visit and wish lil sis a Happy Anniversary, then headed back south and spent the night with A and Popping. She’s a mess! Growing up too fast.

Had some pretty nasty weather yesterday. Haven’t looked yet to see what’s in store for today. I’ll try to check in later.

  22. parrotmom says:

Morning everyone at 8:15. Coop glad no one had to apy a ransom for you and glad you are fine. Dang Blues I wished I had some donuts here, problem is I would eat every last one of em. You did good getting out the door with just two.

hope you all have a good day, will be going to church shortly.

  23. pncpnthr says:

Morning! Busy day. Headed to Sunday School, church then on to Pearl to see a friend in a play. Should be fun! This will be a group of my high school classmates getting together. It’s been a while.

    Everyone have a great Sunday!
