      • Legal Eagle says:

I want a reciprocal donut this morning,,,,going for coffee myself. Someone had the nerve to call me and wake me up and now I have to get coffee down in time to leave by noon, after taking a bath, etc., etc., etc.

  3. OldBopper says:

Mawnin’ y’all! Beautiful day outside. Headed to V’burg later this morning. Just gotta see Ole Man River while its on a crash diet.

Hope you can get outside some during the day to enjoy this weather.

  4. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

    Thanks for the donuts, Blues!

  5. msblondie says:

morning gang! hope all have a good day.

Hugs to all my friends here.

  6. Clucky says:

Mmm, donuts. (takes two, if ya don’t mind-I’ll eat MR’s too so he won’t be tempted) Thanks!

(Now I gotta get dressed and drive to Philly for donuts.)

  7. parrotmom says:

Whew!!! Made it just in time to get next to the last donut. Thanks Blues :)

  8. parrotmom says:

Slipping back in, good no ones around. Slipping last donut out of box. Now to make my exit without getting caught :)

  9. Mrs. H says:

Now I feel bad about only bringing one homemade brownie :(

  10. parrotmom says:

That’s ok MrsH we can have homemade brownies another day.

  11. Molly says:

Dang! I really wanted a donut – a chocolate glazed one. Guess I better get here quicker next time. Hope everybody is having a good day. Mine is quite busy — but that’s a good thing.

  12. parrotmom says:

Hey Molly, sorry for taking the last donut, walking away with head down in shame.

  13. GrammarGirl says:

Y’all are cracking me up with the virtual donuts.

    Hey!

  14. parrotmom says:

Hey GG glad you had a minute to stick your head in the door. Sorry you missed out on the donuts.

  15. Clucky says:

Hey GG! Let me know if your girl will be playing ball in our neck of the woods!

Surprise! Just took a lemon pound cake out of the oven-and it didn’t stick to the pan! I put a lemon glaze on it, too. I sliced it and put it in the break room. Enjoy! Oh look, a fresh pot of coffee in here too-and I don’t even drink coffee :)

Flips radio from JackFM to Supertalk just on time for The Marshall Ramsey Show.

  16. Clucky says:

    *in time, oops.

I need to go scare Coop into getting a piece of cake. Her office is amazing, y’all-seriously. It even has a little guest house that is fabulous!

Pnc, y’all try to come over Saturday for Country Day-and anyone else! The weather is amazing this week.

Y’all know how I go on and on and “overshare.” I finally got around to looking up the diagnosis the neuro at UMC gave me. Now that I know what he was talking about, it’s scary accurate! Executive function is an umbrella term for cognitive processes such as planning, working memory, attention, problem solving, verbal reasoning, inhibition, mental flexibility, multi-tasking, and initiation and monitoring of actions.
(obviously not a good thing to lack in a nurse and a manager)

    Love y’all!

  17. GrammarGirl says:

I will, Cluckster. You know we still have a date to make at Old Mexico! Nothing scheduled, but you never know what will pop up on the tournament circuit. She is playing slow pitch for her school. THAT is interesting. . .

    • Legal Eagle says:

Apparently the version I pulled up is in Greek cause I can’t read it and digest its meaning. Since David Hartman is talking about the winds next week, I assume this is about the potential hurricane brewing, but you know what assuming does.

  18. Molly says:

Yum! Lemon Pound Cake is delish! And I was hungry, too, since PM (shame on her) took the last of the donuts.

  19. msblondie says:

everyone have a good evening…. that lemon pound cake looks (sounds yummy) but working hard to drop some pounds before the wedding. doing good too.

  20. parrotmom says:

Good for your MsB, congrats on your progress.

Thanks Clucky I haven’t made a cake in years. You are such a dear to do bake for us. OMG, this is awesome, reminds me of the lemon supreme cakes my mom used to bake. I hope some is left for a slice for breakfast. ymmmmmmmm!!!!

  21. Legal Eagle says:

I hadn’t eaten anything all day, so I came in and broiled a sirloin steak and made garlic bread. I had 3 baked potatoes in the refrigerator so I cut them into cubes and fried them with onions. Now I know that piece of lemon pound cake you sent me will be delicious.

  22. Legal Eagle says:

I used to do an apricot bundt cake, but apricot nectar has gotten almost impossible to find. I don’t remember if the cake itself called for it, but I know it was mixed with powdered sugar to make the glaze.

    • parrotmom says:

That is what my mother’s lemon supreme cake used 1 cup of apricot nectar in the mix. the glaze you either used milk or lemon juice.

  23. cardinallady says:

Flyihg through. Yall are having donuts and cake without me? Guess what I scored today? A jar of fig preserves!!! Canned by a lady who will be 98 years old the 13 of next month.

I can’t wait to taste them. She was my cook for the month. Her daughter asked me to come do the story on her. I had a delightful time!

Alright, now must run to prayer meeting and pray for all you people that take the last donut and last piece of lemon cake.

Perhaps there is a lone crumb for this little bird? Yall just leave it by the birdhouse and I’ll eat it in the morning.

    • parrotmom says:

Thanks for praying for this parrotmom for taking the last donut.

    • Legal Eagle says:

It’s women like that whose brains we should pick for recipes before they fade away and take their prize recipes witht them. They learned to cook before there was any such thing as fast food and the ordinary food that fills the menus of so many chain restaurants would never have passed their inspection.

      • Clucky says:

Leagle, my ex MIL is still a dear friend. She already has a cookbook for Chicklette of recipes her mother’s. Also has made her a small genealogy book with all the ancestors of that side of the family, including pictures from as far back as the mid-late 1800’s. She is making one for all of my children and the cousins on that side of the family.

  24. Old Bopper says:

Had a fun day with PQ today. Legal is right. The status of the mighty Mississippi isn’t pretty. I’ve never, never seen it so low. Took a lot of pictures today and will post them on Facebook later. Ate at Roca’s which is at the Country Club. Fried grits and shrimp with a sauce that was wonderful. Then went by the Tamale Place on I-20 frontage road and got a couple dozen tamales to bring home. Oh man, they are good. Brings back memories of my childhood.

  25. Legal Eagle says:

The last time we ate at the country club was at the restaurant that Monk Monsuer (sp) had there. He had a few Lebanese dishes, but was out of grape leaves and a few other things. The place y’all went sounds a lot better. And actually, the tamales at Jose’s in Pearl are better than Solly’s, even though Jose gets his from a tamale factory. There were several hot tamale factories in San Antonio and we used to buy 12 dozen in a can, even before we moved out there. I flew back from San Antonio one time to New Orleans and was passing tamales out to the sky caps in the airport.

  26. Clucky says:

    Mmmmm, tamales…..

It’s 1:11 am and I’m still wide awake! Hanging out with C (Thing 2) while M is at work. M’s classes are MWF, he has band practice from 3:00-5:30 M-Thursday. He’s still working full time at BK on the graveyard shift. So far, he’s hanging in there. When he gets home around 6:30am, he just falls into bed.
