    Mornin!

We lost power in CS about 2:30 am, but Friend is waiting on daylight to go crank generator. Winds are still gusting pretty hard, but rain isn’t too heavy.

I’m going to head into Jtown later. Should be an interesting drive.

    Everybody stay safe!

  2. pncpnthr says:

Morning. It’s raining here now and the wind is blowing a bit, not bad. I hope everyone else made it through last night.

  3. Clucky says:

Our schools are NOT closed, even though we are under a tornado warning and flash flood warning.

    Color me pissed.

    • cardinallady says:

I wouldn’t have sent them until the tornado warning passed. or at all if I didn’t feel safe about doing so. I just called Jon. We are set to get the storms later today and tomorrow. I told him as much as I want to see him not to drive home in a storm. Saturday is supposed to be different.

    • Molly says:

I’m surprised they didn’t close them. Probably the only school system in a 200 mile radius that’s open today. Did you send Chicklette or keep her home?
Rankin County schools are closed today. Turns out they didn’t need to be — unless another band of storms pops up. It was somewhat rough during the night, but pretty calm now.

    • Legal Eagle says:

I’ve always said that there is less common sense exhibited in the schools than anywhere else.

      • Molly says:

Less common sense? There is NO common sense! There is not a school administrator in existence who has any at all. They wouldn’t be considered for the job if they did.

Good morning 7:40 am. Made it through the night, uneventful I think. The winds would pick up and a war zone was being played on my roof with sweetgum balls. The kittie girls stayed in and woke me at 3:00, 4:00, etc. Work sent out a message not opening till 9:00 am. According to my rain gauge since it started raining yesterday just a little over 3 inches. So glad it wasn’t torrential downpours for us. I hope everyone else is doing well and you all have a good day.

  5. Molly says:

Mornin. We have limbs down in our back yard, but nothing big. Otherwise, we are nice and wet. My big mile and a half commute was easy. Wind wasn’t blowing much by the time I left the house. Power went out sometime during the night. Thankfully I was relying on the alarm on my phone and not my electric clock.
Hope everybody has a great day and stays safe and dry.

  6. Mrs. H says:

I seem to have lost a post. Oh, well, it’s that kind of morning. Chatting with the eldest. They are fine.

  7. Mrs. H says:

If you go to MR’s Isaac post and click on the pingback link under it, there are some pictures at the bottom of that linked post. One of them is the Shed, which is across Hey 57 from Mr. H’s office. He’s working from home again today.

  8. Marica says:

Up here– a few miles north of 82– it began raining this morning. I’d call it breezy, nothing more right now. Good luck to all ya’ll down south. Take care!

Oh. Just curious. What’s happening to HS football down there this weekend?

    • Molly says:

Hi, Marica. I’ve been wondering the same thing about HS football. As long as the rain subsides a bit, games should be on in central MS. I doubt there will be any school activities closer to the Coast this week.

    • cardinallady says:

Welcome Marcia! Although I’m from farther north than you are, I’m guessing most of the games will be cancelled. there’s a lot of damage to clean up from. Tornado hit Pascagoula this morning and one hit gulfport yesterday. Most places are still under water and the rain is still coming down

    • Legal Eagle says:

I saw that the Provine vs. Murrah game and some others would be played Friday night.

  9. msblondie says:

morning… strange.. I know I posted earlier but it is gone now…

Don’t remember all what I said..

everyone be safe and stay dry.

  10. Airwolf says:

Greetings from the farm, rain and wind finally got here! The raccoons are still eating all the cat food. They have avoided my traps. Now it’s down to bullet or poison!

I’ve posted four times but posts disappear!

    I hope everyone is safe!

  11. OldBopper says:

Mawnin’. Rather soggy here and still raining. We have been fortunate in that we have not had torrential rainfall. Mostly just gentle rain. Ran the wet vac all night and the basement is dry. Prepared to add two more vacs if needed. Our house guest is still with us and will probably go home tomorrow. She’s a delightful person to have around. We have enjoyed her company.

  12. Molly says:

Kiddo had to work last night from 6:00 to 9:00. Weather got really bad around 7:00 and I was nervous about her driving home, but at 9:00 it had calmed down a bit. She said you would be surprised at the number of people who get out in a tropical storm to go buy ice cream. I guess when you have that craving, you just gotta satisfy it.

  13. Legal Eagle says:

I’ve been in a world of color, 40″ of it. Wow! Going from a 12 or 13″ tv to a 40″ opens up new worlds and the writing is readable, even the tv guide. I’m ready for the new shows and saw that the new Survivor starts September 19th.

  14. parrotmom says:

Why do I let certain people called family get under my skin?

  15. dhcoop says:

Entergy’s outage map looks like Christmas lights (on a tree that’s fallen over). http://viewoutage.entergy.com/ms.aspx

  16. cardinallady says:

I think I posted while ago??? Anyway, it’s afternoon here now and things are light rainish. I’ve been trying to keep up with things on the coast through gulflive and sunherald. If yall know of any news we need to get out please tell me. Jon and I have already talked and we are going down the fourth weekend in September to help out. Talk later.

  17. parrotmom says:

    Coop, I agree it does.

  18. parrotmom says:

4 inches total rain. Still super windy at times. Couple tree kinds down in the back yard from what I can see just looking out the window. I will check the roof later.

  19. Mrs. H says:

It finally stopped raining here around 2 or 3 this afternoon.
Our schools are out until Tuesday. Mostly due to road closings due to flooding.
Our football game is moved from Friday night to Saturday at 1 p.m. Boy! Will that be hot!!

My girls think milk is comfort food. We ran out this morning. I stopped by Dollar General on my way home from church this afternoon. No milk. As I was pulling out of my parking space, the milk truck pulled in. I went back in and waited for him to unload it from the truck. When I got home and was putting it in the fridge, I realized that it was about half frozen!

  20. parrotmom says:

    sunshine and mostly clear skies.

  21. Clucky says:

Still dark, raining on and off, but the wind seems to have died down. Yes, Chicklette went on to school today. One of the students was killed in a wreck yesterday-happened right in front of a loaded school bus. The school didn’t even take roll, I heard, between the storms and the loss of a classmate. The teachers did a lot of talking to the kids today and didn’t push them; it was more laid back to keep the kids calm in the storm-literally and figuratively.
Poppy took off about 8 this morning headed home. His only detour was due to flooding on the Wolf River. He said he’s got power and just a few small limbs down in the yard.

ECCC’s game with Itawamba has been rescheduled until Saturday at 1pm. Im sur our high school will play-the band girls already have rubber rain boots, thanks to the fair!

    Love y’all.
    Have a good evening!

    • Molly says:

That’s awful about the wreck, Clucky! How horrifying for the kids on the bus who saw it. Was it someone Chicklette knew?

  22. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

Clucky, I’m so sorry to hear that! Tragic.

I’m back in CS tonight after making a round trip to Gtown to make sure Big Sis’s house was okay. No power, but fine otherwise. Generator is running here so we have fans and TV. Being told 4 to 8 days on power. But I know Entergy is going as hard as they can. Winds have still been too high here for them to even begin work. Its amazing what a difference a few miles can make between here and Jtown.

    Y’all take care!

  23. pncpnthr says:

We’re doing fine here. Cub came home for the long weekend but will have to go back tomorrow if the power isn’t restored. He’s got a generator to run the fridge so he wont lose everything, just didn’t leave it running.

I’ve been in the kitchen again, this time made Reese’s Brownies. I’ve got to quit this, though. I’m so miserable & I just tasted one! I need to find something that will dissuade this appetite! I know it’s going to have to be exercise…just got to do it! Plan to get on the treadmill TOMORROW!! We shall see…..:)

  24. Clucky says:

Look out PNC.. Tornado just skirted us, headed for the casina. We were in the bathtub for a while. Odd way to have quality time with my girl!

  25. Mrs. H says:

Y’all take care up there. tornadoes in the dark are so creepy.

  26. parrotmom says:

I hope everyone is safe tonight. nite all!
