Tornado Damage on the Trace

A five-mile swath of the Natchez Trace was destroyed in April 2011 by a tornado. It's right north of Highway 82.

    I found out the hard way by heading to Tupelo for the first time…they closed the trace…lucky for me I happened to read another map that took me on the other side of Starkville and up to Tupelo
