Mawnin’ sleepyheads! Getting ready for another wonderful breakfast.
For this morning we have chosen “Russian Eggs” which is described as flaked smoked salmon, potatoes, scallions, topped with poached eggs and sour cream. Our host also includes coffee, juice, a fruit cup, and bagels with a grand assortment of jams. We were stuffed at breakfast yesterday.
Then, because of the cold weather we’re heading to the WWII museum. We’ve been there once but they have added a huge addition since then. Afterwards, if it is warm enough, we’ll go to the zoo. We have Audubon passes which are good for as many visits as you wish for 45 days. So we could make a day trip on a warmer day to visit the zoo.
Headed home tomorrow. Will pick up the cats from our daughter’s house and settle back in to normal.
Mr. H needed to keep the car today to bring home a piece of stereo equipment that he’s trying out. That means I’m here early and can’t go anywhere until Em picks me up after quiz bowl practice this afternoon. I guess I’ll have time to catch up with most of what I missed yesterday.
Note for all my “yarners” Jo-Ann’s has all their yarn on sale 30% off or more online with 12 cent shipping… A good deal if anyone is needing stuff for projects.
Mr. H has whatever the rest of the family has had (still has). He’s stopping off at the SuperFred’s to stock up on our dwindling supply of OTC meds. Alas there was not the first bottle of acetaminophen in the store, just gaping holes on the shelves.
Did you hear about all the bomb threats called in to Mississippi courthouses? Who does that sort of thing?
Evening! We spent much of the day at the WWII museum. I spent much more time on the personal stories than I did during our first visit a couple of years ago. The new expansion is not complete. Anyway, we left early afternoon and took a bus to the zoo. Got off and found we had left our tickets at the B&B so we got back on the same bus and headed back to the French Quarter for coffee and pastries, then back to the room for an hour or so to change clothes for dinner. Then caught the bus back to the French Quarter for dinner. We arrived an hour early and was walking down the street when we came upon Broussards and read the menu posted outside. They started serving at 5:30 and the place we were headed to started at 6 pm. So we went in and decided to have a drink. Then we got to talking with the employees and decided to eat there. It was a fabulous meal and we were both delightfully stuffed when we finished. So we decided to walk the 12 or 14 blocks back to the B&B. It was a nice walk without any problems. We have walked to the French Quarter once before during the day and this time at night. After that huge meal, we really needed the exercise.
We’re heading out in the morning after breakfast. Looking forward to another delicious breakfast.
This has been a fun experience. We parked the car when we arrived and have not moved it at all. We plan to come back again within the next few weeks to visit the zoo. Our passes are good for 45 days.
I went Christmas shopping Wednesday in Ocean Springs and Biloxi after dropping Poppy off at the clinic. He stayed busy from 9am to 5pm. I finished about 75%, which is great! After I picked Poppy up at the end of the day, we had dinner at Applebee’s. It was much better than I expected, and our server was great. We arrived at the hill sleepy and full. Today was by far the most active he’s been since his heart attack. I’m impressed with his “Can-Do” attitude. Or as I say about Mr Fab, “Don’t tell him he ‘can’t’ do something, because he’ll do it just to prove he can or die trying!”
Cell service leaves a lot to be desired, but since we do have wifi, we’ve been using FaceTime daily. I’m still amazed that the technology is in a phone that ten years earlier required plenty of RAM and an external mic & webcam in addition to whatever program you were using to video chat. It boggles the mind.
Throat still hurts like the devil, but I know it’s sinuses. I’ve had several nosebleeds. Dang central heat wreaks havoc on my sinuses!
I’ve been wide awake since 600 Wed am, and its now 230am Thursday morning.

7:50 am made it to work with some snack food today. MrsH nothing wrong falling asleep in a rocker in front of a warm fire. I would love it.
Morning everyone have a grand day.

MR, I love the way your artwork for the day looks cold and wintery, even though there is no snow or frost. That is true artistry.
Mornin!
Just hopping in to say HI since I’ve been out of touch lately. Been super busy, but plan to catch up in the next few days. All is well!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Thank you for your travel updates. I feel like I’ve visited New Orleans with you.
OB sounds wonderful. So glad you and PQ are getting to enjoy your days together. Not that you hadn’t but you sure make them sound so nice.
