Friday Free-For-All

So far, so good. The Mayans’ prediction has not panned out.  Which is good. I’d hate to have my birthday be the end of the world.

Hope you have a great first day of winter!

Happy Birthday, MR. I finished the artwork for my eldest and her beloved for Christmas. I’ll post a picture after Christmas Eve. I am pleased with the result.

AW be careful when buying your gifts make sure they don’t hide your Christmas tree, lol, thinking of the picture you posted a week or so ago.

Decided not to do brownies and cookies for the neighbors this year. Baking awesome chocolate pies instead.

    St. Andrew’s Cathedral Fudge Pie

1.5 T natural unsweetened cocoa powder
1.5 T special dark cocoa powder
    1.5 Cups sugar
    1.5 Sticks of butter
    2 Eggs
    1 small can evaporated milk
    1 t vanilla extract
1 (9 inch) pie crust, unbaked.

Combine cocoa and sugar in a mixing bowl. Pour in melted butter and mix with an electric mixer.
Beat in eggs, milk, and vanilla.
Pour liquid mixture into pie crust.
Place pie on a baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. The pie will be shaky and look undercooked. Remove from oven and let stand until completely cooled. Refrigerate overnight.
Top with whipped cream prior to serving.

Got off work early today – after our Christmas luncheon. Ran a couple of errands and started on some baking.

Happy Birthday, Marshall! I guess your best friend (Randy, is it?) keeps the title of worst day for a birthday ever. I so wanted to come to Jackson, but alas, no. Tonight Mr Fab and I will have our annual Solstice fire, then promptly return to the warmth of our casa. Man, that wind will cut right through you.

As much as it hurts my heart to say this, I am seriously considering selling Mom’s house. Since I’m not working, we just cannot handle the expense of both of them. I haven’t said anything to the kids yet. I’ll just say there is nasty family feud of sorts (Thanks, big sis) and I cannot take it anymore.

Y’all have a good evening, and stay warm, Blues.

MrsH, I understand the whole “feeling out of sorts.” Not that it helps, but know you aren’t alone.

    Love Yule!

  13. parrotmom says:

Evening, I off till Wednesday. I wish you all a Merry Christmas early just in case we don’t all check in later.

Clucky, I am sure you will make the right decision even though it hurts. Family can be so cruel in so many ways.

    Love you all.

I got to get my present from Mr. H today. We went to C-Spire yesterday, but the L’dale store was out of iPhone 4S. I wanted the 4S because it’s 16G rather than 8. The girls wanted to go shopping in Mobile today, so we went into a C-Spire store over there. I got the phone. I spent the evening loading my music onto it. I didn’t have to sacrifice anything to get all the Christmas music on there. I’m a happy camper. I’m up now waiting for Em to get home from a party. She’s on her way.

Except for the cooking, I think I’m ready for Christmas. We were thinking about having a goose, until I priced one: $63 for a 13 lb bird!!! I don’t think so. Maybe a duck…..

  15. OldBopper says:

Happy Saturday! Just sat down and read all the information that comes with a medication I take. Y’all, it is the equivalent of six legal size pages with 6 point type. However, I did learn a thing or two. I often remark about those TV ads that spend more time warning you about the side effects and dangers of the drug than telling you what it is used for. Often, by the time I hear all the don’ts, I forget why a Dr. might prescribe it in the first place.

Hope everybody stays warm and happy today.
