Fit-to-Fat-to-Fit Blog: Day 36

ColdFluHad a workout partner this morning: A cold.

Don’t envy me. It was kind of like having a set of heavy hands — or as the case actually was, heavy lungs.  I felt like a 400-pound gorilla was sitting on my chest (that happens all the time to me, how about you?) And like warmed over garbage. I think part of the challenge of Fit4Change is working through injuries and illnesses.  Today was definitely a challenge.

I ran 15 miles on Saturday. It was, all things considered, easy.  Sunday, however, I felt like warmed over pigeon crap. I was sore and I was exhausted. Yesterday I felt nauseous. Today I just felt worn out.   Especially when the alarm went off at 3:45 (my body screamed it’s 2:45!!!!!). Dam’ Spring Forward.

But I got up anyway.

We did six stations today. Up first was the treadmills.  I ran at 5.3 mph at a 15% incline for five minutes and then ran another minute for 6.5mph.  Then we went to Morgan’s aerobic fun house where we did backwards bear crawls.  (Successfully, I might add).  Throw in two rounds of weights and it was into the gym where we threw the medicine ball down the gym like a spastic three-year-old. Then we did a huge capital W drill, which covered the whole gym. The cherry on the top of the big sweaty sundae was Clark having us do 100 sit-ups.

My workout partner didn’t bug me on the treadmill. But boy, he sure did choke me in Morgan’s aerobic fun room.  I think it was the heat, but I started to sweat like mad.

I will be away from the gym for a few days because of work (and a day of RR). The challenge is now to stay fit. So here’s my plan per day:

1. 100 pushups

2. 100 sit-ups

3. 25 burpees (I hope I don’t kick the dog again).

4. 5 minutes of wall sits.

5. 40 squats.

6. RUN, RUN, RUN and RUN some more.

I’m going to wait until Sunday to do my long run this week.

Oh, and my cold says hello. He thinks he is something special. I personally think he’s nothing to sneeze at.  Now if he’d just get off my chest.
