Faith is belief. Belief is knowing without proof. Knowing without proof is faith.
It’s at your core. It’s your pilot light. It drives you when you haven’t the strength to move forward. Like a stricken battleship continuing in the fight, it keeps you in the battle. No matter how many rounds of doubt explode against you, faith allows you to stay afloat to win the day. Faith is your armor. Faith in the Lord. Faith in your ability. Faith in your dreams.
And no, not Faith Hill. She’s married.
But she can still inspire…a lot of married women are inspiring, the pilot-light, etc.; and especially the kick-in-the-pants from time to time. You may not see her, but you can sure feel her.
Faith is hard to lose, and when (if) you do lose it, it’s a booger bear to get back. Few things have ever made me doubt my faith; divorce, the struggle of a child, and losing a child (or 3) and losing a parent. Compared to most other things in my life, those are pretty serious. I’ve had to learn to not sweat the petty stuff (and not to pet the sweaty stuff) to keep my Faith alive. And I remember our Faith has to be tested sometimes to make us remember we have it.
Only Grace is more important than Faith.
Marshall, I have thoroughly enjoyed your writing. If it took you making the “Dead Man Walking” march to kick your writing Muse, well, then…..greedily I admit, I am thankful. I know I can’t be the only one getting a good message from your written meanderings. Keep up the good work.
Faith in God is wonderful (full of wonder)! And, as you gain life experiences, you should build up a “body of evidence” of God’s work in your life and in others’ so that faith does not stand alone; you will have experienced His works and His grace. All is gift.
Faith, Hope and Love. I think HOPE is key to faith and love. I like your perspective on FAITH. Reading it this morning, helps my day already.
Good writings, Marshall. I enjoy your work and have heard you speak at two meetings in Jackson. Keep up the good work :)
I appreciate the fact that being your own boss has freed you to talk more openly about your faith. So many Corporations are trying to be “spiritually inoffensive” that they are ticking me off!
My faith has been the only thing that has kept me from being totally consumed with anger.
MR, I agree with you my faith in God is why I get up every morning and if I start to doubt that God loves me I just look at a picture of my sweet, precious granddaughter because it was though faith and prayers that our family was blessed with her. Thank you for sharing your writing with us.
I enjoyed your message Marshall and agree with what all everyone has said. Keep it coming.
Wonderful piece Marshall. How many times our faith is tested. The Lord knows what we can handle as long as we have Faith in Him.
