Son of a twister, last night was rough. Well, I say last night — as I type this, tornado warnings are still firing up in east Mississippi. The weatherfolks must be exhausted after their on-airathon last night. As the sun comes up, we’ll know more about what damage is out there but this much is known: Yazoo City has a “kick me” sign taped to their back. And CNN is reporting six have been taken to the hospital. Prayers go out to all the affected and injured. Like I said last night, Mississippi weather is like combat: Long periods of boredom accented by moments of sheer terror.
Today’s weather: Rain to start off with, followed by clearing and a hi of 56. The rest of the week looks much better.

In other news:
Speaking of spinning, destructive windbags: North Korea threatens all out-war. The WikiLeaks documents show that China is weary of them “acting like a spoiled child” and it doesn’t know as much about N. Korea as we thought. And the US and South Korea are wondering what happens when the country totally collapses. And that was a really awkward sentence because it is 5:30 a.m.
Standoff ended: The 23 hostages in Wisconsin school are safe after the 15-year-old gunman holding them shot himself when police stormed the building. The students apparently talked to him to keep him calm.
Another day, another vitamin study to refute the claims of its supporters: Today’s is – Vitamin D. We need a little more but not a lot. OK. Guess I should put away my Vitamin D suppositories.
Grin and Black Bear it: Houston Nutt goes 4-8 after a Cotton Bowl win, gets a raise plus extension and now evaluates coaching staff. David Cutcliffe reacts.
Bowl predictions: For what it’s worth, here are CBS’s predictions of who will go where. Looks like State fan may be having a Chick-fil-A sandwich.
Entertainment: The director of the best Star Wars film dies. Don’t worry, George Lucas is perfectly safe. And in the “Neckties cut blood off to the brain” department, Johnny Depp said the executives at Disney hated his Capt. Jack Sparrow.
I will admit being a little frustrated at the “on-airathon” last night…until I was in the “cone”. I may fuss about them (and call them “weatherdudes”), but I do think our local meteorologists do a great job, and I appreciate all the time they put in looking out for us.
Um. Something is wrong with the time-stamp. Or I’m in a time-warp.
