Good morning! Hope everyone has a great Fourth. We’re eating too much and blowing things up — an American tradition since 1776.

The time is 11:31 and Happy 4th of July to all of you!!! OB, I hope you enjoyed your ride on Boule :) No rain in my part of Clinton this morning. Last night went to sleep watching the stars and stripes flying outside my courtyard door. Yes, we do have it lit at night. It was beautiful just as it is today and 200 plus years ago.

I feel down and out today, not sure why? PD is sleeping well and doing good. The Parrot is just like nothing ever changed he is happy to have Pops back in place. I have Mazzio’s for lunch what could be better. Maybe just chillin after all the stress from the past month maybe just finally able to chill and no all is ok in my life for now.

Prayers for those in need (Clucky and family and all else), also for those that are working today–PNC, Barb, Blues knowing you would prefer to be with family.

Thanks to all the service people present and past and their families that give of there loved ones so we may have the freedom to live in a free country.

We just celebrated our independence by cutting up a tree limb (tree-sized itself) that had fallen over the fence-line several months ago. The largest pieces are at least 16 inches in diameter. We now have an additional year+ worth of warmth. We didn’t call anyone to complain that it was over the fence. We didn’t have to get any kind of permission to operate the chain-saw. We just did what needed doing and have the benefit of the firewood.

  9. dhcoop says:

MrsH, that’s one of the great things about living in rural America!

((((PM)))) I think what you are feeling is pretty normal considering the situation.

I just had to tell Ghost he couldn’t go back out because I’m about to leave. He’s not happy.

Maybe I’ll get out of here with both ankles.

  10. parrotmom says:

MrsH that’s wonderful for the free firewood. It will come in handy.

  11. Ann Onimous says:

Happy Independence Day, my friends! Barb, I used to volunteer to work every holiday, and I loved it. It’s the one thing I don’t like about my current job: we’re only open 7-7, M-F, and off every holiday. The extra money was nice.

You know you’re the parent of a child with diabetes when you watch a competitive eating competition and start counting carbs. Joey Chestnut downed 62 hot dogs and buns, and ate over 19,000 calories and around 1,920 carbs. I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of insulin needed to cover that.

Just finished a 175 mile ride. Brandon to Goshen Springs to 43 to Natchez Trace. South on the trace stopping a Clinton welcome center…..a very nice facility. Then on down south on the trace past Hwy 27 to the southern Cherokee Boundry. Back up to Hwy 27 to Utica then Hwy 18 to Siwell Road and south to Byrum. Across the bridge at Byrum to Richland. North on Hwy 49 to I-20 then east to Pearl. Then backroads past Whitfield and on into Brandon. Filled up with gas at 130 miles and averaged a shade over 62 mpg. The Trace is easy on the gas and the rider.

  13. parrotmom says:

what a good, scenic route OB!!!

  14. parrotmom says:

AnnO I could not imagine eating 3 hot dogs with buns at one sitting.

  15. Mrs. H says:

Ice cream is in the freezer. Corn salsa is in the bowl. Em’s cake is cooling, awaiting blue berries and strawberries to make the stars and stripes on top. Steaks will be grilling soon. :)

  16. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

I’m about to go cut all my hair off and color it “Navajo Bronze”. Wish me luck.

  17. Ann Onimous says:

Is there anything going on tonight?

  18. Legal Eagle says:

    Happy 4th of July!

Ann, even the Bachelorette is a rerun tonight and I suspect everything else is too.

I fell asleep yesterday afternoon, woke up at 10:30 p.m., sat up and read until 5:00 a.m., went to bed but never went to sleep and got up at 7:30 a.m. I was clutching Ken Follett’s “World Without End” and couldn’t put it down. It looks like I’m about half way through it.

The steaks are marinating. I’m out of stuff to make my mushroom rice or Clucky’s loaded baked potato casserole, so I doing the Ranch dressing sprinkled and roasted potatoes.

  19. pncpnthr says:

Happy 4th, everyone! I just got home from work. Now I’ve got to go to town & get something for dinner. Yeah, me.

  20. parrotmom says:

AnnO the Boston Pop’s orchestra and fireworks show comes on at 9:00 pm on one of the local stations.

MrsH your dinner sounds good as well as LegalE’s :)

PNC glad you are home and hope you have something wonderful for dinner too?

Coop, what color is “Navajo Bronze”?

  21. dhcoop says:

PM, it’s redder than I expected. Rather “bronze”. Oh, wait. It WAS called Navajo BRONZE! duh. Oh well. It feels good. I cut about four inches off and my head feels GREAT! Looking forward to seeing what it looks like tomorrow. I may glow in the sun….

    • Clucky says:

Seriously-post a pic on fb or text it to me and tell me what brand. I cant afford the beauty shop right now, and that sounds like a color I could dig :)

  22. Clucky says:

I stayed in bed most of theday with a migraine. Made it to the Pig for groceries, got home and got the dishes washed. Pizza for supper per Chicklette’s request; NOT A PROBLEM.
Granny went home yesterday on hospice. She and Poppy were shocked-nurses were there at least 8 hours yesterday and today. I don’t think they realized the level of cate would be so much higher with hospice. They will be delivering a hospital bed tomorrow. Poppy and Mr Fab are both so upset; they knew this was coming, but the realization is hitting them HARD. She is ready, but worried about her men. God love her. She is an amazing lady.

  23. Clucky says:

    PS-IT IS RAINING!!!

    :)

  24. parrotmom says:

you must be living right Clucky, you seem to be getting the rain. Prayers for Mr Fab and Poppy it is never easy to let go as we both know very well.

  25. Barb says:

Prayers for your loved ones and you, Clucky.
LEagle or Clucky, loaded potato casserole recipe, please?

  26. Airwolf says:

We had an hour long storm, 1 inch in 30 minutes. I had just turned the grill off when it hit. Now I have trash, leaves and twigs all over everything again.

Prayers for all those in need.

  27. parrotmom says:

AW sorry for another mess to clean up but thankfully you had rain!!

  28. parrotmom says:

Fireworks in the distance and time for some rest. I wasn’t going to take a nap today but missed the end of “The Virginian” and the beginning of “Wagon Train”. Tomorrow will be some more running. Now with PD’s meds and formula times will need to start coming home at lunch. Maybe after we find a home health service that will help out some?

Nite lite is on. Good night and sweet dreams to all!!!!

  29. Clucky says:

Leagle has the recipe somewhere. I’ll look for it at work tomorrow. It’s goooood.

I’ve started tatting again. Look it up-it’s one of those 1800’s handcrafts. I was blessed to have been taught.

I must say, the way this post reads has a nice ring to it.
