Mawnin’ y’all. Went to early church and then came home where PQ fixed a bountiful breakfast of fried eggs, grits, bacon, biscuits, sliced tomatos, juice and tart cherry preserves. Now I’m stuffed and about to take a nap.

  4. OldBopper says:

Great news Barbara! MrsH those are the best kind of reunions. Y’all enjoy!

  5. parrotmom says:

Good morning to everyone (almost noon 11:13 am). Good new Barb on your mom.
Happy Birthday JB. MrsH only to have friends like that would be awesome. To have any friends that even lived near by would be great.

  6. Legal Eagle says:

Good morning, MRBA! I hope everyone has a day of rest and healing from personal loss, illness, job stress, and everything else that eats at us from time-to-time. Have a blessed day.

JB, I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

  7. Clucky says:

    Thanks, Leagle.

  8. Legal Eagle says:

You’re the best! I think about all of my MRBA friends daily and we have all really been through some stuff together. You strengthen me and we all strengthen each other and I’m so glad we all found each other.

Look what somebody posted on the growing up in Jackson Facebook page.
    Cum Back Dressing

    This is THE ORIGINAL RECIPE:

From a hand-written note by a cook who worked in the kitchen at The Rotisserie, an early Greek-owned eatery at what was known as Five Points in Jackson. Given to us …by Gary “Woody” Woodward’s grandmother in 1975 who originally obtained the “secret recipe” many years before that.

Later on, all the other Greek restaurants in Jackson adopted copy-cat versions. The Mayflower, Primos, Dennery’s, etc.

    1\2 cup wesson oil
    4 teaspoons mustard
    1\2 cup ketchup
    2 teaspoons black pepper
    1/2 tablespoon paprika
    1 teaspoon worcestershire
    2 cups mayonnaise
    juice of one lemon
5/6 garlic cloves or about 2.5 – 3 tablespoons of minced garlic
    3 Tablespoons Heinz chili sauce
    2 Tablespoons onion juice
Put all ingredients in blender and mix thoroughly.

Better after it sits up for a day in the fridge. Lasts as long as a jar of mayo.

    Bon appétit ! ! !

Just finished an early supper since we are planning to go to the ball game at 5 pm. Roasted quail in mushroom gravy with rice, squash, and brussel sprouts and topped off with PQ’s lemon icebox pie with meringue.

Icing on the cake: headed home and almost to Saucier when my car died.

That’s all I’ll say about that.

I know the saying,”Sometimes you’re the windshield; sometimes you’re the bug.” I’ve had waaaaaay too many bug days of late. I need to read Job tonight when we (finally) get home. Forgive me my whining, moaning, complaining and general Woe Is Me attitude. Praying for no more catastrophes-I don’t know how much more
    I can take.

My kids are healthy, both boys are working (Can I get an Amen!), Chicklette is wonderful as ever, Poppy seems to be adjusting pretty well to widowhood.

  16. Barb says:

    Sorry about your car, Clucky.

LEagle, do you know if the recipe is the one the Elite used as their house dressing in the sixties and seventies?

    • Legal Eagle says:

It’s the original one that the Rotisserie used and all the others copied. I remember going to the Rotisserie with my parents when I was a little girl and remember dancing between them a couple of times. BB King used to play there, along with others, and they had a big dance floor.

  17. Airwolf says:

Just lost power in this storm.

  18. parrotmom says:

Clucky, I can empathize with you. So glad to hear that Poppy is doing well.

AW maybe your power want be off too long.

Been looking a photos taken during our last three vacations on the beaches of 30-A (the highway), or South Walton. Makes me anxious to head out this year. In 19 days we will be there. Beautiful beaches, no crowds, almost like having your own private beach. I think the most people we have encountered on the beach has been around 25 at one time. In the photos, you can make out the skyline of Destin to the west and Panama City to the east.

When you get to 30-A, you go back in time to the way Florida used to be. No tall high rises, beautiful unspoiled beaches, no fast food joints….just casual laid back living without the crowds.

  22. dhcoop says:

Why did I have to see the Band Aid commercial right before turning the tv off to go to bed? Now I’ve got “I’m stuck on Band Aid brand cause Band Aids stuck on me” running through my mind.

    You are welcome.

    Good night.
