  1. This is a great cartoon. As an artist, retired art educator, children’s book illustrator, and the beat goes on…, I have been at most of the study commission meetings and definitely do not like what I heard being discussed. You have such a great following, I appreciate you doing this.

  2. Brenda Johnson says:

The study commision and Gov don’t have to live on less than $600.00 a month after working 18 years for the state. I need all the help I can get. My 13th check goes to pay for my house, car insurance and to catch up on medical bills.

  3. Linda Albin McMurtrey says:

Thank, Marshall, for this cartoon – it tells it all. A reasonable retirement system is one of the few good things about public employment in this state – just look at the salaries of mid-management folks, administrative assistants, etc. As for the much-maligned and little understood cost-of-living payment, if it weren’t for that we – retired public servants existing on Social Security and our state pension — could not make the house repairs or other so-called extras we need to keep our house now.

How about one about the SLRP – there ought to be some good opportunities there? When legislators are ready to give up SLRP and come back to the regular system, then perhaps one might listen to their ideas. Or perhaps they might consider becoming a true public servant, i.e., one who works full-time for pay less than similar work in the private sector.
