Good morning!! I could use a little extra sleep, but I am not complaining.

Clucky glad M is holding up at that schedule for now. I hope he does not burn himself out to quickly.

  2. Mrs. H says:

When we got back from our walk this morning, it was warmer in the house than it was outside!

It’s Tech Thursday. Put your electronic thinking caps on and get the job done. I have a new approach to getting a printer to connect on our network. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Mawnin’ y’all. A nice cool morning for your enjoyment.

Legal, that wasn’t Monk Monsour running the place at the country club. Monk was dead and that was his brother Eddie running it. Eddie is notorious for ruining restaurants. He put Monsour’s out of business, almost put the Country Club out of business and now has the Biscuit Company in downtown. I’m not fond of Eddie’s kitchens including when he was the chef for our Army Reserve unit. Actually, Monk ran a good restaurant.

The chef at Roca’s is the son of the man who used to run Tuminellos and currently Jaques. He’s an excellent chef and has put out a very good menu from the start.

I guess you and I have very different taste when it comes to Mexican food. I’ve had those tamales and didn’t go back for seconds. Does Eat Place has good tamales as does Fat Momma’s in Natchez. One other guy in Jackson makes a good tamale but I swear he must wrap them in $5 bills for what he charges. At the Tamale Place in V’burg they are $9 a dozen and honestly made from scratch. For the record, I’m not a fan of Azteca in Brandon either. It’s a “big food” place but not much quality unless you like canned meat. (IMHO) I haven’t found a really good Mexican restaurant in the Jackson area.

Anyway, that’s why there’s more than one flavor of ice cream. If it suits you or me, that’s good enough.

I don’t like Azteca, either. Went once; you couldn’t pay me to go back. Worst restaurant food I’ve ever had. My favorite Mexican place is El Potrillo in the Dogwood area. I have been to the one on Hwy. 80, and it’s ok, but the Dogwood location is much better.

  4. Molly says:

Mornin. Gorgeous day. Glad I have a window by me so I can see it even if I can’t be out there.

  5. dhcoop says:

    Mornin!

I actually got a little chilled this morning!

  6. msblondie says:

morning gang! hope all have a good day!

Love the weather… wanted to ride in with the top down but have several meetings this morning and Bingo with my guys tonight.. didn’t need the hair looking frightful even in a pony.

    • parrotmom says:

Never thouht of hair and frightful as a description, but have seen some hairstyles that would fit this description.

A thought for my generation that I tweeted yesterday:
“I am too old” may be the last paradigm; don’t buy it. Satchel Paige said, “How old would you be, if you didn’t know how old you are?”

  8. Legal Eagle says:

    Welcome, Ankhe!

Old Bopper, I have lost my mind. I had to go back and look at my post from last night to verify that I put in Monk’s name and didn’t say his brother, Eddie, and sure enough I did that very thing. I went to Southern with Monk and he and a group of the football boys used to come to the coast and visit with me and my first ex-husband. I know what happened to his ear. He must not have let Eddie into the Maxwell’s kitchen, or maybe after he died Virginia did and that’s why she’s closed now. I agree with you on the tamales. I always liked Solly’s. It was BE who got a bowl of tamales and chili and had digestion problems that afternoon. I used to love Tuminello’s back in the ’60s (and Old Southern Tea Room and a couple of others).

  9. OldBopper says:

Welcome Ankhe. (((((Legal))))…just because I want too.

Eagle, was that the place on Washington Street where the original was located or was it the one on I-20 Frontage Road. Just curious.

    • Legal Eagle says:

It was the one on the interstate. I don’t think I’ve ever been to the other one. If I have, it’s been too many years ago to remember.

  10. OldBopper says:

Oh, and Eagle….the Monsours lived at the end of one block and we lived at the other end. We go waaaay back. Janie (their mother) taught my Momma how to make kibbee. Janie and George were in the restaurant business, but the boys learned to cook in their Momma’s kitchen. Janie made them learn.

    Small world isn’t it?

  11. Molly says:

I’m hungry. Anybody got any snacks today?

  12. parrotmom says:

Sorry Molly we pigged out yesterday. If you would have spoken earlier I could have shared my m&ms with you.

  13. cardinallady says:

Flying in to roost. Guess what? I had a REAL donut today. My dear general manager brought in a box of them.

Now, all you dear people, get all your outside doingses (as my great aunt would call it) done this weekend. Isaac is going to be ROUGH and I predict just from looking at some of the latest data that Mississippi will once again catch the brunt. So keep that in mind as you make your plans next week.

  14. Mrs. H says:

*I just found my blue flash drives
    do-dah… do-dah*

Now you’ll have that stuck in your heads for as long as I’ve been looking for the little buggers. :)

  15. Mrs. H says:

As Mr. H suggested yesterday, we’ll need to get out our plastic sheets. I have carpet ordered and delivery/installation should be next week. Yikes! Our church is supposed to picking up trash along Hwy 613 next Wednesday evening. We might get wet or even blown away.

  16. Legal Eagle says:

We had snacks today. I don’t know what you call those things that come in a bag at Sam’s. They have couple of different pretzel things, peanuts, sesame logs, almonds, those garlicy round brown melba toast things, and toasted sunflower seeds too. One of the girls brought a big cake and we had miniature candy bars, which I forgot to partake of, coffee, diet Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and water.

  17. parrotmom says:

Evening everyone. Sounds like I may need to clean a few leaves off my courtyard to assure the sump pump doesn’t get clogged up.

  18. dhcoop says:

    Evenin!

Watching a little Big Bang and crocheting. Feels great outside!

  19. Old Bopper says:

Headed out to Arkansas early in the morning. Mom’s birthday is this weekend so I’ll have a chance to celebrate with her. Tried to get all ready for a hurricane this afternoon. Have gas, butane, batteries, oil for the oil lamps, and oil for the generator. Will have to wait till we are on our way back to get milk and bread.

  20. Legal Eagle says:

We just left Byram. We went to the Wynndale Steak House and got there at 10 minutes till 9:00, only to see the lock on the door and the sign that says they close at 8:30 during the week. We drove back to Byram and ended up at McAllister’s. Does anyone know if Portebello is still there or not. I’m thinking they’re not, but I’m wondering what happened to the young man who owned it. He’s an excellent chef, especially for his age.

  21. parrotmom says:

Nite everybody, nite lite is on!
