Today is the last day of the Marshall Ramsey Show.

Singer Paul Thorn and I meet while on a remote in Tupelo.

Today is my last day on the air at SuperTalk Mississippi.  They chose to go another direction with the 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. time slot so I will now move on with my career.

I’m deeply appreciative of the opportunity given to me for nearly two years to be part your day. Doing the Marshall Ramsey Show allowed me to travel across the state and interview the best and brightest Mississippi has to offer. And yes, I met some amazing people.  Plus, I had the honor to work with great coworkers. That was a privilege in itself.

Stay tuned. New and exciting projects are on the horizon.

But for now, let me say this: Thank you again for listening to the show. And thank you for your continued support of me and my family. I continually preach that the best moments come out of the worst. I believe this is one of those times.

Oh yeah, “And honey, I’m coming home.”

Marshall, you are a tremendous creative talent and look forward to seeing what the future holds for you….when one door closes, another one opens…your book is on my Christmas list, so hope to get to read(reread in most cases) after then…keep up the good work in whatever direction life takes you and hope you can spend more time with your family….

  2. Whitney Pickering says:

Marshall, I’m sad to read this but know that your incrediblly optimistic outlook is why you are a survivor–in more ways than one. Looking forward to watching your next chapter unfold.

  3. Georgia says:

God Bless in your new adventures!!! just keep blogging and telling us about them!!!

  4. LINDA says:

I am going to miss you as I drive home every afternoon. Couldn’t wait to get in the car and see what you guys were up to on SuperTalk. God bless you and your family! I know there is something even better out there for you.

  5. Barry Simmons says:

If you move to another radio station, I’ll gladly follow you there. Love your Tweets and blogs.

  6. Trey Smith says:

I hate to hear you’re leaving. The “Afternoon Ramsey’s” were what drew me to supertalk to begin with. Now with both of you leaving (or gone), there’s not as much reason to listen.

I wish you the best with everything, and keep up the great work!

  7. Gary Geiger says:

    Rock On, My brother!

  8. greg says:

I hate to hear this. I wonder what “another direction” means. Been there. Done that. We will miss your commentary and humor. I hope things work out for you for the best. Thanks for the past months that you have worked in this position.

  9. Jay says:

Dang! I really enjoy your afternoon show. It’s just not going to be same in the afternoon on the drive home. I guess we will see where my ears end up. I hope Supertalk can keep them, but they ate going to have to do good in your slot to keep them.

  10. Kathleen Rushing says:

Marshall we will miss your common sence and ability to calm us when we are upset about the times ahead.. You are a great person with a open mind and a great apprciation for life… good luck to you in your life. . Thank you for sharing part of your life with us. Happy Trails my brother…. Peace

  11. Doris Mitchell says:

I will miss listening to you everyday! I have you on at work and actually you are coming on right now! They better get someone REALLY, REALLY good or I will be changing the channel. Good luck!

  12. parrotmom says:

So sorry to hear this you have done an awesome job.

  13. Debbie Files says:

I HATE this!!! They have made a horrible mistake! I love your show! I feel like I am sitting in a room with both of you and we are just talking. I guess Obama had his way with the station after all. Big mistalke on their part. I can’t wait to get your book! I have missed your book signings, where can I purchase your book?

  14. Terry Grant Montgomery says:

    Marshall,

This is very disappointing news I did not thank I would ever hear. I do not know how they can replace you because I do not feel they can. If you land at another station please let us know so we can tune you in.

    T. G. Montgomery

  15. Vanessa says:

Oh my, uh, oh wow! What!?! I just pulled off the road to write. I just heard youd announcement and I am shocked!!!! Are the powers that be at Super Talk on crack??? First they replace Dave and now you? I loved your show! There is no doubt you are conservative in your personal views but you were never obnoxious with your politics. You have just been a wonderful host! Super Talk just lost a listener, who happens to be in the all important, all spending 35-45 age range!!! Best of luck to you sir. Super Talk is now Sucky talk to me!

  16. Mary Lyon says:

I’m so sorry. This does give you more time: to keep on keepin’ on the great work with your books; to spend quality time with your family; and an opportunity to take this moment to just be still (just for a moment, though :) You now can market that book, think nationwide not just Mississippi. I can see you being a guest on Good Morning America or Ellen. Your style is what the country needs to see; family man, cancer cure crusader/survivor, animal lover, runner, photographer, writer, cartoonist, illustrator, humorist . . . This is only the beginning for better things for you. Hang in there :)

  17. Suzanne says:

Devastated. So enjoyed listening to your show as I sat in two different carpool lines. It was fun, upbeat and had the quirky Marshall Ramsey charm that we so desperately need today. I’ll be following you on Facebook to see where your journey takes you next. Boo to Supertalk. You blew it guys. Marshall Ramsey is a STAR!

  18. Stan says:

Really sad to see the only intelligent local host leaving the air. Further reinforced by hearing the great Paul Gallo talk about “per capital” income this morning and more of JT’s rants and hunting tales. Doesn’t say much for the audience. Truly sorry to see you go. wishing you only the best and much success with the new book.

  19. Melba Williams says:

Just seeing this–Well those of us who have followed you are very sad to hear this news. We all will follow you anywhere that you go–but so happy that your book is doing so well & that your rock Amy will always be behind her man supporting you for the next step. You have a huge following & I agree to market that book nationally. Marshal is the Unsinkable Marshall Ramsey!

  20. LegalSec says:

Looking forward to seeing your next venture! It’s out there and whatever it is, you’re already great at it! You could write another book just from your humorous Facebook updates alone! Best wishes to you and your family!

  21. Don says:

I work at the competitor but I listened to you daily. Sad to see you go and as fellow runner I loved your running stories.

  22. Linda says:

Unbelieveable, loved your show, tried to never miss it. Well, onward and upward, I’m sure whatever you do will be great.

  23. Alan Arnold says:

Wow. That is not good news. I guess the station feels the need to add another right wing blowhard. I really enjoyed listening to your show. It was a true breath of fresh air every afternoon. God bless!

  24. dhcoop says:

This stinks! I’ll miss listening to you, and now have no reason to tune in to the station. Obviously, I’m not the only one that feels that way.

  25. Allen says:

I am SO sorry you will no longer be doing the show. I found the show a little while back in a very low time in my life, and I have commuted home every day from work with you. Your show was truly a bright light in my day. Good luck and I’ll miss you!

  26. Cheryl says:

So So sorry to hear this, now I really have no reason to listen to Super Talk anymore.
I listened to Dave first, and when he left, I discovered your show so I stayed with them.

Now your both gone, so I have no reason to tune in, and I’m going to really miss hearing your take on things in our community and things in general. I will still continue to visit your website. I’m also a transplant from GA that now calls MS my home and love listening to you talk about your family and your a inspiration to me.

  27. Jim says:

One of the great privileges I’ve had in my 32 yrs. as a radio broadcaster is to have been able to produce your show for the first year. It was awesome! I’ve got a feeling that you are not done with radio. You’ve got too much talent. Looking forward to the next “Marshall Ramsey Show”!

  28. Ricky Nobile says:

I enjoyed your show and will miss listening in the afternoons! Maybe we can get together sometime and talk shop. Best wishes to you and your family!

  29. Ginny says:

Could not believe when I heard you were leaving. It has been so nice to listen to a calm, informative show. No rants – just a quirky sense of humor. Will miss you.

  30. Russ Fraiser says:

Well damn. I missed your announcement on Friday. Yesterday i was wondering who this new guy was that was filling in. Then today I realized something wasnt right. I’m disgusted. I’ve enjoyed your show the past 2 years. I hate that ST has opted for another nationally syndicated show. They are moving further and further from their roots. Marshall, I hope you land in a good place.

  31. Jerry Brooks says:

Sorry to hear about the show Marshall. I really thought you were one of the bright creative guys on the station and I’d listen in until you talked sports etc. You were a breath of fresh air waaay over and beyond your predecessor in that time slot. The station management are the stupid ones and they will probably find that out soon. Good luck

  32. Ellen says:

    Hello Marshall,
I just wanted to let you know that I really miss hearing you on the radio during my ride home in the afternoons. I would always look forward to hear what was being discussed and have to say that I particularly enjoyed that you were not loud & obnoxious and had a sense of humor. I wish you much luck in your future!

  33. connie barber says:

Driving to work will not be the same. I always looked forward to listening to you two. I cannot start my night off with the replacement show. I will have to find another station now. cannot deal with the loud and obnoxious option. Wish you the best. nice knowing you.

  34. Jimmy says:

    I didnt like show

  35. Joe says:

I miss the show. The morose, cloying show that filled your slot has me close to shutting off Talk Radio after Huckabee.

  36. Mary says:

I want you back! I want you back!! You always kept me company on my way home from work. I was always wondering who you would have on your show. I learned alot about Mississippi. Thank you!

  37. Connie says:

I did not know about this until I tuned in on my way home the other day and this Schnitt guy was on. I was like – What is going on? Where’s Marshall Ramsey? My companion on the way home every night. Can’t believe they took you off to put this “always in a snit” guy on. No comparison. Supertalk lost this listener in that time slot.

  38. becky says:

I have been searching for a month to see why you haven’t been on the air. I am sorry and I have to say I miss your show very much. I know that you will succeed at whatever you undertake next and I wish you and your family the very best.

  39. merle green says:

I used to love to listen to your show everyday going home from work. Then, one day i realized you werent on and i thought, well maybe he is off for the Christmas holiday. Then after several days of this, I realized that you werent coming back on and found out on the Supertalk’s website you had left. Well, what they have on now is soooooo boring that i just cut the radio off. I do wish you well in whatever you do. Your program was clean and informative.

  40. Rick B says:

Good luck. I miss the show. See ya tomorrow at the Blues Half marathon.

  41. peggy r says:

I,also, just found out that you was no longer on the talk show. I really enjoyed listening to you on my way home from work. It made the trip home seem short. You were always fair to everyone on your show where you agree with them or not. The Super Talk Radio station won’t be the same now. I do not enjoy listening to the other talk show they have on now and will be turning the station to something else…..good luck and please let us know when you return to another talk show station…..

  42. Jeff says:

I enjoyed your show very much, and will miss it. Supertalk should just go ahead and be a sports station and be done with it.

  43. Ray says:

I enjoyed your show on the way home in the evenings. The only thing that annoyed me sometimes, was that you’d ask your guest a question and, in the midst of all the asking, answer it two times over for them. I’d be like, “Hush, Marshall! Let them answer your question!” But, that’s not a reason to get rid of you.

Anyway, I drive home in silence now. Finally thought to ask Google whatever happened to you. Best wishes!

  44. Zach Tatum says:

    boooooo!

I turn off Super talk after JT now. I miss Dave Ramsey too! But what misguided market research did the new owners do that told them Mississippians prefer one size fits all nationwide radio to local homegrown Mississippi political talk and interviews?

They made a mistake letting you go.
