Merry Christmas Eve to you and all the members of our blog family! Thanks Boss for sharing your time to keep us together.

  2. CornPop says:

May all of you have a very Merry Christmas!

Orville has had a real rough time since Thanksgiving, ended up back in the hospital for the whole week after Thanksgiving due to a fever. I decided at that point that I needed to take a leave of absence so I could take care of him and make sure he ate, which he had not been doing. So, I’ve been home with him for a month now. He’s been needing platelet transfusions at least twice a week, if not more, because his counts have been so low. He’s been real weak and tired and unable to fix his own meals. I think he finally turned a corner for the better, however. This past Thursday his platelet counts was high enough to not require a transfusion. We had to go to the bone marrow transplant unit yesterday to have his blood checked and it was good then, too! FYI, normal platelet counts run from 150-300 and his has been below 20 for over a month, but were in the 30’s the last two times, which is still dangerously low but better. We have both stayed in pretty much complete isolation to ensure that he wouldn’t get sick from all the virus’ that are around (our daughter’s family’s been passing around the flu). The last thing he needs now is another setback, so we’ve foregone all holiday festivities, no tree (we always get a real tree & that’s a no-no), no decorations (can’t use what’s in the attic due to dust), no family gatherings, nothing. I think I’ll be able to go back to work next week if he continues to improve this week. We will be very glad to close the book on 2012! We will have many blowout parties in 2013!

Merry Christmas to Marshall and the whole MRBA! Love and hugs to all!

“Dear God, please surround cornpop and orville right now. Remind them of the holy night when our Savior was born and the fact that You came to heal us of all of our diseases and ONE day they will never have to worry about this again. Draw them to Your dear heart and give them peace of mind and spirit. We love you Jesus. Happy Birthday. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

  5. CornPop says:

  7. cardinallady says:

Okay all you dear people south of the Pontotoc/Lee county line that I love down there. Wunderground has just issued a special statement for all of you dear people down there. I saw it on our news last night, but here is the printed version …

… Severe storms likely Christmas day and evening…

A powerful storm system is expected to move through the mid-south
region late Christmas into Christmas night… and produce an
environment favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms
across central and southern Mississippi… and northeast Louisiana.
At the present time… the greatest risk of severe weather appears as
though it will be Christmas afternoon and evening… with the highest
risk southeast of a line from Winnsboro la… to Jackson… to De
Kalb. Tornadoes… a few of which could be strong… along with
damaging winds of 75 mph and quarter sized hail… are possible with
    the most intense severe thunderstorms.

The main questions associated with this severe weather threat is how
far north and west the threat will spread… and whether the storms
will be more scattered resulting in a greater tornado risk… or more
in the form of a squall line resulting in a higher risk of damaging
straight line winds along with embedded tornadoes. The National
Weather Service will continue to monitor this weather situation
closely… and provide further updates with regard to the expected
timing and impacts of this potentially serious severe weather
    situation.

People are urged to ensure they have a way to get weather warning
information as they go about their Christmas activities.

Now I will be tracking this storm at mom’s house tomorrow in the rain. I want you all to stay safe and if you can messageme and let me know you are okay.

My cell number is 662.419.0361. Stick it in your phone now and if you need anything text or call. Legal, you and your hubby especially stay safe and look for some place besides your trailer to stay in.

  8. Airwolf says:

Hey folks! I hope everyone is chipper. I’ve been running around taking care of last minute things! It is dark and stormy looking, hope tomorrow is calm!

  9. parrotmom says:

Afternoon. I went to the cemetary and had my usual milkshake. I have some Christmas lights to video tonight.

Prayers CornPop and Orville, even witht he solitude may you have a wonderful day together. Last year PD was in the hospital I remember going to eat at his brothers but I cannot recall anything else about the day other than I was at the hospital with him and grateful I could be.

    • CornPop says:

PM, you have been heavy on my mind. I don’t want to imagine being in your shoes. May God surround you with his warmth and love. God bless you!

  10. parrotmom says:

Question to anyone that can help, because I was the youngest of three and a girl. I don’t recall the stories my dad shared with my brothers. I have a great uncle that received a Congregational medal of honor. He fought in WWII and was in the Battle of the Bulge. I have put in his name and can come up with where he is buried which is in California in the Riverside National cemetary. How can I find forsure if it was the Congregational Medal of honor or another honor. I also found that the branch of service was the Army. I know he has children, but they were all raised in California. He died at 89 years of age in 2005. Any suggestions or links you could post for me to try?

  11. Molly says:

Merry Christmas everybody! CornPop, I hope you and Orville can make this Christmas a special one for yourselves. It is one you definitely won’t forget!

I’ve been in the kitchen for 3 days. I’ve baked cookies, snickerdoodle bread, peppermint shortbread, sausage balls, a red velvet cake, a caramel cake, made Oreo truffles, prepared a full Christmas dinner Sunday, and even made hamburgers Saturday night, chicken and dumplings today, and a huge pot of spaghetti sauce to go in the freezer for later. Tomorrow, I will make most of the side dishes to take to take to my parents for Christmas with them. Good thing I like to cook! (Don’t particularly like the clean up part, though!)

All gifts are wrapped and under the tree. I’m ready, Santa. Let’s do this!

  12. Msblondie says:

Christmas Day at 12:22AM. Merry Christmas! And most of all. Happy Birthday to our Lord and Savior Jesus!

  13. Clucky says:

    Amen, MsBlondie!

So happy to hear from Cornpop and Orville. PM, you’ve been on my heart this week. We love you! CLady, thanks for the weather info. I’m already in touch with my friend at the National Weather Service in Jackson. Leagle, AW, OB, Coop, Molly, and the rest of our MRBA family-we wish all of you and your families “Merry Christmas!”!

It’s 2am..Santa is going to sleep-for a little while, anyway.

    Sleep in Heavenly peace.
    Love y’all.

  14. OldBopper says:

Merry Christmas y’all! For God so loved the world…..

About 7 am on Christmas Day. It’s pouring outside. Smiles and hugs to all!

  15. dhcoop says:

    Merry Christmas y’all!

I ended up staying with my parents and Big Sis for the night because my Peanut got the flu and everyone was afraid that I’d be pushing my luck with another exposure. I was really hoping to get to be with my girls last night. But…I’ll see them soon, maybe even later today. We’ll see.

Great to hear from you CornPop! Continuing to pray for you both.

I hope everyone has a great day!

  16. Mrs. H says:

Merry Christmas, all. We’re Mr. H’s mom’s house.

  17. OldBopper says:

We went to our daughter’s MIL this morning for “Bloody Marys”. We had much, much more. Eggs, cheese grits, crab cakes, bacon, fruit, and more. It was odd how it all happened, but having both sets of parents together with the recently married couple was a real blessing. We were informed that we are to be Grandparents in late summer!!!! It was cute how they did it. I’ll post a note on Facebook as soon as all the family members are notified.

  18. Airwolf says:

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  19. cardinallady says:

Merry Christmas everybiody. Y’all stay safe

  20. cardinallady says:

alright on dad’s computer now and it is much easier. I see yall are getting all kinds of winds down there. I do pray everybody is safe!

  21. parrotmom says:

3:30 pm Christmas afternoon, Sounds like everyone has had a wonderful weekend and great times. I went to BIL’s house before getting off the trace to I-55 N my battery light and a message came on. I called my brother he said go home, me but I’m closer to my destination. I have made it home fine, light and message glowed all the weigh home. I am certain I put a new battery in maybe last year. On my way out to raise the hood and take a peek.

    Hugs and prayers to all.

  22. parrotmom says:

Thanks for the sight Molly, his name is not coming up. So my brothers must be mistaken.

  23. Molly says:

Merry Christmas everybody! We’ve had a good day. We got to Clinton around 9:30 and visited with my parents and grandmother until just a little while ago. Everybody had a good day. We actually stayed a little longer than we intended because of the weather. Looks like it has all calmed down now. There is a bit of a mess of limbs and twigs down around the Dogwood shopping area but no apparent damage.
    Congratulations on the grandbaby-on-the-way, OB!

  24. Clucky says:

It’s 530am, 12/26/12. It’s also windy outside! I bet it’s a good 20 degrees colder out there now than it was 12 hours ago.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. Thing 1 may have the flu too. It’s rampant this year! The storms blew out of here just before 5 last night. The sunset was stunning.

PM, take your car to Advanced Auto Parts-they can check the codes on your computer and see why the check light came on. Sounds like your alternator-they can check that too.

The annual Christmas Eve gathering at the kids great grandmother’s home was very emotional. She gave each of the grand kids (3) and great-grands (9) and great-great grand (1) a quilt each. I heard there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. She started making them before my boys were born 21+ years ago and has kept them all this time. She’s 84 and in poor health. I really want to go spend some time with her this week.

Y’all have a good day. I’m about to try to sleep, but the weather has got me hurting, so I’m not expecting sleep to come anytime soon.
