   Marshall,

   I love the guy eating cat food! What happened to the cat you usually draw? Did they have to give him away or did he starve because his owner ate all his food???

   Speaking on Marshall’s behalf (and assuming I am correct), the cat that appears in Marshall’s cartoons is a nod to his big tabby, Sam, who died a few years ago-that’s why he is seldom seen in the cartoons.

   The dog in the cartoons that you see from time to time is Banjo, his Border Terrier. Banjo is awesome, and has his own twitter account. Look through Marshall’s blog feed for his short stories. There is one in there “by Banjo” in which he guides Marshall back to sanity after Marshall endured running the Marine Corps Marathon, losing Mollie=Banjo’s aunt=and being cut to part-time by the C-L all in one week.

   Yes Chucky–that was a week none of us will ever forget, but we all hung in there for him.. Banjo & his lovely wife up front~ and look where he is today! He is the comeback kid for sure–very strong and we are so proud of him. Happy Father’s Day Marshall~

   I just didn’t draw the cat this time. I was drawing the cartoon at midnight and didn’t add him. Let’s just say the couple ate him.

   I do add Sam in occasionally as a tip of the hat to the most uncatlike cat I’ve ever owned.
